So compromise and move to Western Europe... Portugal, Spain, France... or Wales if you're looking for something different but still English speaking... ;-)
So I am looking to market myself with personal instruction. New to the whole business aspect... Any advice? Ive opened up a facebook, youtube page, got business cards...
I'm moving to some where warm, like ny. I am looking at the 80 degrees in Boca Raton where I used to live and wonder why I left
Could you go a little bit more in detail as to what you're looking to do and possibly who you're marketing towards?
Basically looking to target kids and/or their parents for baseball instruction. Being that baseball season ended recently around here I don't have an outlet to get to people or get my name out really.
Well I think your best bet right now is to get that social media stuff up to at least make you accessible and then speak with local coaches, teachers, etc that have consistent contact with kids who play baseball. Try to get them to pass off your information to parents who may be interested... maybe offer a special rate for the first X amount of kids who purchase your services. Word of mouth will probably be your best bet to get business quickly. You'll need to really highlight your credentials too, IMO. The use of YouTube, Facebook, etc is a nice tool but I really don't believe it is that critical to a small business' overall success. In today's world, it's important to be accessible online but just keep in mind that the use of social media sites are just a tool, not a key to instant success.
Yea I understand that about the social network, that's why I am looking for other outlets. Word of mouth is going to be my main source most likely, but I need to somehow get my name out there to begin with. I am having a hard time currently. The problem I have is, talking to coaches and such, those guys believe that can do what I do, without having to have the kids or the their parents pay for it. So they likely wouldn't even be interested in passing my information along. Its unfortunate for the kids that's for sure.
Been on the phone for an hour and a ****ing half trying to change my flight that doesn't fly out till noon tomorrow thats been cancelled.... ****

Huge snow storm going on right now here in the Northeast. I already was told to stay home tomorrow (today) which is awesome. It will suck though since it's supposed to be single digits while I'm shoveling this crap in the AM. I also have no food or beer so I done goofed there.
Luckily, McLovin's mom is still here, and if she wants to eat, she's gonna have to get her *** outside and shovel. This ain't no charity.
I just set up my sound booth, my CEO has a very "important guest" and I have to control our banking robot to make it seem like I am naturally roaming the branch. iRobot in full swing. Hope the guest isnt Will Smith.
Your job sounds awesome. To contribute to the thread: I've just ran my 3rd day straight. Excited for a 4th. 3.84 miles.
