They're both second year QBs. Tanny has 2 years of starting experience and Foles only has like half a season starting experience.

What do you think? Is Nick Foles a better QB than Tannehill?

Two completely different offensive schemes and talent levels how can you compare the two?

Foles has played in 20 games 33 TDs, 7 INTs, 7 Fumbles.
Tanny has played in 32 games 36 TDs, 30 INTs, 11 Fumbles.

Foles just doesn't throw picks. Its incredible. 582 pass attempts and 7 picks. Tanny has 1,072 pass attempts and has 30 picks.

Foles has a line that can keep him untouched. We have a line that allows a dline's to hammer Tanny. Your right you can't compare. Put Foles behind our line he won't play 20 snaps never mind 20games. Tanny has done amazing mainly avoiding serious injury.

Foles is a better QB but he is also on a much better team and plays in a weak division.

I think Tannehill in Philly's offense and team would put up similar numbers to Foles. I think Foles in our offense and surrounding talent would look like Ray Lucas.

Foles has one of the better offensive lines and the best rb in the league but tannehill has better wrs.
Foles doesn't turn the ball over and he can do two things much better than tannehill hit the deep pass and has much better pocket presence..
The eagles took off once foles took over and haven't looked back.Mike vicks qb rating was only 86.6 in the 7 games compared to 119.0 for foles and he played with the same offence. So give foles credit he led the eagles to the the playoffs and won when it mattered.
I will give tannehill a pass on the bills game because of the pass protection but he choked against the jets.
So yea at this point its not even close.Foles.

I dont get these kind of threads....to be honest. First of all..look at the running game Philly has. Its a completely different situation in Philly. Foles has had a great season..dont take anything from him. Chip Kelly is a great coach. Hes adapted his system one way with Vick and another with Foles. But you can't judge Qbs over one season..judge them in a few years..see what happens.

Too many different scenarios to compare, but living in the area and watching a **** ton of Eagles games, and more specifically McCoy, their running game is superb. That takes a lot of weight off a QB's shoulders. They also have Jackson (who despite "only" being a deep threat is really great at what he does) and Maclin when healthy. I like Maclin better than I like Jackson, and Riley Cooper has stepped it up big time in Maclin's absence this year. Celek is also a decent tight end, and their LT (Peters) and LG (Mathis, d'oh) made the all-pro team this year, and a lot of people are saying that Jason Kelce should have made the all-pro team, and I agree. He is a great center. That's 3/5 of the offensive line, which we also do not have. Plus, they have quick strike ability to get ahead, and we have not been able to do that much with Wallace because stone hands and bad offensive line and deep ball throwing issues.

MCcoy I will give you but desean jackson is no better than wallace. If tannehill had any touch on the deepball wallace would have had at least 10 tds if not more.If this was the case we would be playing this weekend.

Do the numbers 6.10,8,8 mean anything to you? If you do you would know why assuming Wallace would have 10 or 10+ TD's is stupid...

  15. anlgp

Foles has that touch. It's one area that he's better IMO. Plus the INTs thing. Neither of those are enough to compare, though.

Not sure about these comparisons, and i don't have the statistics but i do believe 5 lined up bales of hay are in fact better than our offensive line.

The touch and turnovers is the difference between winning and losing. How many games did we lose if he only hit that deepball or didn't fumble? How many games did we lose by 3 pts or less?
Foles made the eagles better when he took over for vick and thats a fact.

So he should have had 17+ TD's? Wow how was Wallace that open this year and not the rest of his career! ( sarcasm)

Right now it's too early to make that question IMO. If in about a year Foles continues his level of production and Tannehill only gets marginally better, then yes, Foles will be the better QB.

He hits half of them he has 10 Einstein. But r great qb hit none of them. And I am talking college wide open.
But ur a typical fin fan with his blind homer glasses on.NO point wasting anymore time with u just like all the pro henne people I had to deal with.
Hopefully tannehill gets better with these real issues or he will always just be an average qb like he is now.

Tannehill's deep ball percentage (over 20 yards) on passes thrown to Wallace was a little below average this season IIRC. I don't really know the exact numbers, but if it were at least average, I think Wallace could have had at least 2 more TD's. If the percentage were a little above average, then 4 extras TD's wouldn't be out of the question, so about 9 TD's for the season could have been possible.

I'm not arguing Foles didn't make the Eagles better. I'm arguing if we had the offensive line and running game that the Eagles do I think we would be okay. You're also right about the comparison to Jackson / Wallace, I think.

People here act like some system just makes Foles a better deep ball thrower. No, his talent does. The guy could walk in Davie and be able to hit Mike Wallace in stride, can Tannehill ever do that consistently? We'll see next year but the answer right now is no.

I read an article where Foles was pretty stngy in high school as well. He had a good number of TDs and low picks. Not sure how he did in college, but he seems to make good decisions with where the ball needs to go.

    I'd say inconclusive.

Statistically, Foles is much better. However, he has substantially better offensive talent around him. He had 2 all pro offensive lineman and an all pro running back as a supporting cast. That doesn't include Jackson, Cooper, Ertz and Celek which I think are better than our top 4 WR/TE.

Tannehill and it's not close. I liked Foles at draft time but he is purely a product of the system. His jump from year 1 to year 2 basically bears that out. From year 1 to year 2 he went from being a turnover machine under Reid to a guy who didn't turn it over in a run heavy scheme. He also raised his completion % 3 points, his ya about 3 yards and did that while losing his 2nd best wr. The only other change was along the OL (Lane Johnson...who isn't that good Imo) and at HC

Wow. Talk about hyperbole. Just because you're upset about the line play doesn't mean that you should go all ridiculous. If we were just talking pass blocking, sure five bales of hay would be tougher to get through than our line, but that’s only one aspect of line play. There is also run blocking. Have you ever seen a bale of hay drive block? It’s not pretty. Now, if we’re talking bales of hay on wheelbarrows, then ok, they’d be better, but we’re not. So, let’s try to keep the hyperbole out of the discussion please.
