The amount of work and excuses he had to come up with to make Henne look like a good quarterback was outstanding.
Henne is what he is. That is an okay backup caliber QB who is only starting for the Jags because the rest of the QB's on the Jags roster probably shouldn't even be on an NFL roster. I am sure the Jags front office plan to draft a QB in the first round in the 2014 draft and Henne will end up being a backup for the Jags again next year or for another team in the NFL. The only thing I blame the former coaches, Ireland, and Parcells for in regards to Henne, is that they drafted him in the first place. Unlike you. I don't think they gave up on him soon enough.
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hope that was sarcasm.
If they are not giving up yards, but giving up points, that indicates they are being put into a lot of bad situations by the offense turning over the ball in their own end of the field.
Throwing in a gimmick so called QB and running a gimmick scheme is supposed to help a young QB develop. Pat White has helped so many young QB's in this league develop. Dan Henning and David Lee were clueless with the handling of Henne. You don't know much about football do ya?
I have never had doubts about Chad Henne in the right offense with the right cast around him. The guy is a good QB in this league and he'll always have a job somewhere in the NFL. He just isn't a franchise QB and that is what we tried to make him. I also don't think he's as talented as Tannehill is but Henne is still capable of being a good solid starter in this league. If Matt Shaub can have a ten year career in Houston so can Henne in Jacksonville. Get him a good running game, Justin Blackman, a solid offensive line and a very good defense to help him out and Henne will be a good QB for the Jaguars if that is what they want to do.
Throwing in a gimmick that allowed the quarterback to talk to the coaches, while a play was actually going on does help. It is a free time out for the young quarterback. The fact that you couldn't figure that simple thing out, shows how you shouldn't be asking people about their football knowledge.
Sorry, Aqua... I was a Henne supporter, but he was the same old Henne last night....yeah, they won, but he left points on the field. He overthrew his recievers when they were wide open. He missed some passes, etc... Again, he's not a complete waste, but he is what he is...a backup QB...
Anybody thinking Henne was the answer needs to up their ambition and talent levels regarding expectations. Henne? Give me a break.
You said Henne didn't develop Henne now you are babbling about him going to the sideline for a play to talk to his coaches. Your original logic is he didn't need a coach because he should have been developing himself. Which is it man? You're making no sense. Everyone knows a player needs help developing or their wouldn't be coaching. Having Henning and Lee was the equivalent to that.
Wow, talk about not being able to understand English. Henne didn't develop because of himself. Not because of coaching. Who said he didn't need coaches? How did you read that? What were you reading? Can you read?
So a young QB's responsibility is to develop himself. That makes no sense There are coaches who specialize in QB development. Henning and Lee aren't those guys. Henne got the short end of the deal on that one.
I didn't say that a young QB's reasonability is to develop himself. Walsh, Holmgren and all the kings men, couldn't make Henne a good quarterback.
This dude throws up one post about Henne and never returned, and it's been rocking ever since. Either his Henne erection lasted longer than 4 hours and he needed medical help... or troll.
Fair enough. You had me worried. For a minute there I thought you might be undermining the value of coaching.
After everything we went thru with Henne, I'm surprised to see so much love (football love) for him still. He was a waste of a pick, and I was one of his bigger supporters, but after several seasons of mediocrity, him making the same mistakes as he did in his first game as a pro, it was obvious that he wasn't going to develope into anything more than a backup QB. Did Lee and Fist Pump screw him up ??? Perhaps they contributed, but really he is what he appears to be, a backup QB. Even for us he had some good games, managing the offense well, throwing nice passes, doing things a good QB does, but he had even more of the opposite variety of game with us as well... Aqua, White, et al....geez, I'm sorry for you guys that you really think he's more than he really was for us...
well, we should all be giving him a hi 5 at the moment. He helped get Gary Kubiak fired from Houston. Their owner thought losing to Jacksonville was the final straw. The Texans have one bad year and have fired a pretty good head coach (IMO). They've been our nemesis for years, it's well written. This will set them back for a long time IMO.
Dost that count his start against the jets where he got hurt? If so that game really doesn't count so it's 34.6% of his starts
ok I may be wrong and watching that game and posting was a mistake on my part I can't believe I did that but I think Henne was handicapped by the coaches and my argument for Henne was based on Dan Henning jerking him around none of us could succeed with a offensive coordinator like that.
I don't know if I can say that Josh McCown is really better then Tannehill but I am thinking that Miami may have given up on him a little too soon.
