I am kind of peeling this idea off the "What Are You Playing Thread" and making a place where you can keep track of the games you have beat this year (you can just edit your post if you want, or keep adding, I don't particularly care).

Anyways, I tend to start a lot of games but not necessarily finish them, and have a ridiculous backlog. I often struggle to remember how many games I actually beat or how long it took me (calender days). So this year, I'm hoping to not only buy fewer games, but also beat a number of the ones I already have (or have already started). Hopefully this thread and more time at home with the new job (assuming my home situation works out) will help me work towards that goal (maybe I'll track trophy/gamerscore completion too in case people want to compare, though I am not a perfectionist in that regard typically).

Good idea for a thread, I end up not beating a lot of games as well.

I like the Final Fantasy series and own every numbered one except 3 and 13-2. My goal is to one day finish them all and so far I've done 1, 7, 10, 10-2, 12, and 13 (played a good deal of 8 and 9 but never completed them). 11 and 14 are both MMOs so little harder to "beat" them, though I beat the main storyline in 11 and had a 75, but only played 14 a month. Bought my friend FF 4 for the PSP when that came out and recently borrowed his PSP to play it. I beat 4 early on New Year's Day (I'm a party animal) and then Interlude. Right now I'm working on After Years. I enjoyed 4 and the updated sound, spell animations, sprite art, and avatars for dialog were nice touches. I might grab Tactics for the PSP next, another game I played and never finished.

Finished up FF 4:The After Years today after recently beating FF 4. For those that don't know The After Years is a sequel set around seventeen years after the original game (with a short "interlude" game in between the two). I enjoyed it but felt like it took forever at the end, I thought I was about done and ten hours later I'm still wondering when it will end. Also a few other nitpicks in terms of being forced a certain party setup but it's a classic 2D Final Fantasy, I enjoyed it. After playing X-2 a long time ago and now "4-2," it's nice revisiting familiar characters and I enjoyed both games but sometimes stories are better off without a sequel.

I played Borderlands 1 solo and then me and a friend decided we'd play through BL2 together, we only played when the other was online and did every single quest together. It made things slower and sometimes you'd feel like playing when the other wasn't on but it was a fun experience.

I want to get around to AC3 really bad (Christmas present from a friend of mine) but I need to do Brotherhood and Revelations first. Actually I really want to play AC4, though I'm definitely interested in 3 as well, just don't have a huge desire to play the other two in the Ezio trilogy yet.

Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. I played Tactics when it originally came out in 1998 and enjoyed it but never finished it, even bought it again a few years ago so I'd have a physical copy. I've never owned any handhelds and wasn't sure about the PSP so borrowed my friend's and that's what I've been playing lately (4 Complete Collection and now Tactics). I really like the improved graphics/sound and added cutscenes in these PSP versions, makes it a little more enjoyable.

Just beat Saints Row 4 after beating GTAV. Really like how different the two games have become. GTAV started strong for me and lost steam as it came to an end. Saints Row was the reverse. In fact now that I've beaten it, I got one of the better upgrades:

ability to override simulation to "classic"

Just beat Bioshock Infinite. Liked the twist at the end, but they throw it all at you so quickly that it felt a little rushed. overall play of the game was good (but not great), but decent story overall. Little unfair to judge it afer playing the Last of Us.

Debating on whether to play Bioshock since it came free with the game or switch to something else.

Technically they throw the twist at you right at the beginning.

And you definitely want to play the original Bioshock. It'll feel a little simpler after Infinite, but the setting is engaging and the story is pretty good. Bioshock Infinite's DLC can help bridge the gap between the two games for you, since Burial at Sea takes place in Rapture, where Bioshock 1 takes place.

Just finished Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions on the PSP and was really pleased. The "Shakespearean language" I thought was done really well and the cutscenes were a nice addition. The game started off great and I couldn't put it down, then my enthusiasm slowed a little. I think needing to do random battles for extra skills and putting the story on hold is one reason, and the story also started taking different turns. I think in some games the writers go one step too far, where they have a great story but add an extra layer that can water everything down and just make things more complicated. Still enjoyed the story and game immensely, glad I was able to finally clear this one all the way through.

