From start to finish. It blows the first one out of the water imo, and I really liked that one, too.

agreed on all points. It was long, but the portions with the dragon carried the movie IMO. I know it's a money thing, but this should have been split into 2 movies, not 3.

Blackfish: Documentary about the serial killing whale @ seaworld, Tilikum.

Holy ****, this movie is legit. One of the more interesting documentaries I've seen in a while. Learned a lot of about Killer Whales (cool animals) and the story of Tilikum is both sad and cruel. It's like watching chronicle and witnessing the birth of a supervillain. Only this is about a psychopathic whale. It's such a good documentary. And they even go beyond Tilikum to show some other crazy killer whale behavior when trapped in captivity.

Saw Anchorman 2 saturday night. Had some funny moments, and others where I felt like the humor was forced(Steve Carell).

The only super villain in that movie is Sea World. This movie has started the tide that will hopefully close the doors to that horrible place.

We are the Millers: Pretty much exactly what you would expect. Recommended if you like Jason Sudakis. If not, I would skip it. Jennifer Aniston is mostly just there

Man of Steel: I'm not really much of a Superman fan, but I liked this one. I think the tone was a bit more somber than needed, but still enjoyable. It was about 30 minutes too long

Hobbit 2: Loved it. The purists can shove it. Any time spent in Jackson's Middle-earth is time well spent, so I don't think it was too long. Such is my bias

Agreed. There are some laughably cheesy parts (the part where Tauriel turns around to find that Legolas had been following her, complete with an overdramatic 3-second orchestral fluorish) but the movies look great. One thing that stuck out to me in the Hobbit 2 was the awesome voice-acting. Both Benedict Cumberbatch, who did Smaug I believe, and whoever did
Sauron's voice when he was just a shadow did a great job, I was legimitately stressed out.

Yeah. Some cheesy parts. Whatever, lol. Smaug was very well done overall. The things that needed to be done right were done right.

Watched '28 Weeks Later' yesterday. It wasn't as good as '28 Days Later' but still not bad. After watching that, and seeing 'The Hurt Locker' and 'The Avengers,' I think military/Govt agent type roles are all I've seen Jeremy Renner in.

Really? Hated it... every few mins he was having a flashback to some sappy moment where he was crying or whining... and this is when he wasn't unconsciousness, getting his *** kicked, or dealing with globe trotting, glacier scaling in the dark, Lois Lane, or SVU AF Colonel who flew in every aircraft in the movie and survived a helicopter crash to attempt a knife fight... geeze, felt like a chick flick hero movie written by teenage girl with unresolved Daddy issues. (enter CIF :shifty: )

Thought the last SM was more entertaining, though worst casting of SM. They never seem to do a really good SM. Affleck was a better "emo" Superman in Holleywoodland, which was a better movie. Almost as bad a superhero movie as Green Lantern, which was horrible.

As an aside, I rewatched V for Vendetta a few days ago. Damn, what a great movie. I highly recommend that one too.

Watched Wolverine. Was pretty good after the slow start. Could have done without the barfight intro by Yukio. Didn't like how they changed her appearance or role from the Comic books where she was Logan's lover and an assassin who killed Asano...

Best Wolverine series and individual comic book ever IMO:

Lone Ranger - Almost turned it off after the first overly stupid 20 mins or so. Got better as it went on, but felt wayyy too long. Didn't like Army Hammer as TLR.

Hammer of the Gods - A Viking Apocalypse Now-esque journey movie with gratuitous gore. The Worlds greatest medieval explorers and ship builder and they are always portrayed as mindless killing idiots.

Erased - Spy type movie about a guy and his daughter slated to be killed by idiots...

Entirely average. I'd recommend it for a rainy day rental if there's nothing left at Redbox. Yet another "Keanu Reeves as character inspired by Jesus". SFX were surprisingly poor.

I've heard so much bad stuff about the Lone Ranger that I don't even plan on trying to watch it. I remember they came out with a Lone Ranger movie in the early 80's when I was a kid, and it was terrible as well.

Yeah, my son wanted to watch it. Really felt like Pirates/Jack Sparrow went west and wore a dead crow instead of a tri-corn. Same humor and type of action, except with trains and horses. It is actually entertaining for an hour or so, but the first 20 mins or so are just annoying. It gets entertaining for a while, then just drags onnnnn... I redbox'd it. It was worst the $1.36 or so I spent. My son felt the same way. He liked it, but hated the beginning, overly stupid humor, and the ending.

A little above average. Great cast, well acted, mediocre plot. Enjoyable enough, but massively overhyped (here at least, not sure what sort of buzz it has in the US)

Wolf of Wallstreet is pretty amazing. Much more dark comedy and not similar to anything Scorcese has done lately. I'd sum it up as hookers, ludes, money.

Out of the Furnace. The first 20-30 mins I was thinking holy **** this is really good I wonder if it'll get better. It doesn't. Gets slower, much more predictable, and unspectacular.

American Hustle is exactly what the dude above me said.

Waiting to finally see Inside Llewin Davis.

I don't know what to rate the movie... I'm so conflicted because the movie is extremely memorable for all the right reasons (story, dialog, characters, acting, etc...) but it was too long. Too many times, themes and concepts were repeated in the second act, and it felt as if the story lacked direction because it didn't seem to move forward to any conclusion. This made the 3rd act feel rushed. The ending is interesting too. It's not a typical hollywood ending. It feels so unsatisfying, but that's what makes it great. I remember people giving MS **** about the Departed's ending, having the antagonist (Damon) killed by Dignum, because it satisfies American's need for retribution and closure (which is different from Infernal Affairs ending). This film doesn't offer the same type of retribution and closure, and it's kind of perfect given the theme of the American Dream. Is it real or not? I loved it.

The script was strong and the actors were always on point, so it's still enjoyable. @ 2h15m, this movie is an instant classic. @ 3h3m, it's worth your time and/or money. DiCaprio's performance alone is worth a at least one viewing.

    Pro's
    - Hilarious movie. No idea it was a comedy (albeit extremely dark) going in.
    - DiCaprio kills it. Again. Should win an oscar, probably won't. He's the Dan Marino of actors.
    - Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, and the rest of the cast are great too. No one is out of place.
    - Margot Robbie is sexy as ****... Where has she been all my life? Giving Emilia Clarke a run for my money. Her sex appeal in this movie is through the roof...
    - Loved how American dream is explored in this crazy and debaucherous angle. I don't think I've seen anything like it.
    - Boobs, drugs, and bros.

    Cons
    - Too long. 2nd act is the longest and it lacks direction at a certain point. Even still, at it's worst, it's still entertaining and memorable.

    Will Watch it Again/10.

    'Blue is the Warmest Color.'

Just to get it out of the way, yes—the sex scene is everything it has been said to be. A. Ma. Zing. Adele Exarchopoulos is the most bewitching combination of youthful innocence and undiluted sex since Bardot.

Beautifully shot, sumptuous, with a literary feel to it. That said, it could have been at least 40-50 minutes shorter, and the too-subtle passing of time for the characters was confusing and had the effect of jarring you out of the setting, which is a fatal mistake for a director. It reminded of Polanski's 1979 'Tess' in both its visual appeal and its glacial pace.

All in all, I'm glad I saw it. I want to read the book now.

Man of Steel - 7/10....really liked it, Cavil is awesome. Crow is always good. Costner is always good. I liked the pacing, maybe needed more of his story being Clark Kent.....how important it is to be unidentified working at the Bugel, but maybe they touch on that in #2.

Despicable Me 2 - Cute, funny and cool. I love the Minions, always have me rolling. Really good franchise.
