Did anybody notice last night that Jerry would turn his head to tannehill and then the ball was snapped a second later all night long?Maybe that's why Tampa bay was in the backfield on every running play.
I'm really skeptical that there's something as simple as that going on. The Bucs defensive line is in the backfield because they have a quick, active defensive line that the Dolphins have had problems with in general.
It was to deal with the noise but I would have rather had a couple of false starts or delay of games considering how much they were in our backfield. The problem is the team came out flat after a week of hype and the Tampa crowd got into it and got loud. Way to go fellas.
Was hoping he was turning around to see if Tannehill was going to shiv him for being such a bad offensive lineman, no such luck, incognito and martin were removed, Jerry is next.
Gerald McCoy is a scary good Defensive Tackle. He doesn't get the press of Suh, but he's just as good IMO. Probably a big reason why we were so inept in terms of running the football last night.
I don't think it's the head turning itself, its the amount of time that passes after it they got down. No matter how good DL's are, there were some plays where the DL got the jump right as the ball was snapped. That isn't skill. They were clued in somehow.
Gruden actually pointed this out during the game. He specifically said that Jerry looks back at Tannehill and it was helping the Bucs jump the snap.
Nah Josh Samuda did the same exact thing. Its by design. Bad design but at least on that dont blame JJ blame the coaches.
That's very much a skill, anticipating snap count and exploding out of your stance. They were pretty jumpy pre-snap and looked like they were going to come off-sides, so I doubt they knew something.
Gruden pointed that out in the first half. said if he noticed it then surely the D did as well and the D was at times it seemed moving as the ball was snapped. pointed this out in a couple of different threads now.
Yes it's a skill, but I'm saying it's not a skill you can hone without a tell. You don't anticipate the snap count without a tell. The left DE was already up before the ball was snapped. If it happens once or twice, sure they got lucky. If it happens a little more than that it's a failure to change it or conceal the tell.
Jerry looking back is not new. I think I first saw it in the NO game. Such a great strategy we are the only ones doing it.
He should keep his head turned towards the backfield. That way he can watch every lineman that blows by his ace and see how his Qb and Rb's are getting killed because of him.
