This isn't a place for soft mother******s.... and this isn't just a normal job. It's a billion dollar organization that relies on the production of less than 100 employees and has millions of followers [fans] heavily vested in that production, and it's a profession where your coworker's performance can directly influence your own. If Martin being soft was perceived as holding the team's potential back and he didn't seem to be changing, then he most certainly did need some external influencing. He knows the requirements and demands of his job, you know- the one he signed a $9 MILLION contract to perform. Not to mention the 4 years Stanford paid for. What a way to show appreciation for the sport that set your sorry *** up for life. Now run back to mommy & daddy so they can hand you your pacifier back.

There's a strong possibility that Kevin Coyle will be serving as interim Head Coach at some point this year.

Wait till Incognito goes ham on the team.....

If his father is any indication of the vitriol coming towards the organization, it could get significantly worse. Especially if the team knew that Martin was mentally ill or unstable and insisted on having him play, despite his desire to either retire or leave the team.

Interesting if true. Did the staff elaborate on what "toughening up" Martin entails? I think this is the real issue.

What EXACTLY did the coaches mean? Toughen Martin into football shape? Show Martin football toughness and what it takes to be physical at the LOS?

If true, Incognito may have a case to save face.

Would not go that far, however the idea that the Org would NOT ask Incognito to work with Martin is equally absurd, which is why I find this funny:

    "bad, very bad"

Uhm, happens every offseason in the NFL, Vets work with young guys.

I don't recall him being asked if he orchestrated this whole thing, telling players to get after Martin.
    Could be wrong here.

    Ask yourself this question.

What if the Miami coaching staff knew Jonathan Martin had mental health issues, yet still asked the most hated/despised/worst reputation player in the NFL to "toughen him up"?

    Think about that.

Because earlier Albert Breer reported that when Martin missed OTA days, he did indeed meet with Philbin and let him know about personal issues he was going through.

Additionally: Think about this...what if the coaching staff didnt know he had those mental health issues but the GM did when he was drafted? Not saying thats what happened but....

Exactly. They dumped gasoline on the floor and then sent in a lit match.

If the "code red" for lack of a better termed was ordered after that meeting then Philbin and whatever other coaches knew about it should be dismissed immediately.

I say this with no joy, in fact Im profoundly disappointed. I thought Philbin was a better man then that

Is it possible Ireland knew about the mental issues as part of the scouting report and Philbin and his coaches did not? (were not allowed to know)

From the 2012 camp, it was apparent Martin was anointed a starter based on his draft status and held it because of his draft status. He is not better at playing OT, than Garner, Jerry, or Yeatman. He should have been brought along slowly, or better yet, the GM do better due diligence and not draft a wuss at all.

What did Sherman do ? and is this possibility as strong as when some people practically swore on their lives that Marshall was going to jail for being stabbed ? Are we operating under the assumption that Martin has been medically diagnosed ? Isnt it possible Martin met with coach and it wasnt about his mental health? Or that he wasnt entirely honest ?

Joe Philbin sent a nut job to toughen up an emotionally unstable kid. If this report is true he's done.

We've had our differences on this issue, but if this is true, then I am in total agreement. This isn't a football issue, it is a moral issue. I've been around my share of mentally unstable people, it is something I wouldn't wish upon my worse enemies.
