Should this one include a Baltimore loss?

I don't think it needs to include a New England loss or a Baltimore loss. If we win the next two games, we'll win the 6th seed regardless of how other teams do.

EDIT: I see what GISH is saying now, if New England doesn't win one game then we'd win the East.

No, no loss needed with our 2 wins....2 wins and we are in with no help needed for #6 seed.

If we win the EAST we wont be #6 seed - so still not correct.

also think if we win next 2 two we end up with only 3 AFC losses with locks in no lower than #3 seed. I dont think #4 is possible outcome. I think we are either #6, #3, or #2 only scenarios as all others would have at least 4 AFC loses or we win H2H over IND if they are only 3 loses.

Denver, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati can all still have 11 wins. Miami can have at most 10. We can be the 4 seed.

Ok, I am thinking about 10 win ties, so I got ya if 11. Ok. But again, from 6th seed, we just win two and we dont need any help for 6th seed (agreed if NE wins either at BAL or vs BUF, we can at best finish with 6th seed with our two wins)

There is very little chance of being anything other than the #6 seed simply because it requires Buffalo to win at New England when the Patriots are playing for either the division title, or a first round bye. Unlikely.

they have stumbled enough at home, although i don't think they will blow that game at home if they have to win with their playoffs on the line, they still have the refs too

Yeah, but the mere fact its week 17, and say, coming off back-to-back loses vs MIA and BAL, they would have to play hard vs BUF to get in.....thats nice too.

Heck at home they have been lucky vs MIA, NO, and DEN too (all 2nd half comebacks)....they have barely, protected their house...barely. Anything is possible as pressure mounts. Would be fun to watch them have to bear down vs BUF too.

actually i'm not sure how is new england and miami's record in common games ? that would have been the 3rd tiebreaker, if NE would have lost to cleveland and would lose to baltimore and would beat buffalo, we would be 10-6 and tied with the same head to head and same division record, common games would have been the next tiebreaker in that scenario

Aside from DIV, common opponents are: TB, ATL, CIN, NO, PIT, CAR, CLE, and BAL I think. NE would have won that tie breaker based on them beating NO and us losing. They beat TB, but we beat CIN. all others are same.

Crazy our loses to BAL, NE, and BUF were all so close for our 3 AFC Conf loses.

conference tiebreaker would be the 4th tiebreaker though, not all AFC Games would count for example we didn't play houston this year.
i didn't check yet which games would count for the common games records, since its a moot point anyways, because the freakin pats beat cleveland, but still it would be interesting to find out, if this game really could have won us the Division Title....still assuming we win our last 2 games of course...lol

Agreed, even our lose to NO didnt get away from us as badly as final score indicated. And us facing NO in the dome, vs NE catching them in Foxboro is key difference.

    But none of this matters....

Yeah, changed my post once I looked at tie-breaker rules. NE would have had the common opponents tie-breaker cause of the NO wins...

Now, yes, if not for the CLE PI call, it could have made this week vs BAL the deciding factor - and a loss to BAL would have forced it to fall to 4th tie-breaker = Conf record.

    But again, moot.

    Hmmm

In that NE vs Cleveland Giff....

You can actually see the Cleveland DB reach up and it does look like he holds on to the front collar of the receiver. If this slowed Boyce down at all....it was the correct PI call. He pulled his hand away...but...it doesnt mean he wasnt slowing him up before hand...

Then why wait to throw the flag until after the play is over with?

Because if the receiver catches the ball there is no need to.

    What did I win?

The issue is it didn't occur in the end zone, yet that was where the flag was thrown. The ball shouldn't have been spotted at the 1.

Nothing because if the call is made, and it still would have been highly questionable, the ball is on the 13 yard or so line not the 1 yard line.

I'd say the receiver never broke stride and it was outside his reach, thus uncatchable.

So if he catches it there wasn't a penalty?

The ref said he called it because the DB knocked the receivers hand away preventing the receiver from catching the ball. I watched this GIF countless times and I do see some hand to arm contact right before the ball gets there. Its a call that's not usually made but these are the Prima donnas were talking about. The contact out side the endzone on about the 8 yard line could have been called on the offense since he pushed off but theres no way the Browns get that call against the Patriots especially in N.E. Still, a BS call.

Exactly. Because there wasn't a penalty to begin with. It should of been a "no-call". Both players hand checking each other(no-homo)

There have been a lot of really big plays that have shaped the entire season for the Dolphins this year. Our record could vary from 2-12 to 12-2 based on the games that were decided by the final drive of the game.

    Some 'what if's:

    • If Tannehill doesn't fumble the ball away at the end of the Buffalo game, we're in with a win this week.
    • If the refs called the penalty on the final kick in the Baltimore game, we're in with a win or a Baltimore loss this week.
    • If Antonio Brown doesn't step out of bounds, we're forced to win out and hope baltimore loses twice and Pittsburgh loses a game.
    • If we fail on 4th down against the Pats in week 15, the division is lost and we are forced to win out for a chance at the last seed

  39. IMO the best thing that could happen this week is Balt barely beating the Pats and Buf experiencing an embarrassing loss. Buffalo might just play to save face after a humiliating loss and the Pats might play just soft enough for the upset to happen.
