Geno Atkins is out for the year. That's a disaster. Losing Incognito and Jon Martin is more of a minor inconvenience. It's not like we were depending on great OL play to win games anyway.

This is an opportune time for critics to swoop in and take shots at the team but ultimately it'll be what happens on the field that determines how the story is written. Win and the media will write about how the steel willed Dolphins rallied around Philbin and overcame adversity. Lose and the it'll be the spineless coach who can't control his locker room and the hapless GM pissing away the owners FS dollars.

This potentially incoming news, if viewed through a calm, objective and rational prism, would show that really no one involved is an evil monster on either side, just a few mistakes were made. The problem is, we're dealing with fans and the press, nether of which are calm, objective and rational. The fans are a confused and angry and the press will continue to guide the narrative in a way that stokes the anger and confusion, because that's in their best interest.

I hope at least some remember this going forward, but I'm probably hoping for too much.
