What you think of it since he lost again to the cowboys and is currently 4-7 and playoffs likely unreachable...would u take him..(i like Philbin but the results are missing to keep him)

oh Hell no , I would rather have a semi young coach example Mike Shula or Steve Mariuchi or even Lovie Smith. Coughlin is about to hang t up so we need to go with someone younger.

No thanks, the guy is very old... I'd give him front office consideration though. Respectable coach and good talent evaluator.

If he is fired in New York then he will most likely retire.

We aren't eliminated from the playoffs yet, even with this team being as mediocre and disappointing as it has.

Yes I would take Coughlin in a heartbeat but the Mara family loves the job he does. If he is canned he would most likely be reassigned within the nyg front office. Also you need to realize that as long as his son in law, Chris Snee, is a giant he's probably not leaving that organization willingly.

Coughlin only has 2 SB victories against our biggest rival, hammered Marino out of the league with a 62-7 drubbing, took a young Jags team to the AFC Cahmpionship game, managed to change his coaching style to fit the needs of his players. Yeah he is old, that's what happens when you accomplish a lot, and some of it being recent.

He's not just old, he's really old. You give that guy a 3-4 year contract and he'll be 70 at the end of it. No thank you. and Coughlin's success has come with one of the more stable franchises in the NFL. with his ups-and-downs, he would have been fired twice here in Miami. Given how ready this fanbase is for jumping off the Philbin bandwagon after 27 games, they would not have the patience for a coach like Coughlin

Are you taliking about the stable starter franchise Jags, or the 4-12 Giants that he took over? You're talking about a guy who is in the toughest media/fan market in the country, and made tough decisions regarding his QB & RB situations, without kowtowing to the media or fanbase. Yeah age is a muther****er for some people to look past. I mean if Warren Buffet were giving me financial advice I wouldn't listen, the guy's old.

First, I really want Philbin to have another year as the HC. Second, if not I would consider Coughlin, but not at his age.

I'd rather get an established head coach. I'm kinda done with the take an o-coordinator that's never been a hc experiment.

Regardless of this season's outcome our coaches and front office are getting overhauled. I got a feeling Ross is going to upend the franchise yet again and with him seeking the guidance of Marino and Shula now i don't see it far fetched for them to goafter Youngshula for the head coaching job if it becomes open.

No, and I will tell you why. It's a personal preference for me. I don't want someone who is old school and a traditional NFL thinker. I want someone that wants to come into the league and turn it on its ear. I want to do something like Philly did this past year by hiring Chip Kelly. Out with the old guard and in with the new. It's time to change the league and shake things up.

    Give me GUS MALZAHN!

    Ugh.

I couldn't be more the complete opposite. This orginization doesnt flash and recklesness. It needs a strong hand to guide it out of the craphole that its been in for more than a decade. Someone who know's what he's doing and has a track record. Four straight HC hires who've never done it in the NFL. Three straight who were never a HC at a top college either, and two straight who weren't even total control coordinators.

    All total failures.

Coughlin is a great coach and he has the hardware to prove it. But no. I want someone who hasn't won already, Someone who isn't about to retire in a couple of years. Someone who is still hungry!

Besides, he's a little too close to Parcells for me at this point.

IF Ross decides to pull the carpet under this WCO experiment, I am all for Coughlin. There isn't a better football coach or mind the Dolphins could possibly get than Coughlin. He'd be perfect. Going back to pro style, he could utilize some of the playmakers on the roster, the Oline and the D would get stabilized 100%. Coughlin is on mount rushmore of coaches in the NFL.

If it weren't for his age I would be all for it. He's at the point where he needs to retire from coaching. Now being a part of the front office? I could get with that, he's A LOT better than some people here are giving him credit for but I do think you have to consider age at this point for him. Sucks but we all get old and need to retire at some point.

You assume he wants to reture or have a FO job and if he was looking for an out he had it at 0-6.
