I don't know if anyone saw this but after the Dolphins won CBS went to the final moments of the Bills v Jags game and they show Chad Henne having a talk to Dan Carpenter after the Bills won the game. Who's the more hated former Dolphin? I feel for Chad Henne even though he sucks but Dan Carpenter is infuriating. I booed him while he was warming in October at the stadium before the game. If he could make two reasonable kicks last season (against the Jets and Cards) the Dolphins would have been 9-7.
Kicker shouldn't even be part of the game, they are a step above the waterboy. When we grew up a kickoff was done by the guy who could throw the ball the fartherest. This is how the NFL should be and you replace the kicker with a 3rd QB. Consider it a developmental move.
I don't hate either of them, though I do resent the fact that Carpenter sucked for us and then beat us, but there's a long line of players who can claim that distinction.
Hating players who make good faith efforts to play the game as best as possible and fail is really ridiculous.
Don't hate any of them, Henne was never a franchise quarterback, we were fooled by that Monday Night explosion against the Jets.. It was our fault for using a second round pick on him, just like it was our fault for wasting a draft pick on Pat White. Henne will always have a job as a backup quarterback and he's gotten better each week with the Jaguars, has kept them competitive. Luke McCown career for him.
I wish them well..except when they play the Dolphins...I don't hate Ginn either...I do however dislike Welker .
I'm the same way, the only player that comes close to hatred is Wes Welker. I was so glad to see him leave the Pat's but still dislike him nevertheless.
Neither is hate able in my opinion. Carpenter did some good things here and some bad things. Henne just wasn't good enough, but he's a very capable backup.
I think this is what the OP is referring too. Carpenter was probably more hated of the two (not by me, if I had my way. He would still be here), but Sturgis's struggles have since softened most posters vitriol that they had towards him. Henne tried hard. He is a guy that I think people respect. Probably a career backup/spot starter. Solid hand, but nothing spectacular. He was caught in a toxic environment here, in my opinion.
Glad they have jobs, and the families will have nice presents from Daddy this Christmas. Beyond that, I don't give them any thought.
I lost believe in Henne and believed he will never be a good starting quarterback in the NFL, however I never hated him.
