Thanks for updating it. If this doesn't silence the Tannehill haters, nothing will. It makes me sick to my stomach to read posts and hear fans call into radio shows hating on Tannehill and saying he isn't our franchise qb and we need to find a replacement ect. Blah blah blah and so on.

His bad play deserves criticism and being called out for. Even his good games has looked semi average in my opinion because he has left so much on the field with plenty of missed opportunities, but the last two games he has played like a man and that's why he isn't being criticized anymore. He finally looks like he's taking command and playing tough, letting the ball rip when the opportunities are there.

I'm sorry. Stats don't always tell the story. Jay Cutler and Tony Romo have phenomenal stats, but both franchises have issues. Even worse but may be forced to have them undre outrageous contracts (Dallas does).

I see good. I see bad. I see really, really good. I see really, really bad. Personally, I'm more pessimistic because of late, what else should I believe? Every time this team has gotten you to believe in a guy or rally behind him, he fails.

However, games like these last two can pull anyone back. I've started to soften.

My stance with Tannehill has too. But I want to see more. Is it wrong to ask for consistency? Isn't that what a franchise QB brings?

People can say that he needs to improve certain aspects of his game because he most certainly does. However straight up hate and saying he sucks is going a bit over board when he is a second year growing playing. Growing pains are apart of the process to grooming a franchise quarterback. Too much of this fan base wants a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning to instantly emerge from day 1 as if a Phoenix from the ashes. Frankly that's spoiled and delusional thinking.

This is what I call the microwave generation. People want instant results. Nobody wants to wait. People have lost patients. These same people would have given up on a lot of great NFL qbs that far worse 2 first seasons but ended up being elite franchise qbs. Some teams have done that to watch the qb they use to have become an elite qb for another team.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out when a player needs room for improvement
    Who doesn't?

Agree. Why are you unable to wait before labeling him our franchise QB? Or very good? Your post above insinuates you think that. If I'm wrong, my bad.

Ryan has definately achieved what I expected him to this season, and is moving on to the next step. I'm really pleased. We haven't had a good quarterback in a Hell of a long time, and now we do. Plain and simple. Now the question is ceiling, and I like what I see. Both objective (stats, W/L) and subjective (the eyeball test & making plays when it counts) are there. Yes, he and the offense have left a lot on the field this season, but they've done enough more often than not. He and they are undoubtedly getting better all the time. Complaining that he and they aren't great yet is short sighted. I'm a cynical guy, but with the Fins I'm cautiously optomistic that we something really good cooking.

Absolutely not, and I think you'll see that soon.

The thing w/ Ryan is - yes, he does leave some plays on the field, even in good games. But what gets me going is, the guy has, at least, consistently gotten better throughout his career so far, and when he does start to NOT leave those plays on the field, look out!!

Tannehill surging: Miami second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill showed moxie with a game-winning drive over the Patriots. He was 6-of-8 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown on the Dolphins’ clutch drive that won the game late in the fourth quarter. Tannehill threw for 312 yards with three touchdowns and is starting to look like the long-term solution. Sunday marked Tannehill’s first win over Tom Brady in four attempts. Tannehill now has wins this year over Brady, Philip Rivers, Andrew Luck, Matt Ryan and Ben Roethlisberger.

He may or may not be the next great Miami QB, but it's fun to watch him develop. We could see the potential (at least most of us could), but it looks like the proverbial light bulb has been lit. I like the way he's managing the game.

Well I personally said i'd like to see 4,000 yards, 25-28 TD's for him this year when the season began. I got flamed and burned to ash because of such high expectations by a lot of you. I can't remember what topic/thread it was in and I don't care to look it up at this point. I'm not boasting about my bold expectations and prediction earlier this year, lets get that cleared up. I am basically saying that according to those type of numbers/wins/etc he has exceeded the expectations most of us had for a guy only in his second year. There was a stretch where it really wasn't looking good for the kid midway through this season but he has come on really strong and swayed any doubt that I had about him. The more I watch him the better he looks. The guy has made a major major improvement from last season and if people can't see that at this point then they have no business sharing opinions on him.

He's already the best Quarterback to play on that field since Dan Marino. I'd say the odds are easily in his favor that he's going to be a top flight Quarterback in a few years. Guy gets better every week.

Ryan Tannehill as of now is top 10 in TD's and passing yards out of all QB's in the NFL. He is leading all second year QB's in passing yards, is 2nd in TD's (tied with Foles) behind Russel Wilson and 3rd in QBR behind Foles and Wilson. Don't look now but Ryan Tannehill is having a better year stats-wise than Andrew Luck, and in the playoffs hopefully he'll show the whole nation that can play with the big boys.

I cannot understand anyone who is still unwilling to call Tannehill the franchise QB we've been waiting for, at this point. I suspect it has more to do with disappointment in QB's from our past and little to do with what Tannehill is actually doing on the field. Which is shame for those people.

Ryan Tannehill is also the most sacked QB in the entire NFL, and by a wide margin, so he is having a very successful season even despite very subpar protection. Makes all the more impressive.

I think a lot of it is because franchise quarterback is a term that gets thrown around a lot and attached to quarterbacks who shouldn't have that label.

As an aside, I was listening to Greg Cossell on the radio yesterday, and he was talking about Philly and Nick Foles. He stated that Foles is in a very controlled passing attack where he has a lot of predetermined reads and decisions. He really credited Philly's coaching and play calling for Nick's success. That brings up the question. Is it better to spoon feed your quarterbacks at a young age and advance as they progress, or is it better to baptize them by fire, so to speak, and have them making full field reads and decisions from the pocket?

The result is that Foles has better overall volume numbers than Tannehill right now, but Tannehill is doing a lot more on the field with regard to calling his protections, making reads....etc.

    I agree with this 100%

I think Wilson is much better than Foles, but I'd also like to see what he does when asked to put the game on his shoulders against a good team and win without the help he gets from the play action and his line.

Foles is having a superb season, but I think he's going to come back down to Earth next season, much like RGIII did this season, but probably won't come crashing down as hard. He'll still have respectable numbers, but not out of this world numbers as he is having this season.

I think there's a 50-50 on that. You should definitely start by easing in your young QB into a simple game plan so that he can maximize his attributes and minimize his mistakes. If you can make it simple enough so that he is successful while gaining experience, I think that is the best approach at first.
However, there comes a point where for him to move forward, you've got to start taking off the training wheels to allow him to mature. QB cannot move forward and reach his potential if your cuddling him and holding his hand.

Tannehill easement plan went as far as "he had the same offense and offensive coordinator as he had in college", after that, he was thrown right in the deep end.

If I wouldve told you at the outset of the year, 4100 yards and over 25 TDs you would've said:

    "He arrived."

Now that he did it, people are gun shy to anoint him because of the failures of his predecessors. Well, never let fear decide your fate kids. Fiedler or Henne were NEVER close to this good.

Here's the reality: The last two drafts before the most recent one yielded a ton of very good quarterbacks. The Miami Dolphins may have selected the best of the bunch.

He now has 3,709 yards, needs 291 yards next week against the gets to get 4000
23 TDs, Needs two next week for 25

He has a decent shot at it, only if they are not eliminated. If we are out, no use putting him in risking injury when our online can protect anyone
