Here is a video of Anthony Collins playing Right Tackle for the Bengals that I cited way back in the 2012 off season when I proposed that Miami sign him as a free agent that year. He ended up signing a 2 year, $2.8 million deal.

Isn't Michael Thomas a Stanford grad? They took a chance on him and look what a great story he turned out.

I'm not sure, I mean the line has been crap that is a fact. But how much is that due to them "plow(ing) forward regardless if they've got the players to do those things or not" that Disqustipate brought up. If they got the right personnel would he be the right coach? I guess only Philbin can answer that.

    This plan.

But with one difference. The biggest difference.

A new OLine coach. Suddenly you'll see better development and play from this area of our team, imo.

I have to correct myself here...because I didn't realize this. The Bengals have moved Andrew Whitworth inside to left guard while Anthony Collins plays left tackle.

That could seriously hurt our chances of getting him out of Cincinnati if they also think he's the LT of the future there. But they have to be high on Clint Boling at left guard. He's a really good left guard. And Kevin Zeitler is definitely the future at right guard. He's a 1st round pick.

Hmph. Wish Miami just would have signed him in 2012 when he was cheap.

You mean like they should've signed Wheeler a year earlier for cheaper, smh.

Another guy that I keep going on about (for good reason) is Matt Tobin in Philadelphia.

If they were willing to listen to trade offers that weren't absurdly priced then I would trade for this guy just for the right to see for myself what he could be if given a legitimate chance to compete at the left tackle position.

You don't hand him anything based on one preseason of excellent tape. But at the same time, this is a guy I feel pretty strongly about.

If Collins is off the board, definitely should be looked into. Was there a Philbin connection with him with the Iowa thing?

Even if you do pull in Collins and Saffold.

This is one thing I appreciate about what I've kind of in my mind started to dub the Seattle approach to personnel. There's nothing wrong with acquiring more and more talent prospects, as long as you're not using all of your resources. Bring in a bunch of guys you feel pretty strong about that happen not to be all that expensive.

IMO Miami has to come out with 2 tackles and 1 guard from FA/Draft in any combination.

I understand McKinine has given the team an overall considerable improvement over Martin, but he is 34 years old, how much longer is he going to give you acceptable production. Even the Ravens thought it prudent to replace him before things got critical with him. I don't think the Dolphins should be the ones gambling on when McKinnie goes from passable to problem.

They have a good opportunity this year in both FA, with plenty of talent coming off contract, and in the draft, with a very deep tackle class, to shore up both positions. A combination of a veteran but still young tackle in FA, with a young talented tackle in the draft can be the exact medicine this team needs.

Then you invest a middle pick in a guard, and see if you can also find a cheaper guard through FA to create a nice depth/competition.

Tobin, Collins, and Saffold would be perfect going into the draft. Gives them plenty of options.

Geoff Schwartz is another guy...would be nice to bring him in but like a year later than when we should have brought him in. I guess you'd just have to see what the market is on him but if he continues to be cheap for whatever reason you'd still have to consider it.

Shelley Smith another guy worth checking out on tape, along the interior. I liked him coming out of the draft.

Thoughts on Matt Patchan, was screwed with at Florida with numerous position switches. Transferred to Boston College and has started all 12 games at LT and paved the way for Andre Williams. Could be a good project.

if we could bring back Incognito, obtain Maurkice Pouncey from Pittsburgh & resign McKinney & Clabo to reasonable contracts:
    LT-Mckinney
    LG-MikePouncey
    C-MaurkicePouncey
    RG-Incognito
    RT-Clabo

It's bad enough we have one bone head Pouncey, two and Incognito back? And Seth McKinney out of retirement.

Their rookies weren't bookends, i.e. LT and RT. They were at RG and RT.

    LT - Bryant McKinnie
    LG - Matt Slauson
    C - Mike Pouncey
    RG - Paul McQuistan
    RT - Will Yeatman

    Backups,
    Nate Garner
    Sam Brenner
    Dallas Thomas
Draft a LT and a RT/G prospect in the first of rounds. Not sure whom yet.

first, get rid of our clueless o-line coach and hire someone proven. re-sign mckinnie and clabo for depth. pouncey, brenner, thomas, and garner come back. via the draft, round 2 goes to jack newhort (6'6, 308, lt, osu). round 4 goes to chris watt (6'3, 321, rg, notre dame). round 5 goes to michael schoefield (6'6, 304, rt, mich).

He'll be ideal if the team finds themselves locked in prison framed for a crime they didn't commit.

Is there anything more terrifying than the thought of entrusting Ireland to revamp the entire offensive line?

Entrusting him to find a franchise QB? Find elite pass rushers? Find an elite CB?

The packers won a super bowl with a horrible offensive line one year after giving up 50 sacks. It taught Rodgers to get the ball out quicker. The QBs that are impossible to beat are the ones who don't hold onto the ball long enough to allow a bad play.

LT: I'd resign McKinnie. Sure, it's a stop gap. Unless a starting quality LT falls into our laps at the draft.
LG: Move Mike Pouncey here, he'd be the best guard in the league.
C: Sign Alex Mack from Cleveland. He's pretty good and a veteran.
RG: Draft the best guard available, even if it's in the first round. Find a guy, plug him ion next to the veteran Mack.
RT: I'd keep Tyson Clabo, who has played pretty good since his resurrection. That said, I'd use a draft pick on someone to develop, in case he tanks again.

I'd hang on to Brenner, he's cheap and young. Dallas Thomas will be around because of where he was drafted, I think he has no hope. Sign a veteran multi-positional lineman for depth. Draft at least one late round guard to push Thomas.
