Any first timer could have picked off a future HOF QB to win a division game in December with playoff aspirations on the line. Irelands just lucky. Now if the kid blew it instead... then Ireland gets credit For him.

This kid played less than 5 minutes of football and made enough plays to win AFC defensive player of the week. Nice. Hopefully he's a long term keeper.

This kid is on cloud 9! What a week! I wonder if anyone is approaching him for movie rights at this point. In fact, if it was a movie, no one would believe it was a true story.

Congrats to him! May it be only the first week of a long, successful career!

Extrapolated out to 60 minutes, that means he would have 36 tackles, 24 passes defensed, and 12 interceptions.

    Not bad!

C'mon Samphin! Don't rain on his parade! Let him enjoy his 15 minutes of fame! No one expects that he is going to be some kind of hero every week. Just this week! And it's one of the best stories I've heard in years!

Its not just like he swatted a pass away. That was a veteran move that most veterans don't pull off. Trailing and playing a pass between the receivers hands is extraordinarily difficult. Not only did he pull it off, he did it in his first game with the game on the line.

Kudos Thomas. Hope you can keep it up.

Thomas seemed to have some natural instincts. I don't know how he fares in the measurables department. Probably not anything spectacular which probably led to him going undrafted, but he seemed to turn and find the ball naturally. Those ball skills in our DBs was one of the stated priorities for Philbin prior to this season. Good job by our FO of finding a player that fits our scheme. There may be some weaknesses in his game that may be exploited down the line, but at a minimum he seems to have a strength that matches what we're looking for.

The pass defense was far more important and impressive than the pick. On the pick I liked he had the awareness to fall off the guy he was covering then settled in the throwing lane when he realized his guy was just crossing over the middle. He put himself in a spot Brady did not expect him to be. That was nice work, but him getting his hand in on the ball and knocking loose a sure TD catch while not drawing a flag, that was outstanding!

Lol he most likely wont see the field with carrol and grimes back. Hoping we get the win and ravens and bengals lose so we
Clinch and can play Davis, Taylor and Thomas vs the jets to see what we have. Interested if they'll keep Thomas as corner or safety. Idk if he'll ever do anything else but if we turn this season into something he'll always be remembered in Dolphins history. He's smart and has heart something that earns him a roster spot even if its just special teams but here's to hoping for more and a bright future for him as a Miami dolphin!!

He's 5'11, 182 pounds and runs a 4.5. Started safety in a Stanford secondary with Richard Sherman where he had 66 tackles and 3 ints his senior year. Guessing he doesn't have good hip rotation which is usually the cause of most corners switching to safety. He looked pretty good at corner though. The play people seem to
Miss is he had 3 great plays, the int the knockdown and it was him that tackled vereen for a 2 yard gain and keeps him in bounds causing NE to use their first timeout. Could of been a game killer had he got out of bounds or had it been a bigger gain. Went back and watch that d stand for the 5th time
Since the game ended ( it's like a grown mans bed time story, I suggest all phins fans watch it before bed up until buffalo) and here's my breakdown of his game after that stop on Vereen.

*He is the one that gives up the 4th and 8 vs amendola but it looks like he has outside containment and reshad has inside but reshad comes up a fraction of a second too late and delivers a punishing hit but he holds onto the ball.

*Gets targeted again on what looks like same assignment with him on outside containment and Clemons comes with inside and pats wr drops it.

    * Next time he is targeted is the 1st down pass to amendola.Thomas is in bump and run man to
Man coverage. Great play by Thomas, tight coverage only improvement you can ask is a look back for the ball to avoid pass inference but it was well timed by Thomas to not touch him until he amendola makes contact.

*Next play is the famous interception, again Thomas in the slot with the same coverage as Thomas had run before with outside containment and Clemons coming up with inside coverage.

If anyone wants to look at his performance his first play is with 5:33 remaining. He comes in on a cornerback blitz from the nickel. Brady recognizes it and throws a screen and Thomas isn't able to adjust. Looks alittle scared and trust his teammates to make the tackle and begins to cut up field in case of missed tackles.

With all that said Will Davis makes me want to tear out my eyeballs out wearing #29. Growing up watching Taylor,Thomas, Surtain,Buckley, Bowens and all the great Dolphins defenders over the last 15 years, Sam Madison was my all time favorite player. Watching his jersey number get toasted over and over hurt. He's just a rookie but I pray he gets better because that was awful to watch. Telling bad stat of the day... Guess who lead the dolphins in tackles Sunday? Despite only playing the 4th qt it was will Davis and I believe all but 1 were one completions he gave up. I guess he tackles well unlike Madison at least that's a plus I suppose.

4.51 isnt fast for a CB but isnt terrible for a safety.
