I know we don't need to be on the front page of ESPN daily for bullygate, but in the last 2 weeks it's been dead quiet on that front. The league has had their interviews, the coaches have had their say, there have been many accusations, but nothing has been done about any of it. I know were waiting to hear more but it's starting to worry me that Ross is going to let this get brushed under the carpet and carry on as if this team is fine.

I mean can he keep Ireland? I sure hope nope hes an albatross around this teams neck, Philbin consistently allows his team to be out manned, out hearted, and out coached against teams we should be winning against. Ross already says he loves the man, but while I was original sold on him IM not sure he can put a team together around him to take us to the next level much less a Superbowl.

I imagine this team going 8-8 missing the playoffs and Ross using the Bullygate as a reason we were distracted. Cut Incognito and act like the problem is solved relieving him of having to make some hard choices. I dunno maybe it's me, but if Ross wanted to make a statement and we already know Ireland has done some wrong he would have stepped up and said Jeff Ireland is gone we don't conduct ourselves this way.

Since he hasn't acted it's worrying to me that next year will be more of the same? Am I over reacting to the quietness? if we go 8-8 are changes made? What do you think Ross should and will do??

You're worried that the team didn't participate in workplace harassment???

He can do whatever he wants he owns the team.

Just because he hasn't acted now doesn't mean he won't act after the investigation is over and results are found.

    Yes, I think you are.

Let me check my magic 8-ball. "Cannot predict now".

I think the two players should be cut, and I think it is hard to find a GM, so serious consideration should be made as to whether or not Ireland is kept, and that is why I am not upset about the wait currently. I think, depending on the results, some action needs to be taken with one or both players. I think trade or cut. I'm not sure what he will do I'm not a mind-reader.

It doesn't do any good to clean house now. He needs to do it in the off-season though.

I think it might be dying down too. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like we're going to get the bombshell revelation that was hinted about here. Hey, if the league can sweep the Patriots Super Bowl cheating under the rug, why not this?

    Bingo.

They will drop this. Because just like the Spygate, this is a league-wide thing. OT: Owners knew that the public seeing those tapes would open up a huge can of worms and the integrity of the game coming into question would be damning.

The league would be huge hypocrites not to.

The team is going to be in sphincter-clenching lockdown at this point. We probably won't get much more detail, and I think if anything you'd hope nothing else more damaging comes out.

Since this happens in every day in every locker room, it should be brushed and forgotten.

The reality is that this investigation will become irrelevant in regards to Ireland and the coaching staff if this team should end up winning 9 or 10 games and make the playoffs. If this should happen, Ross will merely state that he has made the changes necessary to prevent incidents like this from happening again and Ireland will be retained as the teams GM, along with the coaching staff.

If the Dolphins finish 8-8 or worse, Ross may or may not decide to get rid of Ireland and force Philbin to replace some members of his coaching staff. I have wanted Ireland gone for more than two years, but the fact is that if the team makes the playoffs this year, he won't be going anywhere.

Whether changes are made after this season in the front office or the coaching staff will come down to the Dolphins record this season. I don't think this investigation will have anything to do with who is retained and who isn't at the front office level.

Martin certainly won't be returning, but that is no great loss because he wasn't very good to begin with. Incognito is a free agent after this season and there was no way of knowing if he would sign anther contract with the Dolphins or not after this season. The OL was terrible with Martin and Incognito in the lineup, so they needed to be replaced after this season anyway.

Busting a guy's balls is fine, I do it, you do it, everyone here has done it.
Richie admitted that he now realizes crossed a line, that he didn't know Martin had drew.
As for the staffer, there is no defending Richie there(if he did do that). The staffer is not a 6'5 300 LB lineman, he or she cant defend themselves.

IDK, Dorf...I was one that always thought we'd end the season 8-8 or worse from the start of the season. So, IMHO, we've overperformed to this point, and that's saying alot given the events of Martingate and such....

It is in the league's best interest to make sure this does not become a big issue focusing on how all of football has this unacceptable locker room culture.

That would harm the entire league and sport.

So my guess is they will either vilify the Dolphins and make us look like a dysfunctional franchise that is *unlike* typical NFL locker rooms, or they will try to sweep the whole thing under the carpet once the main buzz dies down.

My guess is, they will try to hang all of this on Jeff Ireland as the scapegoat (and a worthy one he is).

