On a more serious note, when do we extend the kid? This offseason? Or do we wait til we have to pay a baseball type salary.
I was actually just thinking the same thing B. I'd say do it whenever it benefits both parties the most. My guess is Ryan would rather have a team around him....I don't see him as the kind of guy like Flacco..holding team out for top bucks. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Does anyone know why Tannehill is listed on the NFL website with 259 YPG and the Dolphins only average 234 YPG passing? Does it have anything to do with sack yards?
That was great obviously, but I wasn't talking about a one game rating. He accomplished a few high ratings last year.
He's a "franchise Qb" in the sense that I think he's shown enough progress to warrant further investment. We certainly don't need to worry about drafting another Qb with a high pick unless some incredible prospect falls, like a Russell Wilson. I still don't know if he's going to be an Aaron Rodgers or a Joe Flacco. But I don't think it'd be very surprising or disappointing for Tanny to be a Flacco type who, while flawed, is worth a lot of money and can help you win quite a bit.
He is only 2 spots behind Brady http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating
At this point Tannehill is the unquestioned starter and there is no need to draft a QB in the higher rounds or to pick up a veteran free agent to challenge him. He's at a point where if he finishes these last two games strong and at least plays well in a playoff game (whether or not we win) that he will be seen as a top tier QB.
Sorta off subject but I am in Frankfurt quite a bit and usually stay out near Mainz you wouldnt happen to know a place to watch the fins do you? =)
so you would not upgrade a player if you could? You really didn't just put Ryan Tannehill in the same caliber as Tom Brady did you? Ryan Tannehill is a decent learning QB......Tom Brady he is not Glad your not our HC, because with that closed mind we would suck....wait be mediocre Great coaches and GM's always look to upgrade. It is why they are always good. If you can't upgrade you build depth. Now if we had a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or Danny that's different but come on man you can't be serious comparing or putting Tannehill in the same sentence. I love the enthusiasm, but just trying to keep it real
The only QBs that are clear and obvious upgrades are Manning, Brady, Rodgers & Brees. That's it. None of them are going anywhere or are too damn old to interfere with Tannehill's development over at this point. There is no one on the college level that appears good enough to interfere with Tannehill's development. And for the record, I firmly believe Tannehill will be similar to Rodgers when its all said and done.
of course we will upgrade, but QB is a position we don´t need any moves, maybe backup QB, but our starter is here and he won´t leave anytime soon
First you come off as pompous Second who in this draft is definitively db upgrade to Ryan? Bridgewater? Perhaps, but you selling your soul to get up there? What has RT done that screams replace him? Sure you want better connection deep w Wallace and he needs to improve there but it in part Wallace not soley on RT no matter how much you haters cry. But fact is we have no offense w/o RT. He is second yr qb being asked to do more than most 2nd yr qbs and has us as a no worse than 500 team w all the distractions Thank god you are not coach/GM, truly thank god. Same for me, but i am not under the delusion that I could do better.
Are you seriously suggesting any sane GM would consider replacing Tannehill at this point? If you want to say Miami should draft a QB in the late rounds to cultivate as a backup, I could see that. Especially if Moore is gone. But to replace Tannehill? With the way he's playing? With the improvement from last season to this season? Crazy talk. As others have said, any improvement over Tannehill with the way he is playing will not be available.
Tannehill is as good in his 2nd season as Brady was in his 2nd season. Guess the Pats should have tried replacing him too, lest they wind up sucking or being mediocre. Oh wait, they didn't try and replace Brady, so that Belichick must be a closed minded coach.
Anyone outside of the top 5 would be basically a "side grade" so you spend basically Zero recourses on looking to replace him...it's fine to keep putting time and effort into the position but the Dolphins are no longer in the "searching for a starter" class..imo.
Why would the Dolphins draft a QB? Even if a Teddy Bridgewater or a Johnny Manziel dropped to them it would be idiotic to draft one of those guys. Draft a guy that can help Tannehill not get sacked 50-60 times a year. What's amazing about RT is he's putting up Top 10 numbers while running for his life more thank half a dozen times a game.
I should have said perennial pro bowler. I personally don't consider anyone a "Pro Bowler" unless they make multiple pro bowls. Especially in an era where so many players opt out and the 15th best player gets in by default.
I truthfully just scrolled thru this thread looking for ToogoodforDez's post because I knew it was coming and would be comical. You didn't disappoint. Totally outdone yourself
Anybody you pick up can be the next Tom Brady or the next Brady Quinn. We don't need to take that risk anymore. Tannehill is someone you can build around and hopes he gets even better. Since the Cincy game where he was 0-0, he's gone 12-5 INT/TD ratio. That is pretty damn good. It ain't Tom brady/Aaron Rodgers good, but pretty damn good. If you were to ask me, Tannehill now or Philip Rivers in his prime it'd be tough, real though. Can you imagine it's already been 10 seasons since Rivers was drafted? That was the first draft when I joined Finheaven and started following this stuff. Wow. Getting old.
Other than Manning, brady, Brees, Rodgers, who would you take in front of RT? Any other name you throw out there is at the very least debatable. RT is a guy that has not topped out and its silly to consider giving up on him this soon. Let me say it this way: He has lived up to where he was taken in the draft..... so far
Tannehill is what I would consider a blue chip prospect in every sense (and maybe more) that Andrew Luck is. Luck does not possess the natural passing skills that Tannehill possesses. With a slew of 1st round OTs, I just don't see how we don't come away with one.
Hey, ****heads. There are two or three all time great quarterbacks in a generation. Hence, generational. Marino, Elway. Manning, Brady. Brees, Rodgers. Stop asking him to be that. It's not fair. Nobody gets those without INSANE luck. Ask yourself this: Flacco. Roethlisberger. Eli Manning. BRAD JOHNSON. Trent Dilfer. All those dudes Got rings. Can Tannehill do that? Yes. Next question.
Replace or attempt to upgrade Tannehill at this stage? Tannehill is just starting to come into his own and starting to elevate his level of play. If he'd been QB'ing the Lions, they'd have beaten the Ravens handily on MNF... Some Tanne-Love from NFLN... Tannehill will be featured on NFLN Wed night at 8pm EST.
Im from Wuppertal,im watching games when teir on pay tv or on stream...im 2and a half hour from Frankfurt
Are u German Citizen alex?? Where i can see the game with game passes bro..would love to see the game in my appartment with fellow dolfan ...
Reading thru this thread, I think almost everyone -- even the people who are having a little confusion with elite v. franchise -- is saying the same thing. Tannehill is the quarterback we're going to build our franchise around. He's a franchise quarterback.
Just heard a stat on the radio, RT leads the league in scoring drives with 5 minutes or less left in the half or game.
I know how to make a mean baked ziti from scratch. Just because I don't make it every time I cook doesn't mean I don't make a mean baked ziti. And, more importantly, you've got to work on your phrasing....
