No he doesn't agree with the majority. Were all dumb idiots to that guy. His reasoning is different then ours.

He let philbin down In the off-season. Weird people have been calling for his head all off-season. But we were wrong then and still are. That wasn't manning up. He's saying I want Jeff ireland gone but for different reasons than you idiot posters who also want Jeff gone.

    Lol.

I still dont understand why some people hate the Dion Jordan pick. Kid is a rookie. year 1 doesn't mean **** and the sky is the limit for him. Not his fault Philbin refuses to play him, despite out shining OV in every way on a limited playing schedule. I'm looking forward to Jason Taylor 2.0 for the next decade.

It really doesn't make even a tiny bit of difference what anyone on this board or any other thinks. The only opinion that matters is Ross'. All the hand-wringing and hand-waving here is amateur theatrics by comparison. We just have to hope that Ross has the sense to find someone who actually knows anything about managing an NFL team and evaluating talent.
Really, I feel sad and embarrassed more than angry by now. I'm too tired to be angry.

I've actually been in favor of firing Ireland before this game. There are posts to prove it too. I made my change based on info that was in the Club.

I pretty much agree with you. I was the same. On the fence with Ireland. He hadn't shown me either way yet. I've made up my mind about him now. It's clear.

How the hell did he manage to whiff so spectacularly this offseason with his big ticket FA additions? The trifecta of suck that is Mike Wallace, Dannell Ellerbe and Phil Wheeler is just a laughably bad haul for a team primed to take that 'next step'.

Does it really matter why he wants Ireland gone? The fact is that he now agrees Ireland needs to be fired and that Philbin should also be let go if the Dolphins don't turn it around over the next 7 games.

This is all the majority of us have been stating for some time. He and I still probably don't agree that Ireland needs to be replaced because I believe Ireland hasn't provided this team with enough high quality talent, but I don't care anymore. As long as Ireland is not the GM after this season, I will be happy and I just hope the next GM does a far better job.

Well I don't worry about what anyone says about me on this forum. If I did, I wouldn't have been writing on this forum for the past three years to begin with. I know I'm not stupid and I'm entitled to my opinions, whether others agree with these opinions or not.

If staying mad at Fin D makes some of you happy, that's on you. Actually I am a nice guy and I'm willing to accept that a person can change his mind. When I am attacked on this forum, I'll attack back, but I get over it and everyone else should too. I've never been one to hold grudges and I'm certainly not going to start now.

That was the heart of the debate. Instead of saying we were right, you are now...even still...calling us mouth breathers and insulting us.

But I had seen enough after 4 seasons. I had seen enough after Parcells had clearly left the building.

Every team has talent. The jags have talent. The 1-8 Bucs have quite a good bit of it. We have some talented guys. EVERY team has it. But we do not have nearly enough of it, and we never did. And we made huge misses at critical junctions all along the way.

Emotionally driven? No, we just want to win. We just want someone who can pick solid players a greater percent of the time, put a strong team together, and rep the Dolphins well. You think there are ulterior motives here. But there's not.

People have an opinion about what makes us good or bad. And they go with it. They want to win, it's pure and simple.

And the truth is, we all are wrong at times...right at others.

That's the key point, then. We do have enough talent. We aren't as talented as Seattle or Denver, but we are a very talented team. Ireland's problem is the one glaring problem unit every season since he took over from Parcells. Last year our WRs sucked. This year, even with Wallace doing his best ***** impression, the unit is a major strength. We we're talented enough to beat everyone but the Saints this year. We didn't, but that doesn't automatically mean it was because of talent. You guys think that and you're wrong.

I like Philbin more than I thought I would. Even now. But at the time of his hiring, it reminded me of cam Cameron. Defense had been good, so let's get an offensive guy in here.

And Philbin certainly has yielded better results.
But now, some comps are transpiring between these two offensive huckleberrys. They seem to communicate poorly. They have devastated locker rooms. They are losing. And they have owners left reeling and a franchise that is a laughing stock.

Even I thought I was wrong about my initial assessment, but maybe I wasn't.

Find D, just take your medicine and let it go. You can't make a post about admitting your mistake and accepting the crow, and then be defensive when people want to pile on. Just take it, and move on. Even if you feel some of the dirt being piled on is a bit undeserved.

It's pretty clear why Ireland will be fired.

"Jeff Ireland already has the reputation in league circles for being a guy who 'we can't believe he still has his job."
    - Michael Silver

Boy does Ross feel stupid for keeping this guy when everyone could see he was a joke except for the homer fans like you.

    Are you crazy?

