I've been a Philbin fan, personally still willing to give him a chance. That said I see why he could be shown the door, and I can't argue it. My concern is Tannehill. Franchise QB's are hard to find, and I think we have one in RT. When was the last time a mob-HOF QB switched head coaches and turned the corner? It seems to me that when coaches usually get **** canned the QB goes with. I think a large part of RT's success is that Sherman is coaching him as we'll. Continuity breeds success in the NFL. I have my issues with Philbin but in willing to put those on the back burner for the good of our QB situation. Is that wrong? This is Philbins first HC gig too. There have been some gaffes and I question his leadership skills, but expecting him to have immediate success is asking a lot too. This is his 2nd year correct? I say a good 3-4 years to see how they develops is reasonable.
No, IMO. If a new gm and HC take over, Tannehill will be one of the only things that duo will be happy about. We might be a pretty enticing gig for a HC/GM because finding a franchise QB is the hardest thing to do. We got it covered IMO.
If you get a good coach he's gonna see that in Tannehill he has a good QB he can work with. Tannehill is still green, he is still clay, and a good coach can find the tools to mold that clay into something. He is also a smart guy. No reason to think he cannot quickly grasp a new offense should it be necessary.
The issue isn't with Philbin. The issue is with the guy giving Philbin talent to field a football team.
I beg to differ. After this past week he couldn't game plan properly to beat an 0-8 team? Philbin and his staff are part of the problem.
