Great news for us. Their receivers were already suspect. Now I know if we get ANY sort of pressure, their receivers aren't hurting us.
This certainly changes our coverages IMO, no real vertical threat on the field. We can blitz a tad more freely or emphasize some sort of blanket coverage on Vareen.
This Pats team is so injured it's ridiculous. I don't even think Brady practiced every day this week. Losing this game would be a pretty big failure, imo. Wilfork, Mayo, Kelly, Vollmer, Gronkowski, Thompkins, Dobson. If we can't this time around, geeze...
If we somehow find a way to lose this game there truly is no hope for this franchise. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
There's really no absolute reason why we lose tomorrow. No excuses, not even referees is an excuse. There's just no way we can lose tomorrow.
Last I checked Amendola and Edleman <sp> are going to play… I believe they are the Pats top two receivers..
All they have left are two slot WRs, a perimeter WR who has 5 catches all year (Boyce), no legit TE, and a scatback in Vereen. We should smoke them tomorrow.
THey still have Edelman, Amendola and Vereen. That's good enough to keep them competing in this game. I guarantee this will be a close game. I think we win, but in a close game.
Don't fool yourself those zebras can change anything needed. Hope they call a fair game then we should stand good,
Yeah, if Dolphins lose people will say "but its the Patriots, a 10-3 team" and that they didn't expect a win. Yes, but they are a banged up division rival we're playing at home, coming off two near losses to a 2 win and 4 win team. They've lost to both the Jets and Bills since we last beat then in 2009. If the Dolphins want to be seen as a threat, they should beat the top dog in the division (who is hurting) at home. Plus, this is going to be a tough game and the Pats will go into Baltimore hurting. If we lose to the Patriots and then they lose to the Ravens, our playoff hopes may rest on the Bengals in week 17 (assuming Miami wins the last 2)...They might have the 2 seed to play for if they win tomorrow, but come on, its the Bungles.
I would have considered last week's "Lateral Lullaby" an unlikely threat, and by all measures it should have been, yet this team had little problem finding a way to prove otherwise, an inclination it has demonstrated time and again all season. By reason of officiating or its own, this team has shown itself not only innovative, but artful in its manner of demise, and propensity to thwart any of its own windfall opportunities for uncontested success. Aside from the disfunctional Jets, the singlemost common tendancy of this team, has been its proneness to trip over any opponent deemed inferior, beatable, or heaven forbid any matchup "unlosable".
Well if they lose to Baltimore they will need to beat Buffalo to win the divio sion. We would have that hope too.
That's the way I see it. This is a game we should win. Reputation is the main reason anybody would pick NE here (both ours and theirs). If we win then, "we should have", if we lose then it's, "the same ol' thing". Breaking that reputation is key. That's why a team gets more than it's share of favorable calls. Miami did during the 70s and Pitt always has and now NE has been getting them for a decade.
Exactly. We are still playing football (chess) against bill belichic (Bobby Fischer) and he still has Brady (his queen)
Exactly, we're not statistically eliminated from winning the division just yet. If we win out and the Pats drop the last 3, then we'd take the division with a better overall division record (4-2 vs their 3-3). I'm certainly not counting on it by any means, but it certainly makes this game a whole lot bigger on paper. It still kills me that the refs gave NE that win last week though. If it wasn't for that, the division would still be very up for grabs!
I'm normally 100% in agreement with you on the ref thing...but that first game at New England could NOT have been an accident...there's just no way IMO. Few weeks later the Patsies have a call go against them, they got slightly hosed, and it's national press...we get a s***load of ridiculous calls against us and it's another New England quality comeback! That said, we need to play near perfect football to beat the Patriots/Zebras team today.
My ultimate scenario: Bengals lose this week. Ravens lose this week. We win. Bengals lose next week. Ravens win next week. We win. That sets up a scenario where we make the playoffs no matter what and have a shot a t the division
Everything is falling in place for us to get a victory...but that makes me more nervous with Brady...especially with 1 seed in sight
Just win, no excuses. The pats are primed to lose....they needed a huge comeback to beat the Broncos at home....they squeak by the Texans on the road.....they needed an on-side kick and a hand-job from the refs to barely beat the browns at home. We win today, period.
