Great post guys.. Can't really make a rock solid case either way tho.. I've said all along I like joe but we have looked bad in our L's and tann carried us in our W's.. Wonder if joe is in tann's ear? Not sure what should happen, can't argue either point...

  2. Philbin did not have a great day but I would not lay all the blame at his feet either. Most of the blame goes between the OLine and BLine

I still wanted Ireland gone, even with a playoff season, but now I'm okay with Philbin getting fired if he is loyal to Sherman. The offense MUST get more creative than what Sherman is showing us. That means Philbin has to see and understand where Sherman is failing to adjust/gameplan.

To be fair, the OL Ireland put together is a HUGE part of the problem this season, but a lackluster effort today makes it easy to say "buh-bye" to Philbin and his staff.

Totally agree with this. Hartline killed a few drives today all by himself. Certainly not a great job by Philbin today, but he's usually got us in games. Bring him back for another year.

Every win we get seems to come down to one last play no matter who our opponent is. We never dominate anyone, ever. We never impose our will. We always play close, one - score games, including playing down to our opponent consistently.

I agree the Dolphins need more creativity. Unfortunately with how bad the OL is, it is difficult to be creative when your QB is running for his life almost every time he drops back to pass. It also prevents any creativity in the running game when the defensive unit of the opposing team hits the runner before he even gets out of the backfield.

A very good offensive line would do wonders for the creativity of this offense. They just don't have that right now. They have one of the worst offensive lines in the history of the NFL instead. That is the problem with this offense, it isn't Sherman, IMO.

I would argue that the instability on the offensive line means we have to be more creative as opposed to being limited by them. Sherman and Philbin just don't fit that bill.

There's no reason you can't run screens, pitches, roll outs, dump offs, etc. There's no reason you can't try trick plays in a game your season is on the line.

You know the Bills strength coming into the game and you know our weakness, make it work. There is no talent difference in the Nfl that excuses being so thoroughly dominated.

You don't think the coaching staff has any responsibility to meaningfully mitigate talent problems then?

They seem totally disinterested in any of the myriad of fashions that a coaching staff may choose to help work these kind of issues out.

I have never been a fan of this coaching staff. If they are all fired after this season is over, I'm fine with that. I just think that the major issue with this team is a severe lack of highly talented players on this roster. Who are the impact players on offense and defense?

I want Ross to hire a "President of football operations" and let this individual run the football side of the business. This individual should be given the authority to hire and fire the GM and the head coach. Ross obviously can't see that Ireland isn't the right man for the GM position. So hopefully an individual with power over the entire football operations would hire the right personnel to get this team into the upper echelon of NFL teams again.

Im not exactly excited about Joe Philbin at times....Im beginning to really not like his coaching personality, as I personally enjoy a more fiery coach. I dont see him as a coach that wants to go for the jugular...and go for the kill. But...at two seasons...I think people are delusional if they think he is going anywhere, especially now. He's 500 with a rookie QB, who could potentially have his team winning 4 out of their last 5 games and into the playoffs.

If they did fire him, who would they replace him with? If its someone who hasnt coached in the NFL before, how do you know they will be any better? And if they arent, are you gonna fire them after two years? What coach in their right mind, would come to a franchise like that?

We are one of the youngest teams in the NFL with a very young, inexperienced 2nd year QB, 50% of our starters are starting in our lineup for the first time together and we have one of the worst OL's in the NFL. Which basically means this team is not only learning how to win but also how to play together in this scheme.
