Why, because I'm not screaming for someone to be fired? OK, OK, OK, you win. I demand that Ken Okeefe and Dave Puloka be fired. How can so many guys at one position get hurt? If Ross doesn't do something about this I am done with this team!!! There. Happy now?
Ireland is still the GM. He's already been extended for next season. But. The Firelanders were right... You gotta admit that's pretty funny.
I hope that was done to help with the draft, free agency etc. this season AND if Jeffy didnt work out then he would have some dough to walk out the door with. HOWEVER Something tells me Ross doesnt like to pay someone for nothing.
Yes I am sure I would but I think what we need is to rehire Dan Marino as president and give him the authority that he originaly wanted then place a gm and then let him hire a new coach .
That's B.S.!!! Ireland brought in Hartline, Keller, Gibson, Binns and Wallace to give us a top flight passing game just like Philbin wanted. But Nooooo, except for Wallace they all tore their knees up. Clearly the problem is the the WR and strength & conditioning coaches. Get Darren Krein and Phil Mcgeoghan outta here too!!! Unfortunately Ross is too stupid to see what's right in his face. He should have canned them already, now the other teams will be snatching up all of the good coaches before we even get a chance to interview them. 2014 is gonna be another year full of catastrophic knee injuries, maybe then this organization will take their heads outta their asses. Hey this is fun, I see why you guys do it so much
too damn long and the sunshine pumpers need to clam up because we need to be winning meaningful games instead of the most meaningless games only.
I wonder if the Ireland/Philbin supporters, the blind followers were the same one's who supported and had blind faith in Dave Wannstedt in December of 2002. After losing back to back games and blowing a playoff spot. That turned out well. Blow. It. Up.
C'mon man, why you gotta put my name in it? Believe it or not, the Dolphins do not consult with me before making decisions.
They absolutely thought Wannstedt, Speillman, Nick, Cameran, Mueller and Sparano were the best thing to ever happen to the franchise. As I said before, even our stadium janitors are the best. Homers for life!
That's possible. But if they are gonna do something for P.R. reasons, wouldn't they want to actually announce it to the press?
I'm warming to the idea of Jeff Ireland being gone and a shakeup of coordinators/assistants with Philbin staying but... Can anyone provide an example of a HC that didn't have success out of the gates (first season or two), was then forced to fire one or two of his initial coordinator hirings, and the team excelled or got better?
I wanted Wannstedt fired in 2002, after blowing home field and a playoff spot by gagging. That team SHOULD have competed for a Super Bowl. They fired him a year and a half too late. I never wanted Spielman to get the job. I loved Nick Saban. I never wanted Cam Cam, I hated that decision as soon as it happened. I did not mind Mueller, mostly because of his past. That went bad. I did not mind Sparano at first, he turned into a caricature. I liked Jeff Ireland's resume. I don't mind him as a scout, he should not be a GM though. He is killing us. I think Philbin is alright, his staff is awful. Unfortunately, it appears he will go the "loyalty" route. Fire everyone.
If Philbin was going then he would have gone by now, available coaches are already being lined up by teams, you either do it now or its too late to get the best available
Don't take it personal bro. I used you for no other reason than you were the last person I read defending Ireland.
His username absolutely can be used in this forum as a posterchild of Ireland love. Do not feel bad, you did the right thang.
We won't find a decent GM candidate who will be willing to not hire his "guy" to be coach. I think Steve Ross love's Philbin so much that he will insist on keeping him. Here's what I think (not hope) will happen. Jeff Ireland is demoted, if he turns it down he gets fired. Our GM search is a sham. We bring in someone without real power. A retread looking for a cheque because he will be saddled with a head coach he did not hire. The "power" is shared between the new GM, Philbin and the real power in the franchise, Dawn Aponte. Philbin is not forced to fire anyone or change the staff because of Ross' unshakable faith in the man. Mike Sherman, due to outside pressure "retires". Philbin brings in a consultant, Taylor is promoted to assistant offensive coordinator. Philbin's puppet. No one else gets fired. We go 7-9, Ryan Tannehill stays the same. The defense gets a little worse. We go 3-13. Ross finally does what he must, and fires Philbin. Dawn Aponte becomes the first female General Manger in NFL history. Then it gets worse. This feels like 2002. Everyone KNEW Wannstedt needed to be fired. We held on and held on and then bottomed out. Buckle up, it could be a long, slow journey into the abyss.
Apparently an NFL owner told Mike Silver that Jeff Ireland's continued employment in Miami is more baffling than Matt Millen's reign in Detroit.
Unfortunately, I think he's still a little gun shy from the debacle that was the attempt to hire Harbaugh. THAT was when I lost it for Ross. Completely moronic on his/Ireland's part. That was this organization's lowest point in it's history in my view. Is Mark Cuban interested in an NFL team too?
THe rams are shaping up as a nice team. If they get a qb this year watch out. You can't run on their defense. Plus they have two top 15 picks this year
