Miller and Thomas are done for the season. They're hobbled. So is Nolan Carroll, he's hurt too after that Sack. We are a mash unit that needs to heal up and come up with a clever way to win without Miller and Thomas. Try Thigpen and Gillelslee.

I believe Miller was rated high for RB blocking.

I think they've done reasonably well, all things considered. The coaching staff puts them in a position to get hammered week in and week out. Teams know they're going to be handling blitz pick-up, and they know they're going to get put on an island. The Bills pretty clearly knew how to get the backs isolated on the defenders they desired via stunt.

True Miller is not on it, but Solia and Starks sure didn't seem like themselves. Clay and Hartline were lathargic as well. The biggest problem was John Jerry, Daniel Thomas and Hartline. They should have all been benched.

I meant we need fresh legs. Thomas will be a liability against the Jets. I hope the coaches make the right decisions next week for once.

Ireland should be tarred and feathered for thinking this OL and the combo of Miller/Thomas would suffice this season. Epic fails on all levels.

Do you honestly think they will after all that you've seen so far? I don't.

After all i've seen so far? Hmmm let's see, no screen passes, no roll outs, same snap count, hobbled RB. They'll just do the easiest thing, which is the same thing they've been doing. I'll go with that.

This. The lack of moves or just the idiotic notion that we were OK at Oline and Rb is enough to fire Ireland. I remember all the debating in the offseason, I thought it was insane to think our Oline was going to be good or that Miller/Thomas were actually going to be a good combo (I like Miller a bit but he's not an every down goto back), if a fan can see how stupid this is a good GM should be able to see it. Ireland has to be fired.

he didn't get tarred and feathered for thinking NaNae can replace marshall and went into the season with Bess as his #2 WR.

If we had a good Oline, then the RB combo would have looked a lot better

Granted oline is first priority but I'd love an Eddie lacy back. Just power, I'm so tired of seeing Fred Jackson and Blount get hit in the backfield against us and still drive forward for 3. That's what we need.

    This.

Jackson was creating yards himself not cruising thru wide open holes.

He still is because the guy is very strong, just not much of anything else these days but when they need to protect Rivers, he's there and never misses assignment.

I missed the game due to vacation but caught the end of it and I guess that's a good thing, we really sucked. 0-2 against Thad Lewis... that's typical Dolphins luck. Beat Brady, but lose to that scrub.

Ronnie's on my short list of favorite Dolphins. Shame he's gone.

I don't know if it's typical Dolphins luck, or typical parity in the NFL these days. Pats beat the Saints, Saints blew us out, we beat the Pats. Make any sense? We simply match up with the Bills worse than any other team we play this year, except maybe the Saints. Seattle just lost at home, for the first time in two years...to the Cardinals. There's countless "so and so beat so and so, who beat so and so that beat us" scenarios in the league EVERY week. Hell, the Colts beat Denver, and we beat the Colts...it doesn't make sense...it's modern day NFL.

Because the strength of their team is their DL and our weakness is OL.

We have no one up front that can block them 1-1. Kyle Williams destroyed our whole game plan because we had no one in the interior who could block him.

By PFF. Among backs with an appreciable number of pass blocking opportunities, Miller is in the Top 10 in pass blocking efficiency. In 116 pass blocking snaps he has given up 6 total pressures, which is pretty good, especially considering how many times pass rushers have broken through the first line of "defense." I remember a few yesterday that were Thomas' fault, but don't remember any for Miller, although PFF did "credit" him with one sack allowed yesterday.

To be fair on one sack given up by Miller/Thomas, Clay took the inside blitzer when the back was obviously expecting him to take the outside man, the back was in perfect position to stop the inside rusher but had to run across a mess of lineman to try and block the outside man who sacked Ryan.

It would be great to have a starting RB who can run too.
    Miller is a joke.

He's about 900 rushing yards from his preseason goal. Maybe he will get it all next week in a Dolphins win?

So you want him to run through the invisible holes the offensive line is creating?

By .2 yards a carry. Miller should be blowing him away but he isn't.
Miller also has 2 TD's as a starting RB. That's pathetic.
One cut and gone huh? We haven't seen that at all.

You're looking at numbers and I'm looking at the context of why the numbers exist.

You are right the difference is minimal, my only point is that Thomas Is not finding holes either. There are no holes. This offensive line manages to be as bad or worse run blocking as they are vs the pass rush.

Both Miller and Thomas have looked great in space. Miller has done some nice things when given wiggle room.

The issue is the line, not our backs.

yeah miller has looked good in space...how many runs this year that looked pretty good have been stopped short because of his questionable vision though

I can't say either way, because off the top of my head I can't even pull out 10 to 20 plays I thought we had adequate run blocking.

His being right on the cusp of 4 yards a carry with this line is impressive to me.

There were few holes, the issue is we are a horrible tackling football team. Ellerbe is the worst middle linebacker in football.

Our LBs were out of place, people fail to realize hole doesnt mean a gaping hole. It means enough room to pass the line and hopefully someone engaging the closest LB.

I can guarantee you could count the number of times our line gets to the second level throughout the season on one hand.

So you're saying Miller should be blowing away the guy who is a much better runner than Miller. Your argument has gone circular.

Nope wrong answer. Miller is a backup somewhere but not a starting caliber running back.
We all is see it but most ignore it.
