Report: Dolphins coaches asked Incognito to toughen up Martin

this is much to do about nothing. This gets explained away with "we have the unit captains encourage rookies and 2nd year players to attend OTA's." then there is no natural follow up without askign a leading question.

All this really does is make Philbin answer another question.



There is a better story developing....that is all kinds of juicy.

 

To me it sounds like Philbin has no control of the team and is in over his head.

 

That's actually a great point. It's conceivable that Philbin went to Turner who then went to Incognito and here we are now.

I think it's going to get more ugly from here on out. This is the sort of stuff that doesn't derail seasons, it kills whole franchises for years at a time.

Can't. I would catch a ton of ****. it is an unconfirmed story based on rumor that is being followed up on. (One of those)

But I totally believe the story.

 

Can you answer this? Does it hurt the franchise or help the franchise? I don't know how much more Ross or the fanbase can take.

The good old days. I think I still have a box of old copies from the late 80s to late 90s. The Sunshine Network used to have a mid week Dolphins show with two players as guests that I was able to find on the big C Band dish. I miss that too. Now, the C Band dish still stands in backyard, sort of like a dinosaur skeleton and something to tie one end of the clothes line to.

The thing that really sucks about all of this is that the Dolphins were probably engaged in tactics that 31 other teams engage in...

Too bad they didn't draw the line when it came to emotionally fragile, unstable players.

Unless Section's story is more negative about the staff, all that is happening here is that the narrative was set before the facts came out, and that narrative is coloring the facts in a bad light, when really they are just typical football things.

 

Sounds like Ireland is a goner. This is good news. Peace the f out. No more excuses this franchise has been a joke since he took full control.

Yes I know there are other angles currently being attacked that make the whole thing juicier.

But this is BAD. The coaching staff asking a player like Richie Incognito with the reputation he has to "toughen up" a player they KNEW had mental health issues...is BAD. That is BAD. There is no way to spin that. If Albert Breer's report is true that Martin met with Philbin in the spring to explain personal problems he was going through, that is BAD. If the Dolphins knew about a mental health history when Martin was drafted, that is BAD.

There is no way to spin this.

But yes there are juicy apples still falling from the tree.

This doesn't really seem like a big deal here. The coach obviously going to say that he asks and expects all leaders to help develop young players.

Hell yes. Now the team has to cover it's *** for their telling a player to toughen up a fellow player. So they need a scapegoat. Scapegoat of the bloody empire, and his name be Richie. He followed orders, and likely no one will admit to actually issuing those orders. They cannot place him in front a firing squad, so they'll just drum him out of the league.

As CK is alluding to, that's like using a shotgun to pop a zit. You don't take a Richie Incognito and pair him up with a Johnathan Martin. Especially if you know that Martin has issues going on.

I'm disappointed because I would expect someone like Philbin to be able to recognize the issues but the impression that I get is that he simply shrugged it off and passed the buck.

 

Add him using the N word and the story gets a 10000x juicer.

 

Didn't Philbin say Martin never came up to him? And the story was "confirmed" by Schefter.

 

I write leads....Omar's is crap. trust me on this. it's a one question story.

it needs witnesses to corroborate, and even then, it is still innuendo and easily explained.


The blood thirst out there is NOT for a "code red" "mean" coaching staff story.

The Coaching staff is ESSENTIAL to those that will DRIVE THIS STORY. THINK ABOUT IT.

 

The Saints didn't move following Bountygate and the Dolphins aren't going anywhere either.

Ross should take this opportunity to remodel the franchise. Completely new leadership. And a new relationship with the community.

Art Briles and David Shaw need to be on Ross's speed dial right now.

 

You would be surprised and shocked at what kind of person Joe Philbin is when the cameras are not on him from what I've heard.
