Ben Mcadoo -- Really?

Andrew Abramson now reporting that even Ben McAdoo may shy away from the Dolphins because the OC job is not viewed to be an ideal position. He would rather stay in Green Bay and continue to be QB Coach, waiting for a better opportunity.

Abramson has been told that if there's anyone qualified it would be best to promote from within and/or have Joe Philbin call the plays.

Christ, we can't even get the superfluous third nipple guy here.

 

I'm respectfully asking you to quit driving this narrative.

We don't know that Philbin was forced to fire Sherman. We don't know that Philbin was interested in hiring McAdoo. We don't know that McAdoo would turn down the job. We don't even know if all the moves are done being made yet.

 

After calming down for over a week now, this is unfortunately what I think will happen unless JI and JP are relieved of duty. Ross will be repeating history, only this time he will be keeping Philbin instead of Sparano, and hiring Mcadoo instead of Daboll with the same results. I don't know how Ross can afford another year of this regime in place. I have nothing personal against Ireland or Philbin, I just personally don't see anything but mediocrity now and in the future with these guys in charge. I'm really getting sick of mediocrity with this franchise. It makes me sick to remember the level of excitement I had when we won the AFC East in 08, but when your mediocre, that's like your SB.
After reading stuff posted here about Malzahn, and watching him do his thing on a championship level last night almost pulling off one of the biggest upsets in BCS history, that's the type of innovator we need here. Would love to see Ross clean house then do whatever it takes to get Gus on board.

 

I dont see why people think Auburn over FSU would have been an upset. Granted their QB throws like a ten year old girl and their defense has some lapses, however yhey beat a ton of really good teams.

That said I'd love Malzahn. I doubt it happens though, Philbin is safe and honestly I'm fine with that

Yes we do, his support for Sherman right after Tannehill's lack of support indicates he wanted Sherman to remain on the staff. Just because you don't agree with the reports or speculation out there does not mean it's not true.

Even if he wanted to fire him he would still praise him in the media because they are basically best friends.

You don't have to say he sucks, but you can give a football reason for the dismissal. Even if that reason isa nebulous "we wanted to go in a different direction", it at least looks you had a football reason for the dismissal, rather than you were forced into it by your meddlesome owner

 

Trust me...I hate all these family and friend connections. I want tge best of minds leading our team not tge best of friends.


Just making the point that Philbin will never be critical of Sherman in front of a camera or reporters regardless of what he really feels.

 

It is very common for coaches to make a statement about why they felt the need for a change, in addition to their praise for the outgoing guy.

 

You know..the Patriots were a joke franchise when owned by Victor Kiam. Not until Robert Kraft..were they relevant. I fear..Im rapidly getting to the point where Im not gonna really give a **** until Ross is gone. It just never ends. It really sucks that my favorite team..is consistently seen as a league wide Joke.

Probably not. Then again, sticking up for your best friend publicly a day before you wind up canning him speaks volumes about your character, too.

I do happen to find it rather telling that a lot of the very same people who wrinkle their noses at other people for not being "loyal" to their franchise in bad times don't seem to have any problem whatsoever with canning one's best friend. Not directed at you personally, just a general observation.

 

I'm about 90% positive Sherman's firing was Stephen Ross's doing.

It being Cleveland, it's probably their idea of the Rooney Rule: "Hold on, Mr. Goodell, you can't seriously expect us to interview a black guy, we've interviewed a bloody third nipple already!"

 

And with all due respect, they're interviewing him for head coach only to get around the NFL rules that prevent teams from interviewing assistant coaches for other assistant coach positions before they're actually available and without their team's permission.

Just as they did a year ago with DC Ray Horton.

I'm not sure about the Rooney Rule, but I have it on good authority that it makes Mike Lombardi positively tingly.

They would like to interview him and find out if they want him for OC. But NFL rules prevent them from doing so until January 21st. So instead of interviewing him for OC they just interview him for HC.

It's not like he'll be insulted. He'll be grateful to them for raising his profile by interviewing him for a HC job. It's generally considered a good favor to bestow on a guy and often agents will finagle such interviews as favors, even if there's no hope of the guy getting the job.

Just because you so desperately want it to be true doesn't mean it is either. There's no evidence to suggest its true other than an unsubstantiated story that for all we know was leaked by Ireland. The same source that told Beasley that nugget also said Sherman was running the team.....which is obviously false.
