    the poor house
being a owner ? I mean how much money did we spend on the offense ? we let Reggie Bush go and we replaced him with guys that couldn't block a wet paper sack .

as a owner how does MR. Ross not lose his cool especially if the stadium is empty ? shouldn't Mr Ross be pissed off ?

if Were owner I would clean house and go pay Jon Gruden whatever he wants. if the Jets hire another coach and he is a great hire then our days in the basement of the afc east is assured.

does anyone have a short list of offensive and defensive coordinators ? what about position coaches the oline coach needs to be fired but what about the position coaches ?

you guys know Mike Shula is doing great and he could darn well help Tannehill a lot.

I would do what it takes to fill the stadium but am I on the wrong path here ?

fyi Ryan Tannehill broke the nfl record today and not in a good way . he is headed for the David Carr path unless we get some help.

Im not agreeing with anything you said, but if Gruden were an option I'd dump Philbin immediately and pursue Rex Ryan to run the defense.

No excuse for this defense to be as bad as its been. The talent is there...To me the blame falls on Coyle. I'd love to see what Rex Ryan could do with this bunch.
Offensively the blame goes to the O line and the shiddty playcalling. We aren't out of this yet so I'll wait until we are before I start dishing out the blame.

If I'm owner, I make some serious calls to Auburn and Stanford. I already have a QB that can play for either Shaw or Gus. I'm looking toward Seattle for a personnel executive. Gaine is gone, Ireland is gone, Aponte is gone. Philbin is gone if I can hit one of those two coaches although I'm leaning more to favoring David Shaw. I'm not very up on their organization, but I'd also sniff around Chicago for a personnel man. They can effectively deal with turnover and have already shown rebuilding an entire unit in one season is doable.

On second thought, I don't have a favorite of the two.

Not down with Gruden? I think he'd be a real possibility. He always has great things to say about Tannehill. I'd imagine he would be happy to work with him.

Also he strikes me as the kind of guy who still sits up at night scheming offensive plays and strategies. He genuinly loves the game and in his time off I know he's done a lot of studying new offensive concepts in the college and NFL game.

I think I'd be okay with the coach from Auburn, impressed with what he has done. If he passed interview stages I think I'd feel comfortable.

Again I'm not saying lets fire Philbin.

If I were owner I'd fire Ireland within 10 minutes of buying the team, as fast as I could do it face to face. Then I find a quality GM and get out of his way and let him do his job. If he likes Philbin no argument from me, if he doesn't then I thank Philbin for his work and move on.

I disagree with this. There are a lot of things that happened, anf his coaching wasn't the main issue. You can also debate Tony D. isn't a great coach.

If we hire a new GM and coach and win the superbowl will you say the new guys took the team Ireland created?

Um how about the Raiders team he coached? He was the worst call in the history of the NFL away from a Superbowl with that team.....I mean he almost made the Superbowl with the Raiders....the ****ing Raiders. He should be in the HOF for that alone. And his team that he helped build was taken to the Superbowl by another coach so his track record is pretty damn good.

In 7 years with Tampa he went 57-55 only time he got past the first round of the playoff is the year he took over for dungy because everybody knows dungy was not an offensive genius but make no mistake dungys defense won that sb... After that gruden couldn't win consistently and was basically ran out of Tampa!!! A sb winning coach ran out of Tampa.... That's a major red flag...

To be fair, Gruden has good things to say about Tom Brady's one legged cousin called "Lazy Eye" Eddie who always misses his receiver slightly to the left.

Gruden apparently only has interest in a few teams, notably the Raiders. I'm not sure if the game simply hasn't just passed him by fundamentally at this point.

Dick Vermeil comes to mind but at the same time, five hall of fame offensive players don't just end up on every team. Warner, Holt, Bruce, Faulk, and Pace would make up for a 15 year absence.

We have a developing QB. A guy who can run really fast, a white guy, and Mike Pouncey. I'm not saying these guys are bad, it's just that Pouncey is the only one I consider near that level.

Typical forum posts tho I'm not shocked.. If y'all were the owner we would have changed coaches 7 times this year... Qb would have been a revolving door and you would have traded a high draft pick for jones drew...

Right, which is why I've bookmarked every post in here with "I'm not saying lets fire Philbin"

And mostly everyone else has as well.

It's a familiar refrain here in Tampa, but I have never bought it. Gruden did with Dungy's players what Dungy didn't do with Dungy's players. In addtion, the team that Gruden built (Raiders) was good enough to make the Super Bowl without him.

With all of that said, I still have no interest in Gruden.

This is a fair enough post.

My interest mainly comes from the way I've seen him speak of the game in his time away. I think when he comes back, he is going to do so with a very fresh innovative method of coaching. Hes obviously intelligent and it seems like he has used his time away to learn. Not fall behind the game.

Yeah I can see that, but remember that he left the Bucs in worse shape than he found them (obviously the SB win was huge) and was hated by his players at the end. The one good thing is that if he came here he would have a QB. That's what killed him mostly in TB is that he never had a QB that he liked and shuffled them like crazy

Hope no one thinks I'm calling anyone an idiot, jes not big on gruden.. I like joe but if he is fired he won't be missed.. My thing is this... Dion Jordan has showed flashes of being really good but some games he hasn't, most of the time he's on the field he isn't even near the play, weather blocked or play is on opposite side of field...so he hasn't be a great player every game right? So do we cut him or see if he develops into a great player? Same thing goes with joe, who clearly has progressed as a head coach but still some flaws he needs to clean up... He has one year left so why not let him try to develop into a good coach instead of condemning him to a lifetime of assistant jobs? Next season if we still can't win the close games then by all means let him walk, he's a bust...

Yeah I dont think getting rid of Joe is a good idea either. He has done some really good things and some questionable things. Sometimes people need time and I think one more year should be given.
