For the second scenario I don't think it matters whom Baltimore loses to. They just have to lose at least 1 of the two.

    Not in Clearwater!
All things considered our entire season hinges upon Cinci beating Baltimore, correct?

Yup, need to beat NYJ, then hope CIN beats BAL and we are in with no other help needed. however, if BAL wins, then we need SD to win to all end 9-7 and MIA gets 6th seed.

dont use the epsn playoff generator. Use yahoo. The espn playoff generator is not accurate. It doesn't put Pittsburgh in with a win and losses by MIA, SD, and BAL.

So Cinci is still vying for a higher seed with possibly the Patriots and the Colts so they will play to win I think?

But what does KC have to play for? The Broncos won the West today with a win correct? SO we MAY see KC play backups at some point against SD?

How does a three way tie put us in the playoffs? Wouldnt Baltimore own the tie breaker because they beat us?

If the Dolphins lose, they cannot make the playoffs. If there’s a four-way tie at 8-8 between Miami, San Diego, Baltimore and the Jets (who, by beating the Dolphins, would be 8-8), Baltimore wins the Wild Card. If there’s a five-way tie between those teams and the Steelers, Pittsburgh would win the final spot in the playoffs.

As crazy as it sounds, our chances of making the playoffs are still pretty good, as long as we beat the Jets of course. I don't think Baltimore beats Cincinnati, and even if they do, the Chargers have a good chance at beating the Chiefs.. the Chiefs may rest their starters since they have nothing to play for.
We're in a good position despite our loss.

Am I the only one who's scared of making the playoffs? I want the guillotine to drop. Besides, we'll just be embarrassed anyway.

We beat San Diego to kill the head to head tiebreaker... so it goes to Conference Record.

so one game makes you think we're getting embarrassed in the playoffs should we make it, how did you feel after the Pats victory last week? The weather is fair if your fan is plugged in :shifty:

Oh god because with 3 way tie head to head is not the breaker, it's conferance record.

Today they were immeasurably better. I get the point , we match up better perhaps but if we remotely come close to the preparedness and effort we had today we will be embarrassed again.

I think other than 2-3 elite teams in the league right now (Denver, New England, Seattle) it's just a case of which team shows up on the day. Indi, Cinci and Baltimore are as wildly inconsistent as Miami. Miami's "A" game is probably good enough against most of these teams "B" game's but I think it will be just a crap shoot if they play their "A" games. I bit of luck for or against will be the key to getting to the playoff's and possibly progressing any further. You hate to see the type of game they had yesterday, but sometimes sh*t happens. What it does show is how far this team has to go, but it also shows that there has been some improvement from previous years.

I don't think I'd even put New England in that elite category this year. I agree with the general point though. The AFC in particular looks pretty mediocre.

We **** the bed but I can't say we choked if we win next week to finish the season 4-1. If we win and miss out, ill chalk it up to a push that fell short.

The Chiefs (No. 5 seed) are the only team in either conference locked into playoff place. The other 11 spots are all fluid and need week 17 to sort out.

That's awesome. Much better than a week 17 where half the games are meaningless.

Joined this forum just to ask this.... Why would the Ravens get the spot if there is a three team tiebreaker at 8-8 as opposed to the Dolphins getting the spot if there is a there team tiebreaker at 9-7? All three are playing conference games so it wouldn't be a tiebreaker based on conference since if all three lose then the Dolphins would still hold the edge in a 3 team tiebreaker.. This question has kept me up at night lol

Because if we lose, we will be tied with the Jets at 8-8. In a multi way tiebreaker, the divisional ties are resolved first. The Jets will knock us out on divisional record. Baltimore won't factor in for us in that scenario.

AHHHHHH Gotcha.. .I did not take into account that if all three team were to lose then the Jets would be in 8-8 also. Sucks that KC and SD might both be playing for nothing in the afternoon. It will probably look like a preseason game. But it will be a game with huge implications for the Dolphins and Ravens if they both win early games.
