    What a joke.

    http://dlvr.it/4dqL2T

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday Countdown that Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland "appear to be safe," but there is "tension" between the two.
It's likely creating an awkward dynamic at Fins headquarters. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in late December that "no one in Miami is safe," but owner Stephen Ross has made no moves since. The Dolphins signed Ireland to a head-scratching contract extension before the 2013 season, which was likely fully guaranteed. Ross is believed to be pushing for Philbin to fire offensive assistants, including coordinator Mike Sherman.

If we fired them both, we could get our pick of the top GM candidates, Tom Gamble, Marc Ross etc, all these executives who would get to come here and hire their own coach, there's only one GM opening right now and that's in Tampa where they already hired Lovie Smith as coach, and he has final say on personnel written into his contract so that's not much of a desirable job for an executive who dreams of running his own team.

I am speechless, I really am.....The owner is as big of a problem they have along with the GM and the Coaching staff....Expect this is worse because he has the money and most of the say. I hold out hope the Wells report casts them in such a light whereas they have to make a move, but I doubt it. My 2 favorite teams have "reports" that I am waiting on to determine the next move ie Yanks/Phins.

More media speculation, but this is not too hard to fathom. Both Ireland and Philbin might just be in "save my job" mode and that could mean blaming the other party.

If true though, I just cannot understand why Ross would be so adverse to firing people even when the alternative is having such a dysfunctional management.

I wouldn't be opposed to one more year of both and then if things don't pan out next year fire them both and start over. Fact of the matter is Philbin really hasn't done much to get fired and firing Ireland will create an odd dynamo between a new GM and old coach.

To me it's pretty hard to fathom, especially since word has gotten out that the relationship between Ireland and Philbin is quite strained. I don't know how Ross would allow the opportunity for critical dysfunction to fester and grow.

If this is true. Ross really is Dumbo.

  8. He should of fired Ireland when he fired sparano. Ireland needs to go and the new GM should be given full authority to fire Philbin if he does not like what he sees or thinks he can bring in a better HC.

Wayne Huizenga screwed himself with bad hirings and Stephen Ross is right behind him down that same crappy road. Pathetic. A GM who can't choose talent and put together an effective roster and a head coach who is a poor, weak leader of men.

Oh, and FinD just thinks this more mindless media talk. Because NOBODY on TV or Radio or in the papers has a clue. They all just make stuff up.

I prefer to let Jeff go, retain Joe Philbin.

My second preference would be to fire them all and start over.

The last thing I want is another lame duck season with drama internally. (This will likely happen)

    Yup. And he walked into Dolphin Headquaters, looked Ireland and Philbin in the eyes and said;

"Hell of job this season gentlemen. Keep up the excellent work. I don't give a damn if we shat the bed in Weeks 16 and 17, nothing we could do. 8-8 is nothing to be ashamed of. Keep your heads up and keep trying your hardest. That is all I can ask. I mean, what else am I supposed to do?"

Guys.....while I cant say I know for sure.....Ross is a VERY good business man. Hes not inept when it comes to hiring and firing people. Your going to hear so many different things in the media....because their are a great many agendas at play here.

Well, doesn't reporting week old news, by a "national media insider" indicate "more mindless media talk" ? What's wrong is that too many fans just want Ross to fire everyone and start anew, but is that just a gut reaction or the right thing to do? I don't have a problem with him taking his time, and trying to make a more rational decision, even tho I may not agree with that decision.... I'm not opposed to hitting the reset button, nor am I opposed to minor adjustments and keeping basic status quo. The waiting is the hard part...if he's looking into replacements already, great. If he's still trying to figure out what he wants to do, that's ok too...but we, the fans, are still in a holding pattern, due to the "mindless media talk"...

Fair enough. We just have a difference of opinion. There is no way I will ever be convinced that keeping Jeff Ireland as GM of this the football team is the right thing to do.
I will listen to the argument about keeping Philbin. But I'd be inclined to let the new GM decide that.

Also, it does appear to be somewhat new news, if accurate.
The reports says both Ireland and Philbin are safe. Suggesting Ross indeed has made up his mind to sit on his *** and stick his fingers in his ears and say "lalala...I can't hear you...lalala

Ross should have fired Ireland years ago. Why he didn't move on from the Parcells debacle completely after that fat ******* padded his retirement plans while destroying this franchise is beyond me. Its time to move on.

