I don't think it really matters who he hires to be honest. Fire the OC to buy another year but I think the conservative offense is what Muschamp wants and what Florida is going to get. We have the same problem with Golden/No'Dfrio Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well he has told players and recruits Florida is going more up Tempo and Spread offense. Who knows tho.
Florida landed highly rated 5 star OT David Sharpe today. Florida also landed 4 star WR/TE Moral Stephens.
Florida coach Will Muschamp announced Thursday that five players are leaving the program -- fullback Rhaheim Ledbetter, tight end Kent Taylor, offensive tackle Quinteze Williams, offensive tackle Trevon Young and offensive guard Ian Silberman.
QB Tyler Murphy will transfer and look to play somewhere immediately next year after graduating (he did that yesterday).
This is not confirmed or anything but a rumor. However it looks like Clay Helton will be the new Gators OC. Helton grew up in Gainesville. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clay_Helton
How good was his offense this year? Have not seen any of USC this year. What else has he done? I really hope he is a gem. Our last few OCs have been horrible. Edit: Just a quick search on ESPN... they were not great. 54th in total offense. 218 yards passing/game and 174 rushing yards/game and 28.5 pts / game (68th in the nation). Not really a glowing endorsement of a team that plays in the defense lacking Pac 12. I hope WM knows what he is doing, bc if this guy is a bum They will all probably be fired after next year.
Well he hasn't been Offensive Coordinator a really long time and offense wasn't very good while he had top notch talent. I watch a few USC games (well parts) and I was not impressed. They did seem to get better after Kiffin was fired tho.
USC scored 62 points vs Cal. I wasn't a big fan of there QB play either. They had some low scoring games obviously as well. However our offense has been so bad any change is welcome
Former Virginia Tech Kicker Brooks Abbott will be joining the Florida Gators as a preferred Walk-On. We need all the help we can get at Kicker ***Update*** Abbott (Jacksonville, FL) was an Army All-American but chose VT over Army and WKU. He was 11-for-15 on FG (long: 47) as a HS senior.
Florida signed Juco transfer Drew Sarvary. He is a 6"6 310 OT. He will be enrolling in Jan. Florida will also be getting a transfer to the basketball team. Alex Murphy will be joining the team and transferring from Duke. If the name looks familiar it is. He is the brother of former Gator Erik Murphy.
Florida will play Michigan on Sept 2nd 2017 in Arlington, Texas. Also the Gators are working on scheduling a Neutral site game with the Miami Hurricanes in 2022 or 2023.
Coleman Hutzler will replace Jeff Choate at Florida. Choate coached Special teams and Outside Lb's. Hutzler coached the same positions at New Mexico. Hutzler was at Florida in 2011 as an assistant coach.
I am anxious to find out who will be the new OC. I do hope they move quickly after the bowls so any recruits that are on the fence can make up their mind... Gatorsports is saying the OC from Duke is the main target. Did not watch any Duke games, anyone have knowledge of their o?
It's unclear who the main target is at this time. He is was in Gainesville yesterday but Muschamp said they have not offered the job to anyone yet. I think they are doing some interviews at this time. Major Applewhite may be an option too.
ESPN is reporting that we will hire Kurt Roper as offensive Coordinator later this week. http://espn.go.com/college-football...da-gators-hire-kurt-roper-duke-blue-devils-oc
What are you thoughts on him? I did not see any Duke games, so only going by stats... Somewhat impressed. Ranked in the high 40s (44 and 47) in the nation in total offense and pts scored. On a team that does not get the same kind of recruits that UF gets. Here's hoping he can be the creative spark this team needs on O. Merry Christmas all!
I honestly don't watch many Duke games either. The only thing I can say about this is I have a great respect for David Cutcliffe. If he learned from him that is a plus in my book. I will certainly be watching Dukes final game vs Texas A&M on Dec 31st. A&M defense is awful. Just awful.
Florida Gators to hire Stacy Searels as OL coach. He has coached at Georgia, LSU, and he coached Texas OL last year. He went to Auburn. Safe to say he is familiar with the SEC. http://texassports.com/coaches.aspx?path=football&rc=562
Went to post this news after I was done playing basketball but you beat me to it by an hour. Heard a lot of the OL recruits speak highly of Summers already so that's good.
That is good news! Sure hope Will can close with authority in the next month! I know I saw there were a bunch of OL early enrollees... which is great, bc we need depth there.
I know it means nothing until signing day, but good news... got another 5* Corner (helps replace Roberson and Purifoy) http://www.onlygators.com/01/09/2014/five-star-cb-jalen-tabor-flips-to-florida/ Edit: I take back about meaning nothing...
Really shocked that he flipped to Florida. Playing time was obviously the big factor. When he enrolls on Monday it's official so no waiting til signing day.
Brandon Powell who is an Early Enrollee will decide tonight or tomorrow on whether to enroll at Florida or Miami. He is currently committed to the Hurricanes. Gators offered him a Scholarship yesterday. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brandon-Powell-138396
4* CB Chris Lammons has decommitted from Florida. Jalen Tabor commitment is why this happened. For a lot of recruits it's about playing time.
http://recruiting.blogs.gatorsports.com/17419/powell-chooses-to-chase-dream-at-uf/ There is the story.
Ermon Lane decommitted today. It had been anticipated for a very long time. He will probably go to FSU with Dalvin Cook. After the news of Lanes decommittment Gators committ Quincy Wilson posted this on twitter. @dc_wilson954: @_MoneyLane lol.. Well I'll have fun locking you down for the next 3-4 years like I did in highschool
Matt Jones is out of Spring ball. Having a second knee surgery. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10288705/matt-jones-florida-gators-miss-spring-practice Have to say I am a little bummed about it. With the new offense, have to wonder if Taylor ends up the starter just bc Matt won't get the practice reps that Taylor does.
Muschamp just flipped Thomas Holley. Seems he is really on a roll! Really impressive considering the season we just had. http://www.onlygators.com/01/15/2014/four-star-dt-holley-drops-penn-state-for-florida/
