No WRs last year and a crappy secondary, with crap coaching. No RB, no OL, No LBs, No TE and still no #1 WR this year. And yet more ****ty coaching. If anyone wants to defend him be my ****ing guest. But all Ross needs to know is that Ireland has set Tannehill up to fail completely. Fire Ireland out of a canon and into the sun.
I hate to be that guy but he did add Keller and unfortunately he blew out his knee. Clay has stepped up. Otherwise, yes.
I do agree that he needs to be fired. He's brought talent to this team but it doesn't fit the scheme. I want mobile lineman in a zone blocking scheme, not Clabo, Jerry and Incognito.
That's the problem, he has tried for 6 years to fit square pegs into round holes. It doesn't work that way Jeffy boy.
Clay has stepped up but he's hardly the kind of tight end I'd want as my first option.. Good second option and would have fit well with Jared Cook if Ireland closed to the deal.
I watch other teams the Pats, They lose a player on the O-Line and the backup fills in and they don't miss a beat. Vollmer and Solder come to mind. Then again it is Brady as QB
There is no defending him. He's a mediocre (possibly bad GM). Some supporters of his might say he's brough some talent here. Well ,of course he has. EVERY GM brings some talent to a team. He's done more to hinder us than help us though. What you need is a GM who can actually build a well rounded team through draft and free agency, and put the right staff in place. Mike Sherman blows. Coyle isn't much better. Will they be fired? No, they won't, because the Dolphins are a mediocre franchise. Ireland shouldn't be an NFL GM...the Dolphins have been the EXACT same team they've been since 2008. They haven't changed at all, they are the same field goal kicking offense they've been since then. And Ireland is the constant who has been here that entire time.
i hate ireland also...but a competent coaching staff can win with this team. i look at the arizona cardinals, which are 7-4, and the only difference between them and us is a half decent coaching staff. i have come to hate philbin and his staff even more than ireland. i never thought it could happen, but our coaches are pathetic.
here is where I draw the line with this club. a good coach doesn't keep calling plays that don't work repeatedly and abandon the plays that really work. its one thing to play the Saints or the Ravens and play well but get beat. Its not acceptable to keep giving up 24 points + in the second half of games and keep losing. losing to the Bills and Buccs unacceptable and even disgraceful . Ireland drafts have never been good enough to put us in the same league with the Patriots let alone put us ahead of them. how many years should it take to rebuild ? I think our main woes tend to be head coach and coaching staff but Ireland should be accountable considering how bad of a P.R. NIGHTMARE that we are enduring right now.. Losing to bad ot average teams + scandals should never be tolerated .
To be fair Jerry and Incognito were brought in when Sparano was the coach and the team was using a power blocking scheme.
It is pretty amazing how when one glaring hole in the offense gets patched, it is replaced with an equally glaring hole somewhere else. We had the WRs in BM, Hartline and Bess, but not the QB. Then we get the QB but have no WRs. We get the QB but the line sucks and the RBs are suspect.
Regarding some glancing comments: Clay is a playmaker and solid one week, and utterly sucks the next. This is the Pro's. Be good of 16 weeks. Mike Sherman is not suited to call plays in this league anymore. He simply is not. And Philbin is not about to can his old old old time friends ***. We need a play caller. Phiblin has this team ready to compete. We don't "suck" as a team. We have a promising young QB, and a solid D. But we need to score. Our offensive has seen one too many erectile dysfunction commercials. Flaccid.
He is one of the 5 worst GM's in any sport and it's a joke that he still has a job and it's completely insane that he was rewarded for failure when we gave him an extension coming off 4 straight losing seasons.
I believe Keller would have made a real difference to this team. I am really stunned that Clabo has been so bad. I really thought he would be at least fair. Good looking check book for next year.
Actually I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised, the only other time I can think of a coach or GM receiving a contract extension following consecutive losing seasons it was our same clueless owner who was responsible for handing it out.
People who whine and complain constantly about the same thing are so annoying. Atleast bump your last unnecessary rant thread to do this crap. The time will come when we evaluate the gm and possibly replace.... But stop whining already. Football is a man's game.Wouldn't it be ridiculous if I started a few threads a week to complain about Wallace's alligator arms?
I've never been a "fire Ireland" guy though I've been very frustrated with him for some time. He does make some good calls but so many of his drafts have been failures. - When you draft a QB #8 in the draft, he Better be an F-ing Hell of a QB. - When you trade up to #3 in the draft, you Better land a stud who can be somewhat productive. - When you draft O-linemen in rounds 2 and 3 - at least a couple need to become very productive. He's had 3 of those. One is off the team; another is overweight and gets burned too often as an OG; the third got destroyed utterly in pre-season and is a 'tweener' who is not even CLOSE to starting. - When you let a Pro Bowl RB go for not a ton of $$ and he's having a very productive season, you better have a stud in the wings. He doesn't. Not only has Ireland made a ton of mistakes; he also really doesn't fit with a Joe Philbin Green Bay background. Ireland doesn't draft those kinds of guys; hasn't been a GM in that system. The Dolphins need another Force Quit - Restart. As much as I hate to say that. They need an Ozzie Newsome type who can be a long-term, 20 year GM and get some strong coaching in the fold with a great talent evaluation team. And, a single-minded, winning philosophy. This overhaul has to happen this off-season. Ross, however, is ultimately to blame in all of this. He has control over whether he keeps Ireland or not. But, Ireland has been a total mess for this franchise.
