I think there is a legit shot at us getting him in the offseason. He was drafted by Parcells and at 32 still has about 3-4 yrs left in the tank maybe more. He weights 340 lbs and Parcells loves the big offensive tackles not to mention Adams has already played under him. To me he seems like a safe bet to move Shelton or Carey inside to guard as guards are going to be hard to come by with the possible departures of Liwenski and Hadnot. There are a number of strong Cowboys leaving via free agency and Patrick Crayton could also become an option.
i wouldnt be upset....but id really prefer to get younger than older. how about max starks. sure hes a backup, but im sure he could start somewhere.
Don't count on it. Parcells and Adams have had issues at times. Believe Bill referred to him as a 'bum' after one game.
Well actually Dave Campo selected Flozell Adams.........hence his age. And, no thanks. he has knees left and can barley get half way down into pass pro stance. he is over the hill as far as a starter.......as a backup he would be ovequalified.
I think most of the guys Parcells calls bums, and whatever other names he comes up with, are all for motivation. He call Terry Glenn a 'she', and then went out and signed him at Dallas. That is, unless this ol mind has forgotten something about this story.
I found some information about him and YES , he is a 4x Pro Bowl selection (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007). Below is the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flozell_Adams
I'm not a huge fan of Flozell, he is playing on an extremely good team at the moment and Romo is very good at evading pressure, all of which helps his line look good. We are set with Vernon Carey at left tackle, let's just be content that we have a good one finally. Our O-line isn't really a problem at the moment.
Our o-line played real good early on but they haven't played very good for the last month or so.Is pretty safe to say that we'll have a new starter or 2 next year....keep on mind that Alibi, Mormino and Toledo are waiting in the wings, the last 2 were hurt this year but I think that Mormino specially has a good chance to start for us next season. Ozzy rules!!
Alabi sucks by the way, and Toledo might as well have played there seeing as he's never been healthy. Mormino, this guy may get lost in the shuffle if the coaching staff changes. 6th round draft picks of previous regimes are usually gonna get cut. IMO.
Bingo. I live in Dallas and i used to listen to Parcells press conferences on our local espn radio and he was always very critical of Adams. You definitely got the impression he was not a huge fan of him. Flozell is good for at least one false start a game and i wouldnt be suprised if he leads the league in that category. Even fans here in Dallas know the guy is overrated. Dont look too far into his pro-bowls, major market (especially "america's") teams always have those overrated big names such as Roy Williams and Flozell Adams who are perennial selections despite being mediocre at best.
I don't know what the coaches are grading Vernon Carey out as, but I think looking at LT is a real possibility. I think Vernon would best be utilized as a RG or RT. One guy that has all but disappeared from draft talk is Jake Long. I think he has a real chance to make about as big an impact in his first year as Joe Thomas. You know some LT is going to have a great Senior Bowl/Combine and jump up the draft boards.
o.O. Carey's been fine at LT. His natural position though is RT. They tried him at Guard briefly and immediately switched him back to RT. Jake Long is overrated, will not land in the Top 5 and maybe not in the Top 10. Expect Ryan Clady to leapfrog him as many are starting to peg Jake Long as a RT in the pros.
what about sam baker of USC? idk if hes a senior or what but I have heard a lot of good stuff on him.
he is a much stronger pass blocker then he is a run blocker, hes a senior and probably the 3rd or 4th senior in the class.
