Ireland tried to get her fired after the 2011 season, Joe was hired in 2012 after that 2011 season. The "Ireland seeing this" that you are quoting was Aponte getting buddy budy with Ross on team flights while she made her case for why she needed more power. Ireland did not try to get her fired as a result of an allegiance with Philbin. He tried to get her fired after she made a standard case to grab more power. After Jeff tried to get her fired she created an alliance with Philbin in a power play move.

If you don't see pathetic dysfunction in this FO, that's up to you. Other than that, you can stop whining like a school girl as to other poster's opinions.

No I'm not...but I've read, studied and developed countless case studies of executive maneuvering and the like, and I can guarantee you this type of stuff is FAR more common than the opposite. I used to think exactly how you do, and to a large extent I still do, but I'm not so blind to realize that's not how it is in the majority.

You DO realize we're a capitalist nation right?

Pathetic dysfunction? We are in the middle of reshaping or FO and power structure. Who knows what is going to happen. Why not wait for the dust to settle before we scream about dysfunction? Hell 90% (made up stat) of this board were sure Ireland was staying as of this time yesterday.

Gee, really? Thanks for the update. And a good part of corporate America is made up of back stabbing a-holes? Wow. More enlightenment.

Anyway, you don;t know for sure whether or not Ireland is the source, so stop acting like you do. Regardless of some idiocy to the contrary a few posts ago, and I would like to emphasize idiocy, I'm thrilled that Ireland got canned. So please keep that in mind before you spout more nonsense. Some of you people amaze me- quick to comment, slow to actually read through a thread.

OK...so you're a devoted conspiracy theorist then...either way. How many times has Mando been proven to be a fiction writer?

Conspiracy theorist? Is it supposed to be some kind of revelation that Aponte allied with Philbin and there has bee all kinds of inner FO turmoil? I think not. Go back to your case studies, this is getting boring.

Fair enough. I'll accept that distinction, but you are, to a certain extent, advocating the behavior as a standard part of corporate American behavior. Regardless, this conversation is stale- given that I started the thread, feel free to visit another.

The very beginning of this story (based on what we know) is that after Parcells left, Dawn went to Ross on flights to New York where she attempted to convince him she needed more power and shouldn't be under direct authority of Ireland. How is that Shady? It's basically redefining your job description. It's the equivalent of going to your boss and saying "Hey I'm currently doing this, but I think I could be doing this really well for the company".

Then feeling insecure about his job/role Ireland tries to get her fired and that causes her to go all out hostile take over on him. Do things start to get shady in here, yes but let's not pretend the things that were happening were unethical. Dawn had the foresight to see that Joe most likely would outlast Jeff and hitched her star to his wagon. Again this is a very normal behavior and isn't inherently shady.

Honestly the shadiest thing she did was tell Joe that Jeff was talking **** behind his back. But who doesn't tell a friend that a cowork or boss is talking **** about you in public to other employees?

My basic thesis is that I'd like to see all this toxic bull**** cleared out, and firing Ireland was a good start. Everyone has their own opinion, but quite frankly this thread is becoming a bore.

Firing Ireland was the best, and in my opinion it had to happen. That being said, I don;t like the toxicity that Aponte brings to the organization and I don't like the weakness that Philbin brings to the organization. Bottom line, that simple.

What I would love to see is Ross get this Gamble/Harbaugh thing going, that's how you rebuild a franchise. Not the Aponte's and Philbin's of the football world, and of course that's only my opinion.

I don't think Philbin is weak. Not every coach needs to be Cowher or Chucky to handle their business. Dungy was low key. Led one team to the brink of a Superbowl and won one w/ another team.

Once again, the distinction is lost. Quiet isn't weak, low key isn't weak- weak is weak. Being led around by Aponte and being basically told what to do as per the press is weak. Not being able to rally the troops for two defining games at the end of the season is, for a head coach, weak.

I keep asking but the answers never add up..

He didn't handle his business in the last two games where we were not competitive with everything on the line..

If you wanna give him a 2nd chance that's cool, but 39 to 7 tells me somethin ain't right.
Firing Ireland doesn't make me feel any better about those happenings..

Why would the "troops" need to be "rallied" with a chance at the playoffs on the line? Philbin is not good with the media. Why would Aponte helping him with that be turned into her telling him what to do?

Listen...I have no horse in this race. I just want the Dolphins to win and become relevant again. I think Ireland had his run and it obviously did not work out well. I am iffy on Philbin...some games I came away impressed...others left you scratching your head. With that being said...these articles by Armando were a complete joke. They were slanted...with a very clear agenda...blind to anything Ireland did wrong and tried to paint Philbin and Aponte as the villains for no other reason than his bread was being buttered by Ireland. The myth that reporters are "objective" and with out " bias" have long been disproved and all that is being accomplished is fodder for future hatchet jobs. It truly made my stomach turn reading that rubbish

Salguero's M.O. is to take a situation with gaps of facts/info and insert into those gaps his own imaginations. Go back the last several years and read his stuff, it wouldn't be out of place in National Inquirer. Now, the Inquirer sells lots of copies, i understand that, but you aren't a bunch of pathetic women easily persuaded by the life and styles of the rich and famous, are you?

Let's be honest, you don't think this happens at just about any other NFL or sports franchise or any corporate office ? How naïve. I've worked at at least 3 places where I have seen this same struggle - almost verbatim - and that it can happen at a professional sports franchise in nothing new - we just don't hear about it.

But if any of this has a shred truth to it, I am in the "blow them all out" crowd as now it is out there that Aponte & Philbin are a team, and any new GM coming in has to deal with this dynamic from the beginning.

It does smack of Ireland trying his best to bring the other two down with him, making them look so bad Ross has to act to attract the quality GM he wants. Which knowing what I do about Ireland, doesn't surprise me in the least.

All such ugly business....again the franchise looks lost & inept :pity:

Where was Armando's cries of dysfunction before today? He waits to find out Ireland was fired and then comes forward with this story. Where has he held Ireland accountable for anything over the last 6 yrs in this article. He tries to paint Aponte as power hungry, yet it was Ireland who tried to get her fired. Sorry Armando, like someone wrote.....The weasel got out weasled!

Both can be true that Ireland was terrible and there these powerplays. All in all, it makes Miami look a lot like Washington. If Ross was swayed by these games then it seems like the wrong people will hold positions in Miami for long periods of time.

The Dolphins organization sound like a season of watching "Suits". Everyone is out there for their own interests instead of the interest of the franchise. Joe Robbie is rolling in his grave.

Interesting tidbit from another thread for you and many others to process, a tweet from Jeff Darlington:

From what I hear, @ArmandoSalguero was spot on about Miami’s end-of-season dysfunction within management ranks: hrld.us/1ihwAFE
    12:09pm - 8 Jan 14

So now maybe the conversation can progress beyond the messenger (Salguero) and focus on the message, which is of front office dysfunction.

Doesn't change the lack of effort in the last two games possibly being linked to coaching dysfunction with the GM. Why would Ross, seeking answers for the collapse, side with Philbin and Aponte?

If Aponte couldn't stand Ireland and wanted him fired, from everything I've been reading for years, she was by no means alone.

Ireland was an asshat, and his personality was detrimental to the team. If Aponte worked to get him fired, she did the team a service.

She has now outlived her purpose. Either fire her conniving a** or let her go to the NFL office.