Whatever makes the league come out looking the best.

By the way, people mention draft picks being stripped as punishment. I don't see that happening.

I think that the league knows if it pushes too hard on punishing the Dolphins, then the Dolphins players, coaches, and organization may spring leaks that begin saying "Hey unfair! This is not just US this is every team in our division! This is every locker room in the league!"

The organization will probably be okay with Jeff Ireland being made an example of, so long as the team itself is not competitively punished with the loss of draft picks.

It will be very interesting to see what happens.

    LIKELY FALL GUYS:
    Ireland
    Turner

But this is where it gets tricky. Because if Turner is to blame then Sherman and Philbin are to blame as his superiors.

The other sticky one is Richie Incognito. I think they punish him, but lightly and then let him go to another team. If they try to make an example of Richie, he will expose that the whole system was on his side and supporting his approach. And then we have another major disaster. I think the Dolphins and league would like to avoid that. Incognito filing a grievance was a show from his camp that they will not passively allow Richie to be the fall guy and scapegoat for this.

    So… who gets punished? IMO

    Ireland 100% chance
Turner, I think they quietly sneak him out the back door and let him go. Wording things to make it seem he operated without the approval of Philbin, Sherman or anyone outside that O-line room.
Incognito, I think they come to a settlement with him and go their separate ways… but how? if he is punished by the league that means lost game checks, and Richie would fight that as wrongful… this is complicated even more by whether the NFLPA decides to back Richie up on that claim. This could in fact, be a nice chance for the NFLPA to tell the league "If you want us to not cause trouble for you on this, you're gonna owe us a favor, and some concessions on the next negotiation." I mean, really, the NFLPA could become a fly in the ointment here.

I don't think we've heard the last from the NFL on this whole thing. I think they're still gather information and trying to figure what to. Unfortunately, I think the team is going to be used as an example. They'll probably pass new rules/policies prohibiting the use of the N-word, bullying, etc., etc., etc. So, from that standpoint, and assuming I'm right, I think Ross could be embarrassed enough to make some changes. Especially if it ends up being another losing season, which is looking more and more likely.

With the remaining schedule (Jests twice, NE, Pitt & Buffalo) and based on our current W/L record, I honestly don't see us with a winning record. Especially since three of those games are away, and in a cold climate. I predict 7-9 or 6-10, and suspect Ireland will ultimately be let go. Philbin's probably safe for at least one more season regardless of the outcome this season. Ross seems very enamored with him.

I think the most interesting aspect of this is the fact that the two people Wells spent the most time with was Jim Turner and Jeff Ireland, spending more time with Jeff than anyone. To me, that tells me that those two are probably the two main targets of the investigation.

So let me ask you something about this "pussifiction of America". I used to work with a dude who fought for America in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our boss say something highly inappropriate to him. He asked for an apology and didn't get one. He reported him for harassment in the workplace. Would you call him a pu$$y?

The pussification has to do with the fact that anytime somebody is insulted they run to a lawyer. Deal with it like man.

If it was such a horrible thing he said, why is it just coming out now??

Maybe he/she was afraid of the 300 pound Incognado he had to see everyday? Maybe he/she liked their job and was afraid they would have to lose it if they went to someone?

To claim they are pu$$ies because it comes out after Incognito is gone is slightly irrational, there can be many reasons they didn't speak about it sooner. Maybe they just felt they could safely speak about it, and still keep their job now.

I don't know either way, but I wouldn't judge their "toughness" from this situation, as I don't know all the facts - not even close.

I've spent an entire career dealing with the fallout of people dealing with things "like a man." It's not all that it's cracked up to be.

I'm not very supportive of Martin in this situation but I've seen people with his mental state take things a lot further than "why didn't he just go punch him?" All considered, maybe he did choose the best course of action.

Not even close, he gave the dude a chance to apologize, the dude didn't, so he filed a grievance and moved on.

I don't know, I highly respected the guy, he was a war veteran who teaches in a very low-income neighborhood. I see this as the mature way of dealing with it.

Martin is a smart guy. When the dust settles, if he hasn't realized it yet, he's going to realize that it was his actions that turned this into an international story. Incognito is a schmuck that exists in every locker room in every sport.

There was no need to drag the entire organization through the mud like this.
