If our OL is in shambles then half the leagues OL are in shambles and 16-20 GMs deserve to be fired. I don't mind people wanting a new GM but when they try to play analyst and explain themselves 99% of the time they just sound silly.

To be fair the media in NY has never really called for Coughlin's head. They speculated it at one time, in 2006 when Coughlin only got a 1 year contract extension, at which point they had every right to speculate it. Call me insensitive but at that point they had a right to. And I like the Giants a lot. That a coach or GM's family reads this stuff is their choice. Obviously the intention is not to hurt or be insensitive to the family but its no different then if youre a politician or youre a movie star or a singer and do a bad job or have a bad performance.

No I didn't. It's included in my post. Did he say Ireland should have known the guy was going to sue us for millions? No. This is the team he's put together and it sucks. And one of them has gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Everyone is talking about past specific performance. If Ireland put together 5 starters on the OL, and 3 years in a row, each year, all of them got injured you can say he should have known (which he couldn't unless all of them were injury prone). Or you can say, I don't care, your olines suck. Get someone else in. I will say this for hindsight: Pioli was on TV talking about he didn't like Martin because he didn't think he was tough enough for an offensive lineman,.

Whether the media had a right to or not was not the point of what I said. I mentioned that they had an emotional reaction which speaks to the toll it takes on a family. It was there to illustrate a point, not debate the merit of Coughlin's job performance. Sure the media has a right to question job performance. TMZ has a right to follow celebrities around, the media can pick politician's irrelevant personal lives apart, and people have a right to fly a gloating banner around the stadium. But they're doing that because we consume it. I choose not to consume it because I think it's petty, mean-spirited, and makes us all worse off. Maybe it's "part of the job", I'd just prefer if it wasn't. It'll never happen, but I can make my own little ideological stand.

you're confusing the question or just trying to deflect. The question is what is the evidence martin was going to do this. Not "oh it happened". What you're saying isn't really even making sense. Nobody knew foles was going to tear it up, and we as fans weren't privy to a lot of things like foles at practice and even then it could have been meaningless. Now that people look back they might say "oh well he did have some clutch passes in pre season, therefor this was forseeable." That is a hindsight bias as it is going back and looking at history and coming to the conclusion that something was a foregone conclusion when it never really was. There are a ton of variables in this whole thing. Good luck thinking it was going to happen, especially given there are probably plenty of not so sane people in the nfl that didn't do anything remotely close to this. In fact this is a story partly because it is so odd.

There's a lot of stuff that doesn't quite add up (in my book anyways). Oh how I long for the days of Dan... (I would say Shula too, but I didn't become a fan until '98, as I was just an 8-year old kid then and heavily influenced by watching Ace Ventura!)

I don't really care quite honestly. My issue was and has been that sentence. You and jdang are trying to combine the two to deflect from the fallacy in it.
Some of the stuff will fill in gaps. Other stuff will cost careers, reputations etc. Cant divulge it. It was given to me in confidence. Suffice to say, theres a lot more to it then meets the eye.

I love the offensive line, as a general rule. I played there, and I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. I don't get where folks are calling our line mediocre. This line has been abysmal from the outset. Tannehill is on pace to be sacked 70 times this season ... or roughly 4.5 times per game. That's unacceptable, especially considering we aren't supposed to be rebuilding.
I have to strongly disagree with this, although i have no proof. I was living in NJ at that time and was an avid viewer of the Yes network and other media outlets as well. They were calling for his and Accorsi's head for years, and Eli Manning was widely considered a joke living off the name. This persisted until they won the superbowl. It was beautiful. Ofcourse they struggled the next year... and the all the LBsFinest types re-emerged, claiming FLuke. Ofcourse the G-men did it again. GLORIOUS !!! Dolphin fans could have learned something from that.
