I can't imagine what the fascination with Tom Heckert Jr. is other than the Dolphins link.

Trent Richardson is a worse decision than any Jeff Ireland has made in his life.

And Joe Haden and Josh Gordon are better than any decision Jeff Ireland has ever made. Not to mention that Tom had a key role in building the Eagles Superbowl roster.

I think thats because a lot of people assume hes staying put and taking over when Newsome retires. Hes rejected GM overtures for a GM interview before. Id be thrilled though.

A key role of what, running out and getting Andy Reid barbecue between rounds? Being in proximity to someone who made good decisions doesn't by osmosis make you good at it. It's the same fallacy that gets a **** load of bad coaches hired.

Josh Gordon is clearly extremely talented, but Joe Haden doesn't make the nut. He's a second tier coverage corner, and both him and Gordon have drug issues. If the other one wasn't so likely to Ricky Williams himself out of the league, you'd have a point.

No you're probably right. It's likely Green Bay 2.0 up in Seattle even though it's a different style of team and with a different philosophy under the collaboration of Pete Carroll [who is NOT a branch of Green Bay] and John Schneider, and successfully owned by Paul Allen who is also unrelated to Green Bay.

BTW, why would Ross have a good idea of how Seattle & Green Bay are run? Was Philbin's job description broader than his offensive coordinator title would lead to believe?

LOL.... he passed on Tannehill to draft Weeden..... and the player he took in Tannehill's spot is no longer on the team. Luckily for the Browns they were able to unload him for a late first rounder.

Some might disagree about Haden being a better decision than Tannehill.

It's amusing how much you hate on Ireland for the the "talentless" team you feel he assembled yet you fluff a GM whose team went 4-12, 5-11, 4-12, and 5-11 the past 4 years under his control or immediately in his aftermath.

He was going to get RG3 but Holmgren was the one who killed that. RG3 was a highly acceptable call to make even with Shanahan squandering him. I therefore cannot really hold him responsible for Richardson. Holmgren meddled...he owned that draft. What we can attribute to him is completely rebuilding a defense on a roster that was completely gutted by the last people to be involved.

The Dolphins are working out plans to meet with Kyle Shanahan this week to discuss vacant OC position, sources tell Fox Sports.

I have serious concerns about the politics of the management of the organization. If Miami has trouble convincing any of the top names to come as gm or even offensive coordinator then the dysfunction will be evident even after Ireland's departure. I do hope Armando is wrong. If he is not I have lost some respect for Philbin. My preference hire a gm to be in a position of strength and not come in with one hand tied. Aponte's energy for power has me somewhat concerned about the health of this organization.

Why the hell would anyone want to interview someone from the Cleveland Browns? Yuck!

I really like Tom Gamble but I've heard excellent things about Marc Ross as well.
