Yeah it was a bit unclear but if it's not a unification match it makes no sense.

Yeah I agree. I always wondered how they would get cena the wwe title back after they gave him the world title and this is their solution

I mean it's pretty for the best to just have 1 WWE World title. They probably should unify the IC and US titles too since those are never defended anyway.

I doubt its a unification match. My guess is they swap titles. That way Cena can be WWE Champ and Orton can still lay claim to a top title. They'd be stupid to give away the unification match on anything other than WM30.

December is historically a poor PPV buyrate month while the WM name sells the show on its own. They did the first ever unification match on a December PPV so they're probably just trying to spike a buy rate heading into their big part of the year.

Switching the titles makes zero sense, who cares in terms of storyline wise. But guess with the way things are right now in the WWE that's probably what's going to happen. If it isn't a unifying match it makes little sense. I mean you very well could be right since they never said "unify" or anything like that. Which means it will probably end with a screwy ending, but how great would it be if it was to unify the titles and Jericho comes out of nowhere pushes both guys off the ladder and runs up and grabs both titles and claims he's the real unified champion.

I'm in agreement that a unifying match is needed. And they sort of went down that path with this match, but pumped the brakes within the same show they first promoted it as a unifying match. Which tells me that yes, they are setting up some sort of screwy finish.

Wrestlemania does sell itself, to some degree, but they still need WM moments for the Blu-Ray sales, Superstar DVD's etc. having a unification match between arguably, the two top stars of the last decade would be a huge WM Moment.

As for swapping titles, doesn't make sense to me either, but just a gut feeling I have.

I don't disagree with you for saving that match for WM but just think the WWE doesn't care about that because they have the event sold already. They will be able to make WM moments even without unifying the titles.

Well, you may be right. I just read an interview with HHH that was pseudo Kayfabe, but it sounds fairly convincing as why he wants a unified champion and that the brand split is officially over, so no need for two titles.

I just can't see them dropping one of those belts though. They make a ton of money on both. Maybe they have them carry two when they come out?

Yeah it made little sense to have two world champions once the brand split ended. I think its time to just get rid of the WHC anyway and just stick to 3 men's titles (WWE, IC and Tag) to make them more meaningful.

The argument can be made though, that the benefits of unifying the title may be outweighed by the drawbacks. Two belts means you have an ability to raise certain. I'd-carders up. The World Title has been that title to break newer stars into the main event scene. Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Ziggler and others, all got their first taste because there were two titles.

Ending that means we are most likely stuck with the same crew at the top, that we see now. Rotating between Cena, Orton, Show and occasionally Punk. That may be okay, but folks who want to see guys like Ziggler, Bryan and others get a chance near the top, better settle in an order some extra patience.

I was talking to my buddy about this very same thing. Guys like Christian will never win a main title again. World title gave the opportunity for him, Rey Mysterio, Ziggler, ect become WHC.

    AHHH...NO.

Not to Mark out....but some of us care that Ric Flair carried that title and it has a great history. The US Title however...dump it if you are never gonna defend it on RAW.

The US Title should be this generations' "TV Title"..and it should be defended on RAW at least every other week.

Oh..and let me issue a threat....

I buy the Royal Rumble and WM each and every year. (it's the two PPV I mark out for, could care less about the rest really)

They give John Cena BOTH titles going into the Rumble, I'm not buying that PPV.

I can;t stand John Cena and his sarcastic no selling ***. Whatever happened to Heels No-Selling and Faces selling heels?

Cena basically took a dump on Orton;s chest tonight on Raw. That was embarrassing.

Oh come on the WHC isn't the same title Flair carried around. It is in appearance maybe but right now it's simply a prop and a confusing one at that since no one ever knows if its more important or less important as the WWE title. None of the titles mean anything anymore. You have IC, US and Tag champions going months without defending the titles on PPVs or even on TV shows.

