Pretty much how I see it. He needs to bring in somebody from outside the organization that carries a fair amount of clout with them...no more of this "this minor exec guy seems pretty smart, let's give him a shot" crap at GM...it's too big a need to get this thing going right.
about the team, and about anything Dolphins now that, that cursed wretch is GONE ! Hallelujah ! God is good !
They run that system BECAUSE they can't pass. He was inherited, that is not the offense Malzahn wants to run.
Creative license? More like Hard Knocks and her reputation as described by the media. She seems unpleasant to me, I don't like her. And I don't like Ireland.
Ya, meaning you're putting a lot of spin on things and in the FA case just making **** up. Wallace and Grimes were the top FAs at their position last year, right? Still came here, right? Idk if you can think of a better show of irony than the media calling someone else unpleasant.
Barry Jackson is reporting that Dolphins will look outside org to fill role. Aponte is valued internally but is not an option for the position.
I'm buying season tickets tomorrow, along with four of my friends who have called me. Ross will pick up 13 new season ticket holders tomorrow just from us alone !
I don't agree that he was bad at icing OL talent. I think that an OL must be developed and that when you switch philosophies from one type of lineman to another you are putting the GM in an impossible situation. My issue with Ireland has always been how he has treated players during contract negotiations. As for the decision to cut ties now, I have mixed feelings. There have been many decisions I disagreed with, but I don't believe that he's a bad talent evaluator. I see the odds of us getting a much worse talent evaluator as 50/50 or worse. And I don't agree with those who claim that we couldn't win with him at the helm. I like the talent on the team right now. I see enough cap space to add Ts and Gs and RBs can be found cheaply in FA and in the non-premium picks in the draft. With the talent we have at the key positions and the ability to add another couple of play makers, I like where this team sits talent-wise. As for the next step, there have been a few names out there that I thought were promising (I really liked that guy from the CFL (blanking on the name) and I like Heckert), but I'm not thrilled with the possibility of us bringing in some washout from the Jets.
And I dont think your alone. Ross has a chance to be a beloved team owner of the kind that Bob Kraft is...if he just dares to let the right people make the right call here. There's a reason why Jeff Darlington said this job is coveted. Come on Mr. Ross..swing for the fences here. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
We're all going by what we read and hear in the media, unless of course you know her personally or have experience inside the organization. Is that the case?
That is not true. She signed both Ellerbe and Wheeler to contracts. If it was for more than the minimum salary for players with their number of years in the league, those were bad contracts, based on how badly they both played this season.
You would have a great point if he didn't fail at finding new platers for the system. Its not like we were stuck with guys who didn't fit. We signed and drafted guys who don't fit.
I agree 100%. We need to get away from the Tuna's people completely and forever. Now the question becomes who replaces him. Anyone internal, and I'll be depressed. Equally as much as I will be if we promote from within for OC. I want someone who's proven that they can do it before from outside the orginization. Someone who we KNOW can do the job. Not some up and commer. Not someone who's done nothing but fail with other clubs, like the Jets castoffs. The same goes for the new OC and hopefully the new QB and OL coaches that he brings on. This is step one. If the next step sucks, then it was for not.
I don't entirely agree. Whenever anyone, be it a team or a person making a personal life decision, there is never any guarantee the alternative will be better. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to improve something that clearly needs improvement. You're right though, this was only the battle, not the war. Ross has to hire the right guy to be the both the brains and "face" of this franchise.
Schmo's guy, Jim Popp? I think he was a finalist for the Colts GM job but Grigson got it. If not him, then I too am drawing a blank.
lol I can clearly see that she signs players to great contracts in terms of us being able to spend a lot of money without taking big cap hits. Evaluating her on her job isn't enough so we need E!SPN? Come on.
At last some good news from this train wreck. Now show some intelligence and hire someone competent for the position.