I am not content with either

    A. A Mediocre team.

    Or

    B. A team built to get butt raped in the playoffs.

Our WRs are not good enough yet. And they are playing as well as they are, IMO, because of RT.

Our o lineisI a complete tear down obviously. We have had to move away from the classical TE approach due to our roster. Clay has been good as an H back tho.

We have amassed 2 solid halfs of football running the ball. Danny Thomas is the shining example of Ireland's legacy here. Our run game is pathetic. Beyond pathetic.

We have holes and depth issue in the secondary. Our LBs are very very average, void of that stud that helps make a unit good to great. And the d-line is good...well except for last night, costing us the game with that pathetic performance.

We're not a talented enough team, not even close. We've been hanging with and playing competitively with other slapdick teams. A top tier team would mop the floor with our talent.

I'm closing this thread for a little while until I can sort everything out and assign points accordingly.

Some of you need to refamiliarize yourselves with the terms of service. This thread is not what this website is about.

EDIT: After editing and deleting threads, I'm reopening this thread. However, if it goes off course again we will close it and assign points accordingly.

We're all fans of the same team on this message board - which, as far as I know, means we have a rooting interest in our team (the Miami Dolphins). If you don't agree with a poster, there's no reason to go after them personally. Just agree to disagree and move on.

Yesterday's loss sucked. For some fans, it served as a lynchpin to make decisions about the direction of the team. I'm in that same boat. Despite hearing from the media about how Ireland was "desperate" this offseason, I looked at the pieces and thought, "yeah, this team can make some noise." Then we started 3-0 and it seemed like we had a real shot at the playoffs, maybe even winning the AFC East.

Since then, of course, the wheels have fallen off and we find ourselves staring at another season of mediocrity with a historically bad offensive line. This shouldn't make anyone who considers themselves a fan of this team happy. It's just a further indictment of how out-of-touch our GM was in terms of putting the team together. For some of us, like me, it took us awhile to come around to that fact.

But there's no reason to rub people's noses in it. There's no reason to say "I told you so." Grow up, agree to disagree, and move on.

As far as OC goes, I'd love to see them approach Pennington. It's no secret he has a great football mind, it was just his body that stopped him from being one of the great QBs...and he certainly can't do any worse than whatever empty suit has been filling the position the past decade.

11 days to prepare for 0-8 team on national tv, in what is technically a home game, and we come out and get behind 15-0. With a beautiful mixture of horrible special teams, horrible offense, and god awful defense.

We were flat. And we had every reason to come out balls blazing "us against the world"....however Philbin didnt take advantage.

Joe has to go. Period. And I did NOT feel that way a couple of weeks ago.

I try very hard to be positive about being a Dolphin fan all around but this morning is the first day I can ever remember not putting my Dolphins cap on to go to work. I have lost confidence. I knew the offense would have a rough time because the OL is missing to many pieces but to watch the defense crap out again did it for me I'm sick and tired of it.

This concept that Jeff Ireland's weakness lies in building a coherent roster, negligent decision-making with respect to glaring holes in the roster, etc...is hardly new. It's been the core argument against Jeff Ireland for years.

Or at least, among those that have attempted to attack the question with any kind of coherent argument, that's been the core of the argument.

Understandably, there have been many who have attacked the Fireland issue without any kind of thought out argument. So I'm not necessarily including them.

I think our only significant weakness is oline to be honest. Well that and overall depth, but I expect depth to be bad considering we completely changed our system last year.

Are we Pro Bowl at every other position? No. That;s the same as a hole though.

Didn't he say that he has considered the possibility of a front office role? He can still have his foundation and have a position on the team.
It would be great for PR, young players would love to listen to him, and there would be no hazing given who they would have to answer to.

Fin D, I respect you on these forums even when we don't agree and I will continue to respect you. But you would have come off so much better if you could have left posts like this out of it. It's very disingenuous for you to say, "I was wrong." then make the same argument many of us have been making for 2 years now and then say, "All those people were wrong and are still wrong." You know if you go back you'll find many of us were making those same arguments against Ireland you just did. But you viewed it as rabble because you didn't agree with it. It's not fair for you to continue to paint those of us who have simply been in the Fireland camp a little longer than most as rabble rousing morons.

Now is the time for this forum to heal. No one should be saying, "I told you so." and you shouldn't hold onto your negative opinions of some of us. Much like the Dolphins need to do, it's time for all of us to start fresh.

on Veterans day, this man showed a lot of bravery. Ireland used to draw fans apart, now we are coming together for one common cause. I'm really looking forward to next season and dethroning the Patriots. The pieces are there, just need the right general's and commanders.
