I don't think it is Cogs that brought embarrassment to this organization..........that would be Martin.
No, do not take him back no matter the results. He is not a good person and bad things follow in his wake. These incidents are only the latest in a string of incidents stretching back to college - there will be more. Let's not have it happen on our team again. And that doesn't even consider his sub-par play. And no, you cannot blame that on Martin. It is time to move on from the mistake that was Incognito and not look back.
No, the message you're sending is that players can do whatever they want, embarrass the organization and have virtually no consequences. If Richie is welcomed back with open arms you are telling the world that you are ok with his behavior. And you are doing all of the to obtain the services of a mediocre 31 year old Guard. If he were your star QB or DE I could at least understand putting up with the nonsense. For this guy, no thanks
Maybe it's just me, but I'd like more than just a report from that fat fvck Cole to believe this for sure happened. If you cut him for calling his teammates n*****s, then you have a double standard if others aren't dealt with in the same manner.
The other guys were smart enough or lucky enough not to get caught on tape. The guy that gets caught gets the heat. Perhaps his Mensa member teammates will now be more careful in the future
Last year he played 4+ games next to Martin and did just fine. No higher pct of sacks than when next to Jake.
Well of course. We only know what we know. The first time a guy gets arrested for pot isn't typically the first time he used pot, but since it's the first time he got caught its a first offense
Nothing favorable will come from the investigation.. Most likely they will side with the vic here.. I wouldn't be surprised if another player gets suspended, let's say dion Jordan because he got into a scuffle in practice with Martin.. Trust me, this isn't going to go away soon.. Once Ritchie's suspension is upheld then he counters, appeals, that puts him back on the roster, more cameras pointed at him instead of who's playing well.. Richie will never be a dolphin again, his outright release is right around the corner...
I wouldn't take him back, not only does he suck on the field but he makes the organization look bad. But putting his personality and the off the field issues behind this, he's just useless, not a good player.
FTR, I think Cogs should be cut, simply because it will help make nice with the NFL and be good for PR. If you can be cut for sucking, you can be cut for being the target of a witch hunt, both are detrimental to the team. However, you cannot police people's words like that. its one thing if he went on a radio show or said those things in public, he didn't. He was joking with no ill intent on the phone to a friend. The police state you're pretending should exist is absurd.
Cutting Incognito solely for good PR would cause a mutiny in the locker room IMO. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I'm not suggesting Incognito be arrested. He can say or do whatever he wants in private. But when he gets caught on tape yelling the n-word in public, then it's on him. And his employer is more than justified in firing him. He has a non guaranteed contract and can be released for any reason. Chad Johnson cursed at a press conference and Philbin was mad about it. Gave him a whole spiel about representing the organization in public. Then Chad was cut at the next sign of trouble. Richie has represented this org just as bad as Johnson. He deserves the release that is coming
Johnson got cut, because he headbutted his wife and got arrested. Guys do not generally get cut for language they use outside of their job. I also never insinuated you said he should be arrested.
you made a comparison that wasn't in the same hemisphere in the offensive dept..first offense my ***, I don't need him to have a 2nd offense to know the racism behind the pos. Ritchie's got a drinking problem and he went over the edge in a joking fashion..he served his punishment, I'm willing to give the guy another chance if this is all that's out there, and his teammates want him back.
Whether they generally get cut or not doesn't matter. You're right in that general sense but this isn't a general situation. I only mentioned arrest since you used the term "police state". Your job can be a police state if your employer wants. No 1st amendment at the office
And cutting Johnson resulted in players getting mad and pushing back on the coach's authority. It didn't go over well with the players, and Johnson headbutted a woman! Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I'm not defending Cooper. But unless you have knowledge of him using the n word at some other time, I can only judge him on the one time. I would have released him but the Eagles gave him a chance. As for Richie, you are asking for a 9th chance, not a 2nd. And drinking is no excuse for your behavior. He is responsible for his actions. I'm not suggesting he be banned from the NFL. Let him go someplace else if anybody wants him.
Sure. And if its justified, the employees will respect it. If it isn't justified the employees will not respect management. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
If these guys don't get that you can't go around screaming n***** and get caught in tape then they are idiots And if the Pats can win a SB after cutting Lawyer Mikloy and "hating" their coach, we will survive the loss of Richie Incognito
This is the point I keep raising; that the NFL's main goal here is to NOT let this spread to a debate about whether all of football culture is disturbingly wrong and inappopriate. If this is 'typical' of all NFL lockerrooms... and the behavior is illegal and against workplace laws, then we have a major problem for the league, and the sport. Major.
