easy peezie japanesie... Knowshon Moreno RB Hakeem Nicks WR Jeremy Maclin WR Jimmy Graham TE Brandon Albert T Alex Mack C (move Pouncey to G) Resign Paul Soliai Daryl Smith LB Brandon Spikes LB Brent Grimes CB Aqib Talib CB Jairus Byrd S sign all of these players, cut Mike Wallace, Ellerbe, Wheeler because they are bums. What Salary Cap?
Sign Geoff Schwartz, Brandon Albert, Brandon Spikes, cut Wheeler, draft a big body either at TE or WR and then sign depth for the OL.
Alberts #1 priority. Grimes is #2. Whole draft should be oline focused. Get Jeremy hill somewhere in there too
He's not leaving Detroit no matter who the new coach is. He grew up a Lions fan, worked at Ford Field as a security guard then got his dream shot to play for the Lions. And the fans and Meyhew love him. Bell & Bush compliment each other.
Sure, but if you dangle enough money he would leave I'm sure. Detroit is crowded with RBs. Bell might want more money than Mayhew wants to allocate to him.
Sign or draft the best players at the following positions RT LT RG LG TE A safety to replace Clemons A CB opposite Grimes and if they fail to sign Grimes, a second CB to replace Grimes LB's to replace Ellerbe and Wheeler. A RB who can actually break tackles and make a move on a defensive player when he gets in the secondary. I am okay with the WR's, especially if Brandon Gibson is healthy going into the season next year. Basically I see the Dolphins with a lot of holes to still fill, but unfortunately it will probably be Ireland filling these holes. So it might be better to discuss who we want in the 2015 free agent market when we hopefully will have a competent GM making the selection of the players for the Dolphins.
No doubt money talks. But he's not that impact RB that is gonna draw the kind of money that Detroit wouldn't or couldn't match. It would take someone to over pay for a RB that hasnt been an every down back. But you never know it is the NFL I just don't see anyone overpaying for him.
2 inexpensive value additions should be Jamon Meredith at guard [who filled in nicely when Carl Nicks was injured] and Vincent Rey at linebacker [who flashed everything in Cincy's system while filling in for Maualuga & Burfict that we hoped Ellerbe/Wheeler would be- 27 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 INT, and 4 passes deflected in a mere 2 starts..... and then a sack, pick-6, FF, and PD in week 16 off the bench].
Hard to get much worse so they've got nowhere to go but up. Either way we have no choice but to wait and see if they improve.
Dolphins desperately need to rebuild the OL. FA's Jared Veldheer LT and RG Jon Asamoah would be a great start. Rookies Cameron Erving RT and Gabe Ikard OC would be quality starters from day 1. Pouncey to left guard and you have the makings of a top 3 OL. NT/DT/DE Al Woods played surprisingly well for the Steelers when Ziggy Hood and Steve Mclendon had injuries. He really shined at NT in the 3-4. This is the kind of pick-up that a smart GM makes, so don't expect it from Ireland. A five year 15 million dollar contract with plenty guaranteed should reel him in. Ropati Pitoitua DT/DE has finally matured and played very well for the Titans this year, even at DE, and he is 6' 8" 312. He would make a formidable 5-technique in a base 3-4. A three year 8 million dollar contract maybe. Charles Tillman is the finest veteran leadership available in the NFL period. There isn't another player that could do more for the Dolphins culture and playing attitude than him. He may have a couple years at boundary corner left in him but he may be able to play FS or nickel for many more years. Would he ever play anywhere but Chicago?? The Lord moves in mysterious ways, and every man has his price, or do they? DE/OLB Michael Johnson would be perfect if the Dolphins end up running a 3-4 defense. HUGE contract though. Toby Gerhart would only be about 10 times as effective as Thomas at RB.
huh? Albert will be 29 when we start next season, not 33. I know following the 2012 season, when Pro Football Focus normalized their data, they had him rated as the 6th best pass protecting tackle.... and as they put it at the conclusion of this season, "Albert was no slouch again this year".
Albert isn't an average LT. Also depends on what money the corner wants. I'm not breaking the bank for a corner. Ever.
Too early to talk FA since half the guys your talking about will be re-signed and never hit the market.
Pick out the free agents that are the most likely to be overpaid and never live up to their contracts. That's who Jeff Ireland will sign.
Obviously I'm interested in OL as far as FA is concerned. That said, Dennis Pitta is one of the F.A. I'm most interested in outside of that realm.
He finished the year ranked 18th. I would much rather have the younger Veldheer. Him.....I would gladly pay the big money to.