    Someone needs a diaper change.

Look, don't believe me. Go back and read all the stuff that wasn't true the past few years about Manning, Fisher, Harbaugh, Cowher, Gruden, Flynn, McCoy, Jennings, Philbin, the Stark's Finger, the Cogs & Martin issue, the locker room coup, all the reports that we were gonna hear something Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, etc. It is a never ending stream of bad reports, speculation & agenda driven "facts".

Believe the BS if you want to, just know you were given the option not too.

Maybe, but it's the same things we heard early in Dec. that Ireland was safe. And several reports on Thurs and Fri were that it's likely that JI and JP are safe....it's a rehash of what we 'figured' a week ago.... Look the last factual information we got was from a JI direct quote on Friday, "No decision" was all he had to say... No decision means he's still mulling it around... I want this to be over, no matter the outcome, just as badly as you or anyone else, but at this time...[publicly] no decision has been made... Thats all Mort said...

And as to keeping JI, I'm not convinced either yet, even tho I've supported Ireland to date...the fact is, Ross, again unless something is not public yet, is supporting him. If he decides that, then we have to live with it...I don't know for sure, but even tho we agree or don't agree, neither will be switching our support to another team anytime soon....that being the likely case, let's just get it on and move onto the Senior bowl...

What a complete and total joke. I hate this team so much. I'll always be a Dolphins fan but what Parcells and Ireland turned this team into I hate with a fiery passion. Do any of you really think a successful 2014 season will be possible if this type of dysfunction is retained and allowed to fester? It will be 2011 all over again.

Parcells/Ireland is the worst thing that ever happened to this franchise.

Every single thing reported about this team isn't true, obviously, but there is enough smoke to suspect a fire. You don't always get admissions of guilt or smoking guns or photo evidence, sometimes you just need to read between the lines. Something is wrong with this franchise and if you don't see that I don't know what to say.

Instead of worrying about reading between the lines, how about you read exactly what I've wrote verbatim and show me where I said everything was hunky dory with the franchise.......

I'm not saying no one needs to be fired. I'm not saying we didn't we didn't drop the ball. In fact, I didn't say anything in this thread until I was literally brought into it and what I have said has been about the media, not the team.

You basically say to never believe any of the media reports, well sorry but some of them are accurate. Some of these NFL "insiders" actually leak information from sources on the team, some of it is true. And if even 20% of the garbage reported about this team has been accurate then the front office needs to go. And I'd say 20% is a pretty fair estimate all things considered. The media isn't the issue in Miami.

Whether some reports are true or not, all I have to do is see a team that is currently suffering the longest streak without a winning season in franchise history, and you know there are clearly issues. And Ireland has been here the entire way.

I guess being 15-17 as the HC for the past two seasons isn't enough for you to consider firing Philbin. When you state that Philbin , "hasn't done much", truer words have never been written. As far as firing Ireland goes. He should have been fired after the 2011 season and keeping him around just because Philbin may be given another chance to lead the Dolphins to another mediocre season next year, makes absolutely no sense at all.

If 20% of the media says is true, why listen to any of it?

All I'm saying is until you hear something from the team, there's no need to go on these insane hate benders everyone has been going on. Mostly cause its pointless, but also because it is specifically designed to make you guys even angrier. You're being willingly manipulated and then ***** at the guy trying to tell you guys to be more discerning.

I don't think anyone believes everything they read, but honestly, a national report from Mort is usually fairly accurate. He's not known as a spitballer, he has real sources and real connections and if he says someone is safe its probably true. Maybe it isn't but he's not in the habit of going on national TV and saying things that are just speculation or BS, he wouldn't have lasted too long if that were the case. This isn't a blog report or a random tweet.

Actually I do extremely well in my personal life. I have been married to the same great woman for the past forty years. I retired financially well off when I was 54 years of age. I am moving to Maui next month and we are building a million dollar plus home on the Island. I play golf at least five days a week and run at least five miles a day, as well as doing at least 250 sit ups a day and I am 63 years old. I happen to have a great life, thank you.

Now exactly what does that have to do with the fact the Dolphins are one of the worst run teams in the NFL? You keep making excuses for team management, time after time. That is what I call infantile, or in your case, just clueless.