I want to know the truth about the golf course sexual harassment incident's 'cover-up' and the racist stuff with the staffer. Because if either one or both of those is true, then I can't abide Richie on this team in good conscience. And if the golf course incident was 'hushed' and the organization's main agenda was to not lose face publicly and keep their player playing for them, instead of doing the right thing morally, then I'd like to know the decision drivers behind that lack of decency as well. Fandom is emotional. If I can't believe in a team with all my heart, that's a lot like being in a relationship with someone you don't fully love or trust. No bueno.
It's not just about using the word, it's the context and demeanor behind the word that was truly evil..two completely different context, the fact that you keep debating without acknowledging the difference confuses me.
There certainly is no shortage of self righteous indignation around here. Until somebody can prove the RI is guilty of anything beyond having bad taste I give him the benefit of doubt same as I am giving Martin at this point. If nothing that proves the allegation is uncovered by this investigation then I would have no problem with allowing him back on the team. There really is no valid reason to cut him based on his conduct if nothing is proved.
He's as good as gone. You could see it in Ross's interview when he said he was advised not to make any snap decisions as a legal safeguard. The Front Office won't have the say on this one. Ross is out to show he will not tolerate this language or behavior in the organization and Ritchie is a dead man walking in Miami.
I don't give a rats *** or a flying f*** with what Cogs said. If he can help this team make it the playoffs, I am 100% pro reinstatment. That is my only barometer. We haven't sniffed a successful season in 5 years and am all in with bringing him back if he can give us that extra push to compete come December. Screw everything else.
Racism? So Mike Pouncy hates black people because he hangs with Cogs? Is this some episode of the Chappelle show where all the blacks on the team that support Cogs and have insisted that he was an honorary black man self-loathing blacks? Or is it possible that he isn't racist and was just speaking the acceptable lingo of the locker room?
Accusations of sexual assault =/= sexual assault happened Using the n-word =/= racism Is he likely guilty of the sex assault stuff? Probably and if true, he should be cut for that....and in jail. I s he likely guilty of being a racist? No. Not at all.
Ok...Im not defending Richie. But, he wasnt guilty of sexual assault. We dont know what all of the details are, and obviously the woman in concern, wasnt that upset about it, because she never pressed charges. Now, whether that is because she accepted money, or, there is more information to the story then what you read about in the police report, and paper, who knows. But..you cant use sexual assault on him, because A) we dont know..and B) he was never charged with it. I think we have gone over the racism thing. If multiple black team mates past and present, have said with no doubt, Richie is not a racist, then again, all your doing is espousing what the media has said. Here's my take, for what its worth. I actually value Ricky William's opinion. I dont know the man, so all I can go by is what I read, and who seems the most objective voice on the matter. To me that is what I have heard from Ricky Williams. I think Richie Incognito is a meat head and a bully when he is drunk and having what he considers to be fun. If the NFL investigators conclude something in his favor, AND...he agrees to get counseling for alcohol abuse, I would accept him back on the team. I think allot of his antics happen as a result of him being schnockered. The alcohol counseling would be my line.
So becaue Richie didn't have eil intentions, it's ok that he goes around screaming the n word in public? Lot's of people who mess up don't have evil intentions. But they're still responsible for their actions and have to accept the consequences that go along with it. I want you to think of any other employer, in any other field, who would keep Incognito on the team after seeing that video and knowing all the other stuff that we 100% know to be true about him. I'll even discount the golf course and staffer incidents. You argued that Richie was drunk so that mitigates his behavior. So was Cooper who was slurring fairly obviously on that video. Being a drunk is not an excuse. I support this team with my wallet as well as my fandom. I'm not interested in hearing excuses about the context of what Richie did. He's a disgrace. And to top it off, he's not even that good to go through all this agita. I'll admit my hypocrisy that if Richie were some superstar, or he was a QB, or some other incredibly important position, I might give him a pass. I'm not proud of that, but I don't know what my reaction would be. What I do know for sure is that I don't want my kids rooting for a team that makes excuses for this guy or asks me to look at the context of what he's done.
But you would want your kids rooting for the team if it was Dan Marino? Also, I would presume if some African Americans on the team called him a dumb cracker hillbilly, you would have no problem holding them to the same standard, correct?
