I've given the Martin value question a lot of thought . I don't think he ever plays another down in the NFL. I would rather eat the million dollars than take on a bad contract for a player that is a long shot to ever contribute.

People have mentioned Vick as an example of a player that rehabilitated his role as a player in the league . I think that is an apples to oranges comparison. Vick made a terrible mistake, but was a tremendously talented and beloved teammate. Martin possesses neither of these attributes.

Finish the season, let things cool down, and when it does the least damage to the cap, release him.

A bigger question is will Incognito ever wear the uniform again? I doubt he will play for the Phin's, but I would guess he makes a roster in 2014. How much will that count against the cap? Doe's he have any trade value?

 

My prediction is jim harbaugh gets him for peanuts.
