The Steelers can set Cincinnatti on a course that they fall out of the division lead (with the Ravens taking the division winner spot), and sink to a point where they are sitting at the same record with us on the final week. We win the tiebreaker if that's the case.

Only if we and the Steelers are the only 9-7 teams. If its 3 or more at 9-7 and nobody is 10-6, then the head to head tie breaker wouldn't matter, it would come down to afc conference records. I don't even no why I explained that because it's not happening. Lol.

The Patriots have nothing but a decent run game, Tom Brady and decent coaching. They're hobbling big time with no viable receivers and a poor secondary. Any balanced team can blow them away. No they don't make mistakes, but they also can't force any mistakes.

Those nonviable receivers certainly torched us today. Granted it was an injury depleted secondary, but it still happened.

Either way, Patriots don't lose 2 in a row under Brady and Belicheck, so it's almost a lock for a Baltimore loss next week.

Do they know how the playoff schedules work or do they decide that later? Like if (dont want to jinx it) we finish the 6th seed are we guaranteed to play on Sunday or is it Saturday and which time? I'm supposed to work Saturday January 4th, but f--k if I'm going to miss a rare playoff game. Hope its Sunday to make it easy for me!

It'll be one NFC wildcard game and one AFC wildcard game on Saturday, then the same for Sunday.

    You have a 50% chance.

The thought of the unlikely scenerio where we win the #2 seed is fun and all, but Im rooting hard against Baltimore tomorow and next week. Then a win next week locks up the #6 seed and the Jets game doesn't mean anything, and in a good way.

I'm starting to favor the Bengals losing out scenario. Vikings are playing decent now. AP's health is a concern obviously, but he didn't play today and they beat the Eagles comfortably. Then the Ravens can beat them in the final game, which I think is pretty likely if both teams need the win. If the Bengals lose out, the Ravens can win all their games and we still get in (if we finish 9-7 or 10-6).

In the scenario of the Ravens winning out and the Bengals losing out (and with us finishing 9-7) the Ravens get the #2 spot. I wouldn't overlook this scenario

I'd prefer Miami just getting in. If they can play at Indy in the 3 vs 6 matchup that'd be a blessing and give usa chance.

For those asking about playoff scheduling, it works like this . . .

NBC gets first choice to fill the primetime slot.
Then, by default, the other game in the conference the primetime game goes to corresponding network for Sunday.
Other network gets to choose from the two possible conference games.
NBC gets the other remaining game for the early Saturday slot.

Confused? Let's role play based on current seedings . . .

    NBC takes SF/PHI for prime.
Therefore, FOX is forced to take CAR/CHI for Sunday afternoon.
CBS gets choice of AFC, likely take KC/IND
NBC gets for MIA/CIN for afternoon Saturday.

The only caveat to this would be if Dallas wins the NFCE. Due to the Cotton Bowl the night before the first Saturday of the playoffs, that game could only be played on a Sunday.

Yeah, it is a little bit crazy, but fun to think about!

If the Lions win tomorrow, should the Dolphins beat the Bills, a win by the Patriots would send the Dolphins to the playoffs before week 17... but I'm not sure I'd root for them to win.

If the Ravens were to win, Miami would need to beat the Jets in week 17 (it IS a division game, no gimme just like the tough Buffalo game), unless the Bungles actually lose to the Vikings next week. The division would still be in play too, but does anyone really think the Bills would go out to New England and win a meaningless game when its meaningful for the Pats? Slim to no chance.

Wait, if NBC picked a Sunday Night NFC game, doesnt that mean CBS gets Sunday afternoon AFC game, and FOX would have their NFC game on Saturday? It's one AFC game, one NFC game each day I thought? That's how it was last season. CIN/HOU Saturday, Green Bay Sat Night. I remember.

    No.

But we could go 1-1 and they would have to go 2-0, even then If the Bengals lose to the Vikings next week?? We are locked up with a win vs NYJ.

Also IF the Ravens beat NE next week, we go 2-0.. Then a Buffalo win at NE means the division and possibly a 2 seed.

Technically we don't now, we definitely don't if we lose a game. If Baltimore loses tonight then we'll control our own destiny.

    Yes we do now.

Considering we win out and finish 10-6:

    1) If Ravens win all three of their upcoming games, it would automatically mean Bengals lose their last one, finish 10-6 and lose the division to Baltimore but also lose tiebreaker to us because of head to head.

    2) If Bengals win their last 2 games, it automatically means Ravens lose their last game and finish 9-7 with worse record than us.

Just win out and we are in.

We got a **** ton of help yesterday, now we need the Ravens to lose tonight to make it that much sweeter.

I believe in this team, we are going places this year!

So if the Bengals lose next week and we win, then we've clinched a spot?

If so that makes the Patriots - Ravens easier to watch. Both us and the Bengals play in the early slot. If we've wrapped up a playoff spot after that then I can root for a Ravens win over the Patriots in the later game, without worrying about a Ravens win damaging our chances.

Edit: otherwise it's a tough call, since a Ravens win would hurt our wild card chances, but keep the door to the division open

Not exactly, if ravens lose tonight then beat the pats and Cincy loses next week to the Vikings with a Miami win then Miami still clinches with a win next week. That allows us to not worry about the Cincy vs ravens game as a win for the ravens mean they get the division and we win the tie breaker over Cincy or ravens lose 2 of last 3 and we finish a game ahead of them for the WC. This would be dream scenario as we could still hope to beat the jets and a pats loss at the bills for us to win the division.

Not necessarily because if we lost to the Jets we'd still need the Bengals to lose to the Ravens in the finale, thereby finishing 9-7 and losing the division, or the Ravens to lose at least 2 of their last 3 games and finish at least 8-8. If we lose one more, we don't control our own fate anymore...

If the Ravens lose this week we clinch with a win and Raven loss vs Patriots.

If the Ravens win tonight, its better to hope then also beat NE and we just win out, because if we win out it doesn't matter what the Bengals or Ravens do, we are in.

The game tonight will decide who we pull for against NE.

I have a feeling that the Bengals are going to go on a downward spiral and lose out, but still win the division at 9-7 because the Ravens will lose to Detroit and NE. In that scenario we'll likely face the 3rd seeded Colts, which is a favorable match-up for us IMO.
