Don't expect either Dallas Thomas or Danny Watkins to play. I get the distinct feeling that the coaching staff doesn't think they can play, but they are on the team because of the GM. Sam Brenner is a guy the coaches wanted on the team from the beginning, and the GM didnt' keep him over his 3rd round pick that was the worst lineman in camp.

Either way, Garner for JJ and Brenner for Garner makes the offensive line better overall

Of all of the things I hold against this staff, the unwillingness to replace poorly performing players is at the top of the list

I don't think they have an issue with replacing poorly performing players. With Jonathan Martin, they didn't have a choice. They were stuck with him by an inept GM. With John Jerry, I think the staff feels that something is there, but it is probably never going to actually come out. I think Dallas Thomas goes into the Jonathan Martin category. He can't play, and the staff knows it, so they don't waste any time with him. I put a link to a quote from Mike McCarthy on here not too long ago where he said something to the nature that they focus on the guys who are going to be there.

haha me too. Bunch a bums have no faith in the dolphins. We win this one and maybe the consensus changes a bit. With the weather and all, and just old memories, i'm losing confidence. We shall see...

Oh I do, how many sacks did Clabo give up before being benched for a game..what 9? 10?

How long did the guy have to play poorly to be replaced.

How is the jonathan Martin category one in which the coaches don't think he can play so they don't waste any time with him? Martin started every game he was here for.

Le'Veon Bell says he has passed all of his concussion tests and is fun. He was a full participant in practice today.

Like I said, they had no choice. Jeff Ireland made sure of that.

Had he not gotten injured, Lydon Murtha would have started during Martin's rookie year. This past year, Jeff made it a point to not bring in another left tackle to allow Martin to play that position.

Speaking of which, how many people would have thought before the season started that the vast majority of "experts" would have been picking Jacksonville to beat Houston in week 14?

I haven't seen the numbers, but hasn't John Jerry actually graded out pretty well this year?

Edit: Never Mind. He's still pretty mediocre.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Meaningful December game on the road, on a grass field against one of the NFL's iconic franchises, with weather a possible factor. Only thing better is a meaningful prime time game at home in December. At least in the regular season.

In 2011 we were out of he hunt by mid October, last year we were playing out the string by this point. This year we are in prime position to grab a playoff berth and will be probably be in the hunt down to the last week, at least. It's not over night success but it's steady improvement.

john jerry was not cleared to practice today.brenner took his place..

looks like lamar Woodley will play after missing three games..

decaestro and beachum, two starting olineman did not practice on a pivitol day of gameplanning.

jamar taylor hurt his hamstring two weeks ago and has been shelved since.

Patterson practiced on a limited basis for the 2nd consecutive day..looks like he will be active.

    here's a random thought.

    pete carroll and personnel staff...

signed matt Flynn to a multimillion dollar contract

traded for Charlie Whitehurst and gave him a multiyear deal.

waited til the third round to draft Wilson when they had Flynn and tavaris Jackson on the team

    lol.

    As per PFF:

Last year, Jerry was ranked as the #20 RG, and #40 of all guards. He graded out at +3.8 on the pass but -8.8 against the run. He gave up 2 sack, 3 QB hits, and 15 hurries.

This year, Jerry is ranked as the #10 RG, and #21 of all guards. He grades out at +6.0 on the pass and -4.0 on the run. He has given up 4 sacks, 3 hits, and 8 hurries, and ranks #3 at RG, #7 of all guards in protecting the QB.

Brenner has been a nice surprise.

The Steelers are going all in for this game. Going to be tough. They put up 132 rushing yards on the Bills, who are right above us, but we have given up more rushing TDs. They are #24 against the run and we're #25. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing/sort/rushingYards/position/defense

Pittsburgh is 3-2 at home and 4-5 in conference play. They have scored 263 pts, but given up 278. A -15 pt differential. Lost their last to Baltimore.

Miami is 3-3 home or road and 5-3 in conference play. They have scored 252 pts, and given up 248. A +4 pt differential. Won our last against the stej.

I'm not confident. Even with limited viewing time of The Dolphins, let alone the Steelers, I think we are not really up to the job. Watching the highlighs of the win v The Jets I don't think we looked great, certainly not up to beating the Steelers in their own backyard. We won't enjoy the weather either. Wallace TD was a fluke, the pick by some dumpy guy was laughable. He seemed stunned by the fact he'd actually caught the thing and therefore was so slow in starting to run that the incompetent Jets were all over him. Hartlines TD was good though. He's our best option IMO, although not going deep. We've no one good enough to throw to on long throws.
Of course......I maybe completely wrong. I'll be sat over here in all the Dolphins gear with everything crossed.
Can anyone suggest a decent site to get the game?

Investing in NFL Gamepass is highly recommended. Full year round coverage for a shade under £100, so you can't really go wrong, especially since you also get Red Zone for before/after the Miami game.

Or, they're currently running a free 7 day trial, so you could sign up and cancel if after the game before you get charged.

Patterson could practice fully all week and I wouldn't be confidant that he'd make it out of the first quarter healthy.

That's pretty surprising. Fortunately he kinda sucks.

Woodley coming back is a bigger deal. It'd be a serious advantage for us, imo, if they were limited at OLB to Worilds and Jarvis Jones.

What's interesting though is that Woodley plays the left side pretty exclusively, and that's where Worilds has been very good since replacing him. Not sure if they'll move Worilds to the right full-time in place of Jarvis Jones who is not very effective as a pass rusher, rotate Worilds on both sides, or keep both their best OLBs (Woodley and Worilds) on the left side where they excel and rotate them.

If the dolphins could win this game it shouldn't be underestimated because of the steeler record, Ben is playing at a high level, their defense is still very talented and experienced, and they know how to raise their level of play..It's the biggest game of Ryan's career thus far and I hope they figure out how to raise their level of play.

It does feel that way right now. This is as excited for a Phins game as i can remember being in a long time. If we win, all the things we were hoping for back in september are still on the table, even likely. If we lose, it will be "same old Dolphins, fire this and that person, etc...".

I think the Tannehill and offense will show up Sunday. They are due.

    GO PHINS!!!!!

i freakin love American soccer...last World Cup I was in Seattle, woke up at 6 am to go to sports bar, me and boy meeting up in my hotel room at like 5 in the morning, two grown men jumping up and down in our underwear when we won that one game..

Live the World Cup..your from Germany though, that's another level..

I can honestly say that, the American soccer team is the only other sport I get excited about when it comes to a rooting interest, I have no favorite team in any of the major sports..I'm in a monogamous relationship with a swimming mammal.

Seems like snow in Pittsburgh, which isn't really a big deal for me.

Things that are preventing me from going:

-Freezing rain in DC on Sunday (which means I'll be driving back in ****ty weather)
-Can't find anyone to go with me (which means I'll be driving there and back solo)
