Granted, none of us have the complete information necessary to make an informed choice, however that does not preclude us as fans to name a favorite based on the information we do have. If you don't like it, don't play along.
Farmer is a favorite I guess because of the Peterson connection, but other than that his resume' isn't anymore impressive than several of the others.
I haven't been keeping up with the forums the last few days.. Is there a thread that generally shows all the candidates resumes or qualifications?
It's almost impossible to tell who would be a good GM when they haven't been given the chance yet. Although I'm surprised Farmer is 2nd though, simply being from the Browns...anything relating to the Browns scares me. When all the other teams in the league think they have issues, like Miami's well documented ones in the 21st century, you can just look to the Browns to know it can be worse. Although, he could be so excited to leave that place that he'll kill it as GM... Plus, he's only been there a year. The Browns stench of suck might not be attached to him yet. And he is from my area, so that's cool.
exactly and then there's....The Coaching You can draft the best talent in the world, but if you can not develop it you are spinning your wheels I.E. Ryan Tannehill
We could easily do a lot worse than #7 of 42. I agree in principle with the coaching complaint...hard to understand that we haven't fired the OL coach at this point. Sure you can claim lack of talent, which is certainly true, but there were countless times when linemen/TE/RBs completely blew an assignment on the line. That speaks to coaching IMHO.
To be fair, the decision to keep Josh Gordon was probably as difficult as the decision to bang Kate Upton. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
funny, but still not true. Forehead woulda kept Richardson and traded Gordon. In that sense he maybe gay.
I don't know, often the "popular option" hasn't worked out in recent history for the Dolphins. My answer is whoever is the best at scouting OLinemen and Linebackers. Lol.
Talent-wise sure, but the guy is one failed test away from a 1-year suspension. He misses all of next year and now Cleveland was stupid for not getting what they could for him when they could. Without knowing Gordon personally, you can't say whether he's Pac-Man Jones or a guy who can keep his head in the game.
According to Mortensen, Dolphins are interviewing Brian Xanders, who is the Lions senior personnel director and was the Broncos GM from 09-2012. Both of those teams have a lot of talent and have made some good draft picks in recent years. Has GM experience, has already run drafts. Sounds like a strong candidate.
I'm a gambling man. I wanted Burfict and Gordon in the supplemental draft at the time too. First and foremost I like talent. Sure, Armon Binns doesn't beat his wife, but he also hasn't killed it on the field either.
IMO you can't afford to make those gambles (bad character types) while building up a team. Those gambles are better made when your team has had some success and has some leaders in the locker room. I don't believe we have the leaders yet have many of those gambles pay off. And I really think such players would be a bad fit with our HC.
Xanders is an interesting possibility but again - he's never had final say in any of his drafts (even as "GM" with the Broncos - it was always someone else).
Reportedly his position with the Broncos was meant to train Elway to be the GM. During that time Xanders was allegedly the guy who ran and did everything.
we've all heard Chip Kelly loves Dion Jordan, Armando said he wouldn't be surprised if Philly offers their 1st rounder (#22) for him...that might be too tempting for a new GM to pass up. would you do it?
No, I like the flexibility her brings to the defense and he is a very efficient pass rusher. Plus a $12,156,358 cap hit would suck.