Seriously there shouldn't be 2 "World" titles in the WWE, there should be 1 main title. If they want to use the US or IC belt as the stepping stone to the WWE title like it was done in the past, great I'm all for it. But without two separate brands it's pointless to have two World champions.

I assume they get rid of the world title and keep the new wwe title as the main title since it's so new. No use spending all that money on a title and only use it for a few months. This is when they should have unveiled the new WWE title

    Santa Clara. ;)

I make this correction mainly because I live extremely close to the new stadium and not so close to San Francisco.

On a fun side note, once Cena entered the ring at the end of the show tonight, it dawned on me that I have been in the ring with three former or current world champions that were in the ring. Thought that was kind of cool.

Also, Cena went easy on Orton, to be honest. He could have absolutely decimated him if he wanted to. It was actually a better promo than his normally pandering drivel. And that was after his painfully obvious heat sharing of Daniel Bryan's monster heat. Once he got into the meat of the promo, it was sound.

Orton's promo was terrible. He repeats himself constantly and ends up having to correct what he says in every attempt. He is the very definition of mediocre...and his cousin was just signed to developmental...sigh.

Also, I think it is fairly likely that tonight started the Wrestlemania 30 programs for Bryan and Punk.

I loved the ending to RAW last night. Cena absolutely nailed his promo and the reason was because he was being real and not trying to be funny or say stupid one liners. Cena's best promos are when he has an actual point. I also loved how the crowd kept cheering for Daniel Bryan during it.

I do however hope that we don't get a Bryan/Michaels WM match, for once I wish when a wrestler says he's retired he actually stays retired. I'd much rather have a Bryan/Punk match or hell give me either Bryan or Punk against Cena as I'm not really interested in seeing Triple H wrestle one of them either.

Word is the WWE is working on bringing in Batista to wrestle a match at WM, possibly against Brock Lesnar, and getting Hulk Hogan to make an appearance.

EDIT: Dave Meltzer is reporting it might be Orton vs. Batista for the WWE title.

Batista will draw a few eyeballs. I was never a big fan, but I will even admit that I will tune in next month when he arrives, just out of curiosity.

I have a hard time seeing them put him in a Main Even match at WM since all indications show that this is a short term deal. But a high profile-ish feud would be in order. I would be interested to see if perhaps, he runs into The Shield who claim that this is an injustice that he can walk in after years away and be placed towards the top of the card. Having him pin Ambrose and Rollins before falling to Roman Reigns at WM might be a good way to use him. Once Reigns beats him (preferably after sending The Shield away), you can have Ambrose and Rollins attack him for going rogue and set up a program for Reigns vs. The Shield after WM or something.

    Poor show...

I like Batista but I HATE HATE HATE the Rock/Lesnar/RVD/Jericho (not as much) type wrestlers, who wrestle once every two-three months. Unless it was Angle, I really don't care.

Because the WWE likes to keep bringing in older stars instead of building up new ones. But I agree there's no reason for Batista to be in the WWE title match at WM.

See I don't mind when Jericho and RVD come in because at least they did jobs and put newer talent over.

I also love The Rock and Brock so I also don't mind them wrestling ever once and awhile too, I just hate how they have booked Brock since he first came back.

Interesting twist with Bryan. Not sure if I like it or not. But it makes me want to see where it goes, so I suppose it is an early success in that regard.

Also, speaking of the Wyatt Family. How awesome would it be if there was actually a "devil," making Wyatt do these things, and that devil was Jake Roberts? Roberts can't be trusted for a longtime roll, but having him cut a few pre-taped promos alongside Wyatt where he explains himself and essentially gives Wyatt the green light to carry out his mission, would be awesome, in my opinion.

I'm holding out hope that this angle will be over by the Rumble and end with Bryan turning on the Wyatt's and it being revealed that it was part of his master plan to get back at Triple H etc.

However would it surprise anyone if this was yet another screw you to the fans by the WWE?

    And that opponent is...Daniel Bryan.
