Not unsurprisingly, AMC have announced it's been renewed for a 5th season.

Thought it was an excellent episode, don't like how EVERY character winds up flipping out in one way or another, but still.

BTW, adding water to a dry battery is NOT going to recharge it.

Liked the hippy chick with the bad leg wound up having the bad leg do her in..her BF was outta there, poor thing just was not fast enough.

    Comic spoilers below:

so it looks like they're bringing Lily and her dad in from the comics. Lily was the one who was ordered to shoot Lori while holding Judith, thus killing them both. She then turns to the Governor and shoots him in the head. It will be interesting to see what direction they take this now that Lori is already dead.

Maybe I'm just growing tired of the show. But the past 4 or so episodes I haven't been a fan at all.

    Oh well.

For those that have read the Governor novels, last night's episode was a mish mash of characters and plot themes from the Governor Origin Story in novel form.

Lots of flashbacks of the "gov" once he left the area, really kinda dull actually

He did pick up another little girl, otherwise just not very interesting

It was a character development episode for the governor.

It was a good episode, IMO.

The actual origin would have been more interesting...

So, are they trying to make him sympathetic, again? To what end? To make him go crazy all over? To show that all of his actions were misguided and he's still a good man? Seems pointless and stupid. The governor has been ruined on this show because they don't know how to make him a real character and not a comic book villain.

What they should of done is made him a good guy. Protective of his people to a psychotic end. Basically, what Shane was becoming before Rick killed him. All the **** with penny would of been fine too. In fact, that would of been the reason he's so nuts about protecting woodbury. To make sure that never happens to anyone else. Instead, they made him an outright villain (for no good reason) doing despicable things, with no way to justify it. The war with Rick's crew could of been legitimately been about two guys doing the right thing by their people. Sort of a, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighters. They both see the other at fault. That whole meet and greet with Rick could of been richer if the things he was saying were true (the failure of both leaders, etc...) The war breaks him and he goes overboard into full villain mode. No going back for him. But they ruined it and we're stuck with whatever there attempting to do.

It's not a flashback. At least, not prior to Woodbury's founding. The time frame is after his assault on the prison fails and during the time Michonne was searching for him.

I think they've just read the origin novel and liked it so much they wanted to squeeze elements of it into the show. I can understand that, as it's a very good read about how the Governor got to his Woodbury self...but it doesn't work nearly so well now that it's been tacked on post-Woodbury.

I texted my friend like ten minutes into the episode asking him if they thought they were gonna blue ball us and have them show up to attack the prison... then the episode ends right before the actual attack.

Needless to say, I was very surprised when **** hit the fan twenty minutes in.

Hit the fan it did. Some predictable, some not so much. With plenty of questions going forward.

Going to miss Morrisey and Wilson, especially all they brought to the show. Have to wonder how far the show can go killing people off and storyline wise before it hits a wall. It'll at least be interesting.

Eh, everything worked out better than I thought it would.

Governor is dead, for all intents and purposes. If they bring him back after that, it would just be silly. Even though I am SO GLAD he is done for, kind of upset that they essentially wasted an episode on him this season, spending it entirely on him few weeks back.
Killing off Old Man and Judith just makes most sense (writer wise) they would only handicap the travelers. Even thought we don't KNOW that Judith is dead, they couldn't really show a dead baby on TV, could they? They did a similar thing in season 1 or 2 where they showed a bloody car seat. I predicted that they will be out the prison by end of the season, so there's that. I think the rat feeding (and killing, which Tyrese found) was done by the little girl that Carrol thought. Also, props to that little girl for popping some caps.
Overall, very satisfied and exited for the second half of season 3. They are on the move again, Governor is dead, and they are split up. Multiple story lines available, multiple questions. What happened with those who stayed back? What about those on the bus? What about the radio signal they heard in the car episode 3-4?
Very excited for second half of this season.

Two questions... what the hell is up with the rat on a board in the corner... and when are they going to act of the radio transmission...

Oh they'll definitely bring in more. I was just pointing out that eventually it gets to a point where the main characters have to stick around. Fans get attached, etc.

Of course killing off main characters is one of the defining characteristics of the show, so what do I know.

I think the rat was killed by the same person who has been feeding the rats to walkers at night...

Little blonde girl that capped one guy, the one that Carrol cared for. At least that's what I'm guessing.

Seems to me that Rick/Carl/Daryl/Michonne are more or less the core of the show

    Everyone else is expendable

FWIW, IDT the Gov is "dead", he was only stabbed in the lung

Thank goodness the Gov's people did not know what they were doing, infantry in that situation sole job is to protect the tank from other infantry, ie, dropping a grenade down the barrel of the main gun on the vehicle...
