This news isn't good. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...vers-cut-dj-campbell-20131216,0,5713529.story Anybody know anything about Jalil Brown?
Meh... any non-rostered player you pick up around this time of year isn't going to be able to make an impact anyway...
The question is: Can the Dolphins continue to win with their top three CB's watching from the sidelines??
Miko Grimes @iHeartMiko Please stop asking me this question. RT @SBW82: @iHeartMiko Yo, you are laying off Bae's groin so it can heal right??
Yeah..he's the guy that is gonna pick off EJ Manuel twice and take one of them back 88 yards for a Touchdown.
Final Word: Brown has good size, playing strength, and toughness. When he stays low in backpedal he can turn and run without losing a step. However, when he gets high in pedal he does not flip hips as well and often loses a step and lacks the explosive catch up burst to get back into good coverage position. He has the ability to be a very good pro in the NFL. He is a mid 2nd-3rd round prospect. He would be ideal in a man-to-man scheme. He also by what I have seen with his playing strength to jam receivers, short area quickness and burst, toughness, and willingness to come up in run support and make tackles makes me believe he would also make a pretty good Cover 2 corner as well. Teams like the Colts, Buccaneers, Bears, and Titans would be an ideal fit for his skill set. http://www.sbnation.com/2011/2/17/1998479/jalil-brown-nfl-draft-scouting-report
Omar in his typical knee jerk fashion, makes it sound worse than it is with this comment: The only pure safeties on the roster, after this move, are Clemons, Jones and Kovacs. Wilson is listed as a backup safety but he came into the league as a corner, played mostly corner at Montana, and should be fine on the boundary. He reminded me of Ike Taylor when he was a corner. Thomas proved he can handle the nickel IMO. The key is whether or not Grimes can play.
Fortunately, the types of teams we are playing are weak passing, strong running teams. And also inferior teams that our defense can handle. If we were playing the Broncos, I'd be very worried. What this could spell though, if the division rivalries produce that old fake parity, is another stressful 3 hours.
I don't think they can, in all good conscience, start another late season pickup over Jamar Taylor. Will Davis doesn't appear ready and they can't say Taylor doesn't have the system yet considering Thomas didn't even know how to get to the stadium, let alone the coverages. Unless Taylor practices like absolute dog****, if one or two of those guys can't go, I think he has to be activated this week. If its an health issue, he should have been shut down a long time ago.
He keeps having lingering hamstring issues. The team, I guess, keeps hoping he heals up to the point he can play. How he practices does not sound like an issue. The question is being healthy enough to practice at all.
I'll tell ya what, if Ireland's two scrap heap corner additions, Justin Rogers and Jalil Brown, don't cost us either of the next two games, I'll give him my approval to remain as the GM. Unless Taylor or Davis does. Because we could have drafted Dwayne Gratz and Logan Ryan instead.
At this point in the season the only things that matter are how bad the guys want it and how plug and play the system is. It's looking pretty good on both counts so far.
The KC stuff back when they cut Brown called him "another one of Scott Pioli's busts". Not a ringing endorsement. He has good creds as a special teamer. I would expect Rogers to play before Brown at a CB spot if needed.
pretty troublesome about Grimes. He is a major player for us. If we can get past Buffalo and rest Grimes and he can recover - that would be great. But, the way Baltimore is lucking out game after game, we can't afford to lose a single game.
Nope. After last night's Raven's win, every game is a playoff game for us. Fortunately, the Bills and the Jets don't belong in the playoffs. We have to prove we do.
lol..right, he has pretty good combine numbers, 4th round in 2011 by the chiefs, was the 15th rated CB out of 182
I think you've got to give the defense credit for being pretty good against the run vs. the Patriots without Soliai. They've gotten rolled over badly the last couple of times even with Soliai, and once he went down they only had two active defensive tackles. Jared Odrick barely got off the field, and Starks got rotated with Vernon/Shelby as reduced ends.
apparently Grimes, Carroll and Soliai all practiced in a limited capacity today. Good news I guess...
