Honestly, this is such a tough decision for a non Yankee fan. Do you root for the Yankees to resign Cano to huge money to tie them into payroll even further or root for them to pick up Phillips, Infante or someone else.

It doesn't matter they aren't competing for a while....The Yanks need to get their house in order and stop adding to the debacle that has gotten in this mess....

That means unfortunately they arent going to be very good for a while...

I agree with all your predictions except I think Harrell and McCutchen.

It is funny when you are in season the numbers dont jump out at you like they do when it is the offseason.....

that being said dude, Myers is going to be a freaking beast, just needs to clean up mental mistakes, but with age that will come...

Looks pretty good except I agree with Nappy, I think both McCutchen and Farrell will win. But I wouldn't be upset if Francona got the love there. I'd love to see Trout win the MVP as I think he was once again the better player this year but can't see writers not voting for those big HR and RBI totals.

    And possibly a hair cut?

I can't believe that was an actual topic of discussion the other day.

As a homer for my Cardinals, with the young pitching developed this season (Wacha, Martinez) if the batting comes back next season and they don't go silent in the playoffs, I think we'll be right back in the thick of the playoffs.
They do need to improve at Shortstop though IMO.

Yeah pretty safe bet that if the team stays healthy they're a lock to make the playoffs again next year.

As for SS, how would you like Stephen Drew?

draft pick comp, and a double digit contract for Drew would be an awful signing....he isn't worth it....

St. Louis is picking what 29th this year? If they lose their 1st round pick but then gain a sandwich pick if Beltran leaves it would be worth it. Heck even if they simply lose their 1st round pick, adding the Stephen Drew upgrade at SS would absolutely help them. When you're that close to being a WS winner and your farm system is loaded you can afford to lose a 1st round pick every once and awhile.

EDIT: For whatever it's worth, Keith Law ranked Drew his #9 FA on the market.

Even better. 9.5 for 2 years. 3rd year team option. 1 mil buyout. Good.

    Question?

Can you make a trade right now? Technically it is still the 2013 season correct and the trade deadline has passed.....I mean you can trade but cant put them on the roster?

As soon as the WS ends that season ends, which is why the day after the WS is over players are officially free agents. So any trades teams make they need to put that player on their roster (unless the player isn't on a 40 man roster to begin with).

And technically even after the trade deadline ends teams can still make trades. The Red Sox and Dodgers traded some minor leaguers during the World Series. The only main deadline is the August 31st deadline so players could be allowed to play in the post season.

Rumors of a Cards/Rockies trade involving Tulo. Damn that would be huge... Cards easily have the pieces and if they can get Tulo for a Adams, Miller + package look out.

While I certainly think the Cardinals have the prospects to make the deal, I just don't see Tulo being dealt. But you're right if the Cards can make the deal, watch out.

Ellsbury is the younger and better player than Choo is and plays a tougher position very very well, he also doesn't have a major platoon split. I'd be really surprised if Choo ends up with the bigger contract.
