I wish I could be as confident as you Aqua. I just don't see us steamrolling anyone, especially a team w a front 7 like NY has. I see a low scoring down to the wire type game, could go either way but I'll say Miami 16-13.
Even if we were up 20-3 at the half of a 27-6 game i wouldn't feel comfortable. I remember talking about this a while back in another thread, Miami just does not know how to step on the throat of an opponent.
If our defense plays with the fire they did against Carolina, jets have no shot..if Patterson can play, they might get a field goal.
Which defense? The one that stiffled the panthers or the one that gave up a 4-10 after having them in a 2-18 from the 12, then had a personal foul to extend drive , gave up two more 3rd downs on the way to the game winning TD?
Depends on whether or not our three'n'out attack on offense wears our defense out. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
Shows how ridiculous this argument is, our offense hadn't gone 3 n out all game as implied. And the 4th n 10 play was the first set of downs that drive so they hadn't been on the field that long. Excuses for the defense while RT is crucified, gotta love it
The Jets have given up 34 to the Bills 49 to Cincinnati 28 to Atlanta 38 to Tennessee It can definitely happen. Will it happen? Maybe not with our offensive line, but if Geno turns the ball over I expect a 20-13 game.
The Bills with a 4th string QB in the Dolphins house last month say hello. This Dolphins team isn't blowing anyone out.
Notice that I never once mentioned Tannehill in the post. Edit: Did you watch the second half? Moved the ball just enough for a botched field goal. That's it. (not gonna mention the missed opportunities in the first half when the defense locked it down)
was not saying you are crucifying RT , what I'm saying is the defense give up a 4th and 10 and get excused. everyone will look at individual plays on offense and say how that 1 play cost us the game yet it is a fact that the defense makes one play we win yet it seems pefectly logical to excuse that or scapegoat the offense. It is a hypocritical argument. Yes the offense is part of the blame but that 4th n 10 had **** to do with the offense it was bad execution, bad design, bad d call.
The personal foul was a BS call, next question?... When your offense leads the league in three and outs and scores 0 points in fourth quarters for that past two months your gonna give up a couple drives..I repeat I will take their same performance against the jets and the jets won't score 10 points, lets hope this below average offense can meet them half way.
No one crucified RT..if you think our offense held their own I digress....13 first downs at home, SHUTOUT, in the 2nd half, lost time of possession..not much else to say..
are you saying that we can't go thru that game and say if this one play happened here by the offense the game would be different?
The goal of a football team and coaching staff is to have your team playing their best football in December..this better be the case.
You do realize this offence led by tannehill has scored 3pts combined in the last 6 games in the 4th quarter right? The defence has its faults but the real problem is the offence.
That's what I was thinking. If we can get out to a quick first half lead again, hopefully we can force Geno into a plethora of mistakes like he did against the Jills where Buffalo went up 10-0 and then their defense got an INT to NY's 4, an INT to NY's 24, and a pair of pick-sixes.
When you're in the position where you have to make that stop you make that stop, what about the other 3rd downs? The personal foul wasn't what gave up the 4-10 it was just what helped progress the panthers down the field. The way the defense was playing on that drive with or with out it the PF the panthers were moving the ball on us, as we saw by the 3rd down conversions. I don't care if the defense only gives up 10 yard to the other team during the game, it means absolutely nothing when they give up 80 on a game winning drive. So yes if the Dolphins D plays like they did against the panthers and jets score 9 points it means nothing if the 9th point was a game winning drive. Should the offense score more? absolutely, but the fact that in this scenario they didn't means nothing at the point the jets have the ball, because the game situation is what it is and they have to do what they have to do, and that's stop the offense from scoring. It's situational football. It's a team failure plain and simple, the offense doesn't score enough points and the defense (no matter how well they played for 99.9% of the game) gave up the winning points on the last drive.
It's a team game, overall, it was a team failure, however the majority of the failure goes on the offensive unit for not controlling the tempo of the game, for not sustaining drives to give their defense pivitol rests, and for not scoring any points in the 2nd half of the football game..
Jets defensive weakness is the only thing we have going for on offense. Tannehill and wr group should tear the jets D apart of our oline can protect tannehill like they have they last few games.
Absolutely agree, in the over all picture of the game. but the coaches and players don't sit there at the time and think "well if we scored more points" or if they do it's a moot point, we need to stop their offense, wishing we scored more isn't going to do them any good. Lets hope for a win today, 17-13 phins.
The offense still has issues, but its definately getting better as the season goes on. Ryan hit on some pretty passes to Hartline, Wallace and Clay today, and all things considered, the running game did well too.