In the last four years I've probably beaten 10-15 games and now I've finished 3 in one month. See, this thread is good for focusing. That and I'm not messing with a MMO or college right now so little more free time. Not sure what I'll hop into next, whether I'll keep my FF theme going or take a break. Still might go back on Tactics and do some side missions and mess around first.

Nice to see someone experience FFT. Highly underrated game, IMO.

And I wouldn't say the language is Shakespearean. It's really more Game of Thronesian, especially with the inclusion of words like sellsword.

Always liked tactical/strategy RPGs and the FF series so not sure why I hadn't finished Tactics before now, glad I did though. Shakespearean is what you'll see mentioned with it a lot, guess because it's a reference that everyone will understand. It definitely has a different dialogue style and think it fit in well.

Never owned a handheld system but thinking of grabbing a PSP to play some of the RPGs on it and to have it if I ever need something portable.

So I've been interested in Red Dead Redemption since it was released but never got around to it and friend gave it to me as a Christmas present--just beat it. I know most of you probably finished it years ago so my thoughts on it are outdated but anyway. There are so many positives with this game that I can't list them all but I tend to like linear games because I'm more into the story and can't get into side quests. With RDR though I didn't mind the open world aspect and side quests because they felt organic and there was variety. I also avoided using quick travel most of the time because I liked the horse mechanics and the atmosphere/music immersed me into the world. Just riding around on my horse while watching the sunset was neat.

Absolutely loved the game but I'm still hung up on the ending. I've read where people loved it and thought it was one of the best endings ever, and I've read where people hated it. I'm not really in either camp. I'm still digesting it but I think my issue is more with the execution than with the actual ending.

I guess I'll find another really old game everyone has beat and forgot about it for my next game.

Just beat the Witcher, so now I can move on to the 2nd one and try and beat it in a reasonable time to get to the 3rd one. Coincidentally enough, the Witcher 2 is the PC game I have owned the longest as I bought it at its release.

Nice. I'm trying to push myself through Brotherhood/Revelations to get to 3 and ultimately 4. It's not that I hate those games (I loved AC2 and only game I have a platinum trophy for) but guess I'm ready for a new character and time period.

Ezio is the most loved protagonist in the series, so just enjoy the ride while it lasts. Brotherhood in particular is my favorite AC game. But 3 and 4 do offer something different over the 2/B/R trilogy, so they shine in their own ways.

I think 4 is regarded as the best game in the series now, or at least tied with 2 for that honor. People really loved the pirate setting, and Edward is a fun guy, albeit a bit of a scumbag at times.

For some reason, I hardly ever play 2 games at once. If u do, one is usually a sports game or racing game...but I find myself playing AC4 and GTA5 online a lot. I hate to say it, but AC4 struggles to keep my attention. I only like it in short clips. I think I may be worn out on pirates and ships? And the sea battles are not that fun to me.

On another note, I was going to get a PS4, but decided to pick up new gym equipment instead. There are still a few great games out for the ps3 and 360 anyway. Maybe this summer I'll get the next gen consoles.

I can't fault you on the pass on the PS4. There's nothing that you have to have on either XB1 or PS4. Titanfall is out for 360 next week. PS4 gets Second Son tomorrow @ midnight... But unless you're really into Infamous (I am), that won't matter much.. At the very least it can wait.

Yeah just read that at lunch. I wonder what's going on. Nobody has seen it and EA/Respawn are saying that it will not be missing anything (minus graphics of course). Maybe it's broken? Maybe the XB1 sales still aren't where they want it to be and they think another 2 weeks of Titanfall XB1 sales will help?

I have always loved pirates and anything dealing with the ocean so I think part of it is I'm making myself eat dinner to get to the dessert. I'm sure I'll be glad I played the games leading up to 4, but I've just been really eager to play it since the setting was announced.
