.. new on here at the board but have the same view as most of us Dolfans .. and that is we need a solid leader from the top down to take care of the football decisions

My dream would be to have the following structure:

Tony Dungy - Executive VP of Fotball
    Chris Polian - General Manager
Herm Edwards - Head Football Coach
    Lovie Smith - Defensive Co-Ordinator
    Jim Caldwell - Offensive Co-Ordinator / QB's Coach

These men have dignity and class. They all show the determination and patience it takes to win in this league. This would bring back instant credibility to our organization and to our owner whom I feel is very passionate about succeeding and making the dolphins name a cherished one, once again!

Herm Edwards? Not sure if serious...

Plus having Tony Dungy and Herm Edwards in the same building would just confuse the ever loving hell out of people.

A lot of fans would get the fiery post game conferences that they feel they lack from Philbin.

In all seriousness, as much flack as you might get -- and I'm not saying it's the right move either, but I don't think it'd be as bad as some people might think it is -- I think if Steve Ross could get Tony Dungy as an Exec of VP of Football, he'd do it. I don't think Dungy wants back in, though.

Dungy is a good man, but I have no idea if he would be a good executive of an NFL franchise or not.

Chris Polian was terrible once he took over for his father as the GM of the Colts. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing him as the next GM of the Dolphins. He is working for the Jaguars right now and worked in 2012 for the Falcons. Considering how poorly these two teams are playing this year and how bad the Colts were in his last year as the Colts GM, without Manning, I don't see him as someone the Dolphin organization should have interest in signing as their next GM.

Herm Edwards is decent on TV, but as an NFL head coach, he doesn't have a clue. I put him in the same class as Tony Sparano as an NFL HC and he isn't even as good as Joe Philbin. If Ross can't do better than Edwards as this teams next HC, he should just stick with Philbin.

Lovie Smith would certainly be an upgrade as the defensive coordinator, so I agree with you on this one.

Jim Calwell has done well with established NFL QB's, but I have no idea if he would be able to take Tannehill to the next level. I think their are better OC"s out there than Calwell and I would prefer getting one of those instead of Calwell.

Belicheat, Harbaugh, and Caroll have none of those things and yet they are great coaches.

outside of Lovie Smith, I hate every one of those choices. Dignity is important, but only a fraction of the worth of actually winning games.

    Welcome to the boards, 77....

I doubt that Dungy, as capable as he may be, is interested in this job. He's paid by the league to tutor/mentor certain players/staffs. He also collects from the network as an analyst. He works part time and likes what he's doing...I don't see him wanting to take on this job here, given that it'll be a complete rebuild of the organization (per your estimation).

I'd take Polian as GM, but it depends on who the HC is...if it's Herm Edwards, he' won't want Polian as his GM. Edwards has never really been that great a coach and could never get his teams "over the hump", so for those reasons, I wouldn't want him in that position. However, from a standpoint of "rebuild" he'd be a good option but he's never really won anything anywhere he's been...

Lovie Smith would be a good DC, but a) I think he want's back into the HC category, not coordinator and b) the Tampa 2 D, that he excels at has been exposed. We are still a few pieces away from the Coyle 4-3 and further away from a 3-4, however, we are furthest away from the right personnel for the Tampa 2...

Caldwell is another that is looking more towards a HC job, although I'm not too enamored with him at all. We have the makings of a decent WCO type O, and should expand on it, rather than rebuild completely....again...

These are all very good men, each of who is classy and dignified, but that's not what the fans expect...they expect wins and playoffs. I'm not convinced that those men collectively can get us where we all want to be...

I don't normally pick typos to comment on, but as someone who lives in the Northeast and speaks with the accent, this made me chuckle.

Edit: And it is common around here that when little kids spell phonetically, they spell it FOT.

Herm Edwards let a QB play with a torn rotator cuff.

That's enough for me to say..... Nope.

Honestly I'd rather we get the young up and comers and not the old retreads.

What this team needs besides a complete clear out is some fresh forward thinking.

Dungy has a ton of dignity and class, as long as you are Christian and not gay. He has no time for you then...

Polian has done absolutely nothing to warrant a GM position other than have an old man who, in his last job, ran a team into the ground.

That front office and coaching staff would be insufferable. I loathe the Cover-2. Herm has never had real success and Jim Caldwell coat tailed Peyton.

My lord what an awful idea, sorry man, it's retread city. This would make me step away from football for awhile.
