I would only care if I were a Chargers fan. I would much rather see the Bolts get in that the Steelers.

Did you happen to capture John Jerrys block on the 4th and one?? Pure excellence

John Jerry shot off the line quick, he just didn't hit anybody...ugh

  4. He also had his back to the QB. Im not pointing to that one error as the reason the Dolphins lost but it certainly contributed to the loss.

  6. I would also add Philbin not challenging a pass to Wallace in the 4th that was incomplete but called complete by the refs making it 4th n 8 instead of 4th n 3. Philbin had a bad game day too.

How do we keep guys like Jerry on our roster...year after year? It just boggles the mind. We can't even block a person on short yardage

I agree with all of this, but if you really want to hear opposing fans, drop by the BB&T Center for a Panthers game some time.

Utterly hard to watch this mess today. The O line was awful again, but it has been all season. Just disappointing as all hell and now I have to listen to all my idiot friends who root for everybody else in the AFC East.

We made history today in a bad way. Had 2 chances to make the playoffs and choked. Add in scored a total of 7 points for both games. Go Phins!

Pitts just came within inches of making the playoffs thanks to Chiefs FG miss.

He should have been let go a long time ago for showing up to camp every year overweight. It's clear that not only is he not motivated but isn't a professional and certainly isn't committed to excellence. How you carry your self in the offseason, on the practice field, in the weight room is how you will carry yourself on the field. You have to be committed to winning with every thing you do. He is not committed.

I think the owner honestly wanted to keep him around but after like a decade of dealing with the idiot Philly fans, the dumbest fans on the earth, he needed a change. I've always liked him. He was hired what? 10 minutes after Philly let him go? Says a lot.

Plus, allowing two sustained scoring drives in the 4th quarter was huge. They were based mostly on the run. Once again, the run D started to wear down in the 4th...the trick play worked because we had so many guys stacked in the box to slow the bleeding. The point is in the 4th quarter we cannot play honest 7-in-the-box defense and contain the run.

On the topic of the coaching staff I thought Dave Hyde put it really nicely, something I've been trying and not succeeding at giving voice to for weeks.

What exactly DOES Joe Philbin bring to the table?

    He's not a defensive mastermind.

    He's not a quarterback whisperer.

    He's not an inspirational personality.

He's not a player personnel genius.

He's not a coaching personnel genius.

What exactly does he do well? It's not like he's got a great hold of the locker room. The Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito thing boiled up on his watch and he was completely oblivious to it, and his leadership example assured that others would be oblivious to it as well. The players didn't actually respond and start playing together like a team until that whole thing boiled over and the media all collectively started demonizing every single player on the team. That wasn't Joe Philbin that got those players to band together for one another, it was the external circumstance. And even that didn't last long. Philbin sure as sh-t couldn't get the roster to band together long enough to prevent a monumental late season collapse to two losing teams.

He doesn't hire good assistant coaches. Mike Sherman has turned out to be crap. He's out the door. Jim Turner and Zac Taylor ought to go with him. Ken O'Keefe hasn't developed anyone. Not sure you can say Lou Anarumo has really developed anyone. George Edwards hasn't developed anyone. Kevin Coyle has been "ok" at best. The only two position coaches that have developed anyone are Dan Campbell (Charles Clay) and Kacy Rodgers...and BOTH of them are holdovers from the previous regime.

So what exactly does this cat bring to the table positively that makes us say yeah man, this guy should be a head coach?

If you're calling these two "rookies", I think you may need to realize that these guys were around for the full 2012 season.
Just a point of interest to consider.

I've been wondering this since the day we hired him. I didn't see any sensible reason back then, and I don't see one now. We hired a glorified OL coach, same as with Tony Sparano.

  37. CaribPhin

We fell into the Cam Cameron trap. Offensive coordinator for a great offense. Totally ignoring the fact that Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers did the dirty work. Philbin didn't even call plays in Green Bay.

Worst part is, of the 3 finalists, we probably hired the worst choice (though none are spectacular). Todd Bowles is already being mentioned as a head coaching candidate and McCoy just got the Chargers into the playoffs.

The most disturbing thing in Armando's blog this morning is that Ross likes Philbin, not because of his coaching acumen, but because he is "open and engaged" with Ross, unlike Sparano.

So, shooting the rbeeze with the owner is more important than actually performing? Give me a break

Should have seen the Cameron disaster coming though. He was a terrible HC in college as well. CK and others tried to warn us about that but most people (myself included) were just blinded by Rivers, LT and Gates gashing people.

That coaching search was the worst of all time. We passed on Tomlin, Whisenhunt and John Harbaugh and couldn't convince Carrol to leave SC

We all brought that up in discussion at one point or another as having to be a major factor in considering Philbin.
You would hope that the Dolphins Execs had done the same.
