Lose a RB for the year and have your practice squad O-Linemen starting? Sign a DT!

Starks came up a bit gimpy early in that game. He came back strong, though. Could just be a move just in case....

I was real irritated that they kept a 3rd 3-technique(and Vaughn Martin on top of that) over Francis.

I'd like to see him show something, because I think physically he's a bit more along the lines of what I'd like to see in a 1-technique than Soliai.

Love this move. He looked like a handful in the preseason. Hopefully he softens the blow when we lose big Paul and/or Starks this offseason. Develop this big mother!

Also maybe we get to see him this week since Starks might be dinged and we are playing the Jets who will do anything to keep the ball out of Geno's hands. Jets will rush no less that 1,000x this weekend.

It's amazing to me how people act like this about bottom of the roster moves, invariably without justification.

I am surprised we didn't sign him the first time we had the chance. Was that when we signed Marvin Austin? Though after signing Austin, I am surprised he was cut so soon, because he looked decent in the limited snaps he did get.

Austin got signed prior to the New Orleans game and was gone after the next home game I believe. I know he wasn't on Miami's roster until after Martin got hurt against Atlanta.

Sometimes. I didn't today. I woke up late and was rushing out the door because I stayed up too late watching Dayton's win over Gonzaga last night. Tell me one of his tweets got mentioned or something like that!?!

    AMERICA!
Francis sounds very excited to be back.

“I woke up with 10 missed calls from my dad and I thought something bad happened so I called him back,” said Francis, who was a four-year letterman at the University of Maryland. “He said, ‘Your agent’s been trying to get in contact with you. He keeps calling me and he said you’re not answering.’ It was like 9 in the morning and we had the day off and I was going to sleep in until probably at least 10. So I jumped up and called my agent he told me that (Dolphins General Manager) Jeff Ireland called him and asked him if I’d be willing to join the active roster and leave the practice squad in New England.

“I said, ‘Absolutely.’ So I jumped right up, waited for a call from Mr. Ireland and he set everything in motion. I packed as much as I could in my two suitcases and got on a flight around 2 p.m. and got down here around 5, so it was a crazy day for sure. … I’m back to the same weight I was when I first got here and it’s a blessing because a lot of people don’t get these opportunities. I’m really looking forward to getting an opportunity to play and prove I can play and I’ve still got a lot to prove here and I’m ready to work.”

Kind of encouraging that he didn't scoff at the notion of playing for Jeff Ireland, Joe Philbin and the Miami Dolphins.

Think Francis has talent, just preferred Austin

I'm still really happy about this. He showed some serious potential. And with either Soliai or Starks likely gone next season it's always good to have nice potential there.

Because being a Dolphin isn't depressing like some fans want you to believe. Fans are very knee-jerk and emotional about things. We all take this game personally.

Players and coaches are smarter than that.

I wonder how long for the roster Francis actually is. Just looking at some of the moves Miami's made this year with respect to Isaako Aaitui, D.J. Campbell, Josh Kaddu, Jordan Kovacs, etc. it makes you wonder.

Do we now have the Patriots play book??

AJ was an All ACC academic award winner three years in a row. He is a young fellow who is probably capable of some serious retention abilities.

He looks like a big 5-technique to me. If he is still around next year and the defense is a base 3-4, I think he could compete for a rotational role or perhaps even significant snaps.

I don't think you're going to get much information from a defensive linemen who probably lined up in one position whenever he was on the field

Don't back down. We need immediate help on offense especially at rb & ol.

How about top of the roster moves? huh? Or even middle of the roster? We've witnessed this for almost six seasons. 'bottom of the roster churning' under the guise of efficient work. What is "amazing" is that ross & other fans fell for this.

Bottom of the roster moves for a mediocre squad? Who gives a _____? Other teams plug & start players but good ol jeffy is preoccupied with the bottom of a roster lacking necessary talent? We lost to buf starting a practice squad QB.

I'm not backing down. I was being mostly sarcastic. Of course I'd like to see some help at RB and OL, but any move made there at this point isn't going to save the season. Francis seems to be a very good prospect and with Solai and Starks coming up for contracts it's a good idea to hedge our bets.

On the "mostly" side you do see guys like Bobby Rainey doing some good things despite being picked up as a desperation roster move, so it's not completely unfounded.

The difference in money between being on a PS and an active roster is pretty substantial.

I just found out. Got back from a cruise with zero news contact, I watched the Panthers game last night after holding out and not knowing who had won!... mad at my wife for just not telling me that we lost a week ago... was excited all week about getting home to watch essentially a double header.. but alas! But yes, GREAT TO SEE AJ FRANCIS BACK!

to set the record strait, I didn't know they guy, never had seen him before, I just had a major problem with a guy who went undrafted trying to become a professional who had this outlook on life..

Hey @espn you need a fat guy in the body issue... Call my agent. #FatIsSexyToo

    — A.J. Francis (@AJFrancis410) July 10, 2013

    That message was followed by:

I'd be willing to bet I'm more famous than some of the athletes in the Body issue from obscure sports... @espn give the fat kids a sex idol.

    — A.J. Francis (@AJFrancis410) July 10, 2013

And when one of his followers told him to "find chill" A.J. replied:

@WRTreezy @espn nah b I'm serious. I'm fat and sexy and I'm not alone in that. The world needs to accept me and my people lol

My main point of why I went off on him was because maybe just maybe he would of been a better player than he is, maybe if his brain understood the importance of proper nutrition and training he would perform at a higher level than he is, maybe he would of been drafted, maybe he wouldn't of been cut..I can guarantee you that if an athlete takes his body and what goes in it very seriously it will perform at a higher level.

Also for the record, I did not want to get rid of him after watching him play , I can show you posts after watching him play where I was adamant as mr C on keeping him a dolphin..however that does not make me change my position on how stupid he sounds while he's struggling to be a pro football player.

If he had a different philosophy he would be a better football player than he is, that's my problem with him, lets hope he has come to his senses, but I don't trust out strength and conditioning coach so probably not..

Listen man, if you wanna keep jumping from team to teams practice squads then keep adhering to your own philosophies about your main tool to play the game..

If he has been enlightend and has changed great, if not, he's not very smart.
