I imagine every answer will be some form of "We are waiting for the results of the investigation"

It's hard not to think of Ross as really really stupid when you see him speak in public, but the sad truth is, he is a brilliant man when it comes to making $$$, putting all of us to shame. I just hope this eventually (like over the next eight games) translates on the football field somehow.

I agree he is a brilliant man when it comes to making money. Unfortunately making money and being a successful NFL owner don't always mesh. So far he has made one mistake after another as an NFL owner and he just doesn't appear to understand what it takes to bring a winning team to the fans of South Florida.

Right now, as the decision maker for this franchise, he has been a failure as an owner. This is shown clearly by the reduced lack of interest in the South Florida community now, compared to the interest in the team before he became the majority owner. Hopefully he will see the error of his ways as an NFL owner and he will make the tough personnel decisions required by getting rid of those individuals who aren't getting the job done and hiring more competent management personnel to replace them.

    Well..

You can hammer Ross all you want..but..at least hes smart enough to know hes not a GM. Would you rather be strapped with a Jerry Jones?

It would be the greatest single moment in television history if Tirico asked him a question he didn't want to answer and before Tirico was done asking it, he covered his ears and said "bla bla bla bla blah"...

    Well away from here
It would better if he pulled a Joe Namath from a few years ago as he hit on Suzy Kolber on the sidelines. He was visibly tanked.

I'd love to see Ross just drunk and get caught off guard - eventually saying some funny stuff like "Ireland's a whore, let alone his mom", and "Joe Philbin is my backup janitor" etc.

I guarantee he's gonna try to deflect the recent drama by saying something like, "What I wanna talk about is our team that's on the field that's in the playoff hunt. Why isn't that getting any attention? You know, we've got a great young quarterback here and the defense is getting healthy."

Indeed... but they don't care about that cause there isn't any ratings in it...

If Ross really wants to have some fun at ESPN's expense - hit Mike with questions of his own around the multiple sexual harassment, groping, sexual solicitation, and stalking incidents that Tirico has been involved in or accused of in the past 20 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tirico

Mike: "Mr Ross would you like to speak about the sexual harassment allegations directed at Richie Incognito?"
Ross: "Well Mike, would you like to speak about you own over the past 20 years and how ESPN has covered your ***?"

Ross isn't the most charismatic guy in the world, but neither is he an idiot. I imagine this interview will barely move the needle in terms of perception.

Armando just announced on Pro Football Talk that Ross has called Shula, Marino, and others and said he is prepared to take drastic steps in response to the events of the past week and that everyone's jobs is on the line. He named Ireland specifically.

Rodney Harrison is saying that this should bring the players and team together and help unite them and can serve as a catalyst for winning. Said if the Fins can't beat a team as bad as the Bucs, Philbin should be fired tomorrow.

Scott Pioli is saying that this is more of a distraction for the FO and affects draft preparations more than affects the team preparation or play itself.

Ross set up internal committee on code of conduct...yes, named Dungy, Shula, Marino, Curtis Martin and one other to committee...would like to extend it to 4 others....total of 9 perhaps. Protects Ross from his own rush to judgment on players actions.

Ross just finished speaking to the media...

    - Philbin called Ross immediately after lunch room incident instead of calling Ireland. Interesting.

    - Ross has been texting Martin directly.

    - Ross insisted on outside investigation to avoid any accusations of a cover up or impropriety.

    - Praises Philbin for his abilities and character.

    - Forming committee to monitor team - Dungy, Shula, Marino, Philbin, and others.

    - Apologies to fans.

    - Tells media he isn't going to respond to speculation and he is only going to deal with the facts.

    - Laughs are reporter being an *** and hounding him about why Cogs is still on team and whether he feels he still has control over the team.

I listen to the interview and didn't hear the bold part above. I heard him say he was called immediately but nothing about instead of Ireland, in fact I didn't hear him mention Ireland at all which may be telling in itself.

It wasn't stated and that I didn't mean to imply that Philbin didn't call Ireland as well. What I was stating was that normally you'd expect Philbin to call Ireland and for Ireland to call or relay the information Ross. Instead Philbin called Ross. That is what I found interesting. How many Head Coaches deal directly with the Owner outside of Dallas and here?

Tony Dungy is a good man. Not sure of the connection, but also not sure of the Curtis Martin connection (perhaps through Parcells?).

My only advice to Ross would be to enlist the likes of Csonka, Kooch, Buoniconti and others from the early to mid 70's Dolphins teams. They set the standard for all Dolphins to follow IMHO.

Not really.Remember it was Ross that selected Philbin neglecting Irelands choice. There was a direct relationship established .He may have have even assigned Aponte to keep an eye on that relati onship. We heard that she was very close to Philbin and talked frequently to him.

IMO its likely that Ross was not completely confident in Ireland but thought he deserved another chance .That chance was blown apart .The question now is when will Ireland be fired

Curtis Martin was known for being a locker room leader and, more specifically, a great locker room mediator. Ross could be looking at him for wisdom is dealing with locker room conflict.

Dungy and Martin are high character guys and bring an outside perspective perhaps. Not sure how they are connected to Ross though.

Csonka and Buoniconti aren't exactly known for their congeniality. lol...

I believe Curtis Martin lives in New York and owns a few businesses up there. Maybe they've done business together in the past and became friends. Also Ross tried to buy the Jets in 2000 but lost out to Woody Johnson.

Maybe not. But, they knew how to win. And, at the end of the day winning cures a lot of evils.

They also knew how to compete at a very high level. How to play for the guy next to you. They were "pros." Of course, it was a different time, a different game. A different world really. But, you know...some things still hold true.
