i never downplayed luck. i never said tannehill was better, i never said tannehill was going to automatically become better. if tannehill becomes drew brees i would be extremely happy. if luck is tom brady then fine so be it. I think tannehill has the talent to pass luck. you think luck is and will always be better we will have to agree to disagree.
I feel like I watch the Patriots in the AFC Championship almost every year. Meanwhile my team hasn't played in one since Aladdin & Sister Act were the big box office hits and I was in Pre-School.
I think we'd have to come to a mutual definition of "natural talent" before determining who possesses more of it b/c I think our definitions might differ from one another. I don't know what to say about the deep ball b/c we saw Luck nail more of those in one game tonight than we did from Tannehill all season. I don't think it helps being in Indy's offense where they normally don't take many shots downfield.
Yeah the deep ball thing is a puzzle, he did make 3 or 4 of them today, and very nice ones. Could be that today was a bit of a fluke, the difference between Luck and Tanny deep ball attempts of 21+ yards this regular season, was 44 vs 54. I think play calling was has some blame in this. Tanny threw far too many 41+ yards passes this year, and most of them were sideline routes because these coaches refused to move Wallace around and draw plays for him. That pass completion percentage is around what Tanny's was, and I think only Flacco threw more than him and only completed 1 more. He still needs to really work on his 21-40 yards passes, that's the area where he really struggles. As to the natural talent, for me is the overall physical tools. I think Tannehill has a better arm and is more athletic than Luck. What separates them and gives the edge to Luck is the mental aspect and the pocket skills. Luck is clearly ahead in these areas. Luck is also more physically strong, which helps in the pocket.
I see your grandma's balls, and raise you one Geno Smith. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
I think Tannehill has the better arm, too..... but I can't agree with him being more athletic than Luck who at 235 pounds ran a 4.59, jumps 36 inches, and blistered through the 3-cone in 6.80. If he weren't a QB he could've probably been an NFL TE/Hback. I believe Tannehill has better top end speed but I think his history as a WR makes people think he's more athletic at the QB position than he really is b/c I don't see him being on par with Luck with the ball in his hand- moving around the pocket, evading pressure, maintaining balance, avoiding tacklers, and inside the redzone.... and as good as Tannehill is at throwing on the run I'm not sure he's quite as good as Luck. Luck has 632 rushing yards, 9 rushing TDs, and a 5.1 avg. Tahhehill has 449 yards, 4 TD, and a 5.0 avg. IMO the most that could be argued is they're athleticism is equal, but the past 2 years I've seen Luck do things athletically at QB that I've not yet seen from Tannehill [at least not to the same degree or consistency].
Luck is missing his two best weapons all year and still won a playoff game..only his 2nd year, I'll forgive his int's..lol..funny how folks will hold that against him.. Don't know what to say that hasn't been already been said by some..strait up..on the rocks..with a twist..however I can get it. I'll throw in any player on the roster you want..and a draft pick..and I'd cuff his balls..
Exactly, he also made 2-3 throws only 3 other guys in the NFL can. But Tannehill is OBVIOUSLY better and has a higher ceiling.
Man people sure are sensitive about Andrew Luck over here, you would think Tannehill has some sort of playoff track record to back it up. Instead all he has is one touchdown in the last 2 games with the playoff seed on the line. So clutch. Anyways... I hope to see a competitive game between Carolina and San Francisco. Hoping Carolina pulls it off, don't want to see a special on Kaepernicking during media week...
Cam is looking really good so far. I think they (49ers) need to do the same with Kap. Let him loose and not keep in the pocket too much. Did you guys see Cam's acting after Brooks went airborne, LOL?
I can honestly see 49ers DC, get a HC job before their OC. Tom Gamble help build some of that defense back in the day.
Failure to get six there notwithstanding, Carolina look excellent. I'm looking forward to watching them against the Seahawks defense next week Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Niners getting away with a lot of unsporting behavior that they're penalizing the Panthers for. That's why it doesn't stop, IMO. You can't let one team do it and penalize the other, because both teams will just keep doing it. This is a great game, but it would be greater if they could get everyone to cut out the head butting and the late hits, etc.
Totally agree. I'm OK if they want to let them jaw at each other after the play, whatever, that's fine. But the penalties have to be called consistently. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Seems like the best we can hope for is another Pats Super Bowl loss. I'm not very confident that anyone in the AFC will beat them. I do enjoy watching those guys lose, but I'd rather watch a different team play in the big game. It's been old for a while now.
I think the Broncos can beat the Pats in the AFC and either the Seahawks, 49ers or Panthers can beat them in the SB if they get that far. Yeap, that's a TD! You can see the left feet make a divet and drag on the turf.
What was Munnerlyn (sp?) doing on that pass to Boldin? Looked like he was playing a short zone when he actually had man Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
